I had the priviledge to see this awesome man of God lead worship for Abundant Life Cathedral Church a few years ago. WOW!!! What a joy hearing him sing. He's awesome.
Okay if an atheist is moved in ANY way by the anointing that flows through this man, then he's definitely and truly blessed by God to reach the unreachable... Bless that man!!

I love Daniel and he's a great man!!! But most importantly I love his heart. Sometimes I get angry in gospel music because I wonder if it is about riffing, running, and vocal acrobatics or is it about God and reaching the lost. I hear you. God doesn't worship HImself. He allows you, we, us to worship Him. So, that being the case we do control how, when and what we do in our worship. True worship is soft, quiet, loud, radical, wild, hard, sitting, crying, bowing, looking, thinking, riffing, w/or w/out vibrato, flat and yes, even tone deaf. Worship is personal. For me, One of the greatest things about worship is that only one set of nostrals matter.

Y'all if you listen to the words, this is not just a song it's a prayer of deep surrender! And I am not talking about the regular "I surrender all, and I want your will not mine", that we do all the time. The words show it is a surrender up to leaving everything to become a missionary to Africa or Australia, up to going into ministry, try me now and see, he says. Even if he does not fully understand what he said (I am not saying he doesnt), that's DEEP and he can't escape ministry now!
Dude I've known Daniel for a number of years I remember when his family first moved to LA from Bakersfield. He brother and I have toured together (George) and his cousin Chris J. I remember when he first started singing and no he has not been singing like that since 12. He's dope don't get me wrong the boy is anointed and can go. I was just saying that he's just another good church singer is all. Nothing spectacular. However in a worship service he can take you there. Thanks

You keep doing what God has called you to do HOW He called you to do! Riffs, runs, skats, rat-a-tat-tats and ALL! God revealed to me a while ago that there are certain notes, runs, and riffs for certain purposes (I.e. warfare, intercession, exhortation, edification, etc) and that as I sing to go with the flow with the Holy Ghost as He leads. It got so intense one time that the Holy Ghost told me to riff up higher than I had sung in a while as intercession for my CoPastor who was having trouble
Wow! No one will be totally pleased. People can only judge based on what they know or what their capabilities are. As for me I know there are few people that are truly gifted in voice that has the control that he has over his voice. Worship is personal and opinions are too ;). So with that being said danielj79 keep it up man, post more videos or something, make a solo album and come back to Jax, FL. You are truly gifted.

I agree with tonio3fome, I think most of these singers like Daniel, Kim, the Clarks and many others who some may quote as doing to much here or there is not what they are even concerned about when they are singing. I believe their true heart first is to minister to the people or the situation.
I admit sometimes I can over-do it. I'v had to tell myself many times, while getting ready to riff, not to do it. There are times when singing straight will bless people. Then there are times when doing what I did this night will. With Kim Burrell running as much as she does, amazingly, through her, people are still coming to Christ. Ears are great, but different. Ultimately my job is to sing until HE draws. And only to those who are already drawn, does identifying the anointing come easy.
he's the bomb. actually went up a key half step if you play the begging for a few then go right to the end, but tha's better than going flat, ppl usually accapella and go flat, but not Daniel. Go humble in the Lord.
For a solo, your running and riffing were perfect! Most people would admire it this way, especially regular people who are not musically trained or have not developed a personal style. If you were leading worship were everyone in the audience were singing with you, then it might have been distracting or overdone, except for those who are musically inclined enough to keep up. But for a solo, no, it was perfect!

Good Question! When one sings acapella it is almost a necessity to over do it because you have no instruments to back u up, but if there is music accompaniment, there is no need to over sing...one can be the worlds best soloist if they over do it while the band plays...it hurt the human ear very quickly: by hurting our hears i mean we gets tire of hearing the runs... but he didn't run EVERY word, just more at the end...

It looks like somebody don't know background singers like that because his day job is singing. That guy has sung for Israel and New Breed and also Marvin Sapp and probably a bunch of other people. Sorry to tell you, that brotha is anointed.
Most of these singers are trained singers as well so they know when to hold back or to give it but most time they are just letting themselves go and express all that is in their heart to God and the riffs just happen to be apart of them expressing how they feel to God in their worship. They are not conentratring on everynote and saying in their head well I think I will riff here or there. It just comes out that way as they sing and worship and minister.

Church Jazz.....Everybody in church sounds exactly the same, nobody is original anymore. Everybody copies everybody's tone and riffs. I love Kim Burrell, actually she is my cousin. However, I think since she has hit the scene every Gospel singer tries to copy cat her tone and riffs. Daniel is dope!!! don't get it twisted, but it's just that you can go into any church in America and hear someone that sounds like that. Fast and pray and ask God to give you your own unique sound people.
