I remember, vividly, putting the 8-track in. A friend loaned it, said "You have to hear this band." When the Overture started, my hair raised. About halfway through, I KNEW, i'd found my band...That was 1977, seems like yesterday. THANKS RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Overture from 2112 never grows old and sounds as amazing today as 40 yrs ago (38 since I first listened to it)

With all due respect to RUSH fans, they are too clinical and sterile for my taste in Rock music.

A lot of Canadians and Amerians probably aren't very familiiar with English Rockers STATUS QUO, they are massive everywhere else in the universe. though I recommend you listen to their massive album output from 1968 to present day. 33 studio albums. Their double LIVE album released in 1977 is the best LIVE album ever recorded.

Rick Parfitt is the best and greatest Rhythm Guitarist in history and a great singer.
From psychedelic Rock in the 60's to Stoner Hard Rock of '70 & '71
to Hard Rockin' Boogie all thru the 70's and into the highs and lows of the 80's and 90's then to hit back with some of the greatest Rock albums ever made in the Noughties and 2010's. Superlatives cannot describe how great STATUS QUO are.
Honest, genuine, sincere tight punchy raw Rock n Roll that's STATUS QUO!!!!
The Sex Pistols liked STATUS QUO because of their attitude to the music industry and the world in general.
The QUO basically said ' if you don't like what we're doing then you can get fuck#d!!!!!!'
Being technical and intricate doesn't make you a great Guitarist or Drummer.
In fact it lacks warmth and feeling and humanity.
RUSH fans need to listen to RAW POWER by THE STOOGES from 1973.
The production and mix is dirty and mirky and really filthy. It is a 'thing' of great beauty.
On STATUS QUO albums you can hear the boys yelling to each other and making real human sounds whilst they record 'LIVE' in the studio.
QUO don't do 50 over dubs like REO SPEEDWAGON.
Punk n New Wave was a mule kickin' against the sterility of bands like RUSH
