    I love your tutorials. Many people say "it is so easy!" and they do a portion of the construction and leave out the places where people run into trouble. But YOU have such attention to detail and a desire to teach that to others. It makes you unique. I wish you would do more. I am sewing Cobaltex into the bag to shield my body from the cell phone radiation. So, I came back to this video to get your vibe. Thanks and god bless

    Thanks, Lynne! I've made a couple of bags similar to this one but you've taught me a couple of short cuts today. I appreciate the fact that you are very precise and neat with measuring and making sure your seams are nice and straight. It gives the finished product a professional look. Thank you again!

    Love, love your tutorials! I’ve made 2 of these bags, the diaper bag, the Lilyann bag, the crossbody bag and numerous tote bags. My daughter, daughter-in-laws and granddaughters have all loved being the recipients of them. Thanks so much for doing these. It has certainly taken my mind off this pandemic!! You’re the best!!

    I have made this bag twice. Absolutely love the tutorial. I need to pay MUCH closer attention when installing the tabs because I have done them wrong both times!!! I had to tear out and re-place them. I have made 1 in a sports fabric and 1 a more summer fabric. I also used interfacing that was too stiff because that's what I had. Not terrible, but I will purchase light weight before my next one. Great pattern, though! Thank you!

    Love this tutorial. One thing that I have found helpful is to tape the zipper on the back side when you are seeing this type pocket. It holds the zipper in place while you sew all around it. Once sewn, just remove the tape. Thanks for taking time to show all the steps. Have a great day!

    Hi, have made a couple now and love this bag. One thing I would like to mention is the zips..... When wearing the bag the zips open from front to back which is great and makes sense but I am left handed and always wear my bag on left shoulder so zips opened from back to front, not a biggie but found it more awkward so if you are a leftie like me you might want to insert zipper with pull on left instead of right......

    Super Tutorial. Already made my bag. It came out perfect. I did have to think for a moment (when you cut the video to the black tabs), about what you did with the pinned pocket. I make 10 of these on a busy day and I just wanted to offer a friendly tip/ advice. When it comes to the small d-ring strap connectors....I noticed that you sew them on facing outwards...then when it's time to put the bag together you flip them inwards.....why not just sew the piece on facing inwards to begin with? This way there's no worries about the seam looking janky when the bag is finished. This is how I do it....and each artists has their own way...I think your bags are absolutely beautiful. I just wanted to share my thoughts ....happy sewing

    1st I would like to say thank you very much for your video. 2nd I would like to make a suggestion regarding the zipper. I use Wonder tape instead of pins to keep the zipper exactly where you want it and you can sew over it it's awesome. Also regarding your camera angles , you can try filming over your right shoulder. and of course I do not know what type of camera you are using, but most cameras these days allow you to turn the LCD screen towards you that way you can see if you are on camera. There was one spot where you were cutting out for the first zipper and we barely could see what you were doing because you are almost off camera. 😊

Thank you again so much. And.........I did make a cardboard gusset make too!

  • @phenomenal_woman

    Greetings Vicki, thank you for showing how to make the two pockets on the outside. I make cross body bags also, sometimes I have made them to sell, most often just for myself for over 20 years, because I like to be hands free when it comes to purses. I was just wondering why you don’t use continuous zippers and pulls? I have used them for years after I met the zipper lady at the sewing expo years ago. The zippers are strong, durable and come in great colors. The zipper lady also has a CZcams video on how to attach the pulls that are most helpful. I will definitely use this video as a guide when I make my next bag, which will be soon because the one I have now is well loved. Thanks again. Peace

    I do love these bags, going to make another one this weekend and going to add the 2 pocket on the front...love it. I heard you say you sell on Etsy, if you are selling this bag you just made it looked like when your were trimming the threads on your lining on the last step that you cut a little tiny hole in the lining and thought you might want to check that out before you put it on your shop. Beautiful job.

    Love your tutorial, I learned a lot from you. Want to get a heavy duty machine, what kind do you suggest I get. Thank you 😘

      The one I have is a Singer Heavy Duty. Its loud, squeaky, and so on.... but it is perfect for all the bag making I currently do. Prob not for heavy leathers.... But I love it and It's all I use in my videos.. Enjoy, Lynne

    Turn on CC to read words if you are having trouble hearing 😎

    Your tutorials are so good that I only have one suggestion. It would be helpful to me if you put the material list, including yardage, in the description. That would make it easier for viewers to go back and make a shopping list!
    Also, the audio was a little too low on this one.

    Love your videos but I too have trouble hearing you. My volume is up as high as it will go. For those who say its to loud, they could turn the volume down so now when you record louder we all can hear. I have two questions. 1..You say in the video when stitching the zipper box to shorten your stitch length what should the stitch length be? 2. When drawing the center line for the zipper box what length should that line be before you start drawing the "v"?

      Shirley Hart when I edit my videos, I have the volume all the way up. I'm sorry, have no idea how to correct that

    • @VickiLeeBagsbyLynne
      @VickiLeeBagsbyLynne  Před 7 lety +2

      Shirley Hart the stitch length is about 1. Not everybody has digital so it's hard to gauge.just leave 1/2 " before you make "v"s. Hope that helps.

      Vicki Lee Bags/ by Lynne in your editing software, there should be a volume control for the audio track.

      Mariana Lastres always look on the selvedge of any licensed fabric. It usually gives you info about how it can be used.

    when you do your videos it would be wonderful if you would post the dimensions of the cut fabric pieces and size zippers and hardware you used, also where did you get your brand tags made?

    I meant to ask.......where can I find one of those gusset corner templates? That was a great little idea! Numbers and I are not friends so....... anything I can get to help me out is a plus!! Lol!!

    • @VickiLeeBagsbyLynne
      @VickiLeeBagsbyLynne  Před 6 lety

      I just made it out of a fat quarter piece of card board, or any heavy paper. Then I measured out of one corner of the template, one inch, the next corner was 1.5" , and the next corner was 2".... the one inch cut out makes a 2" gusset. The one and a half makes a 3" gusset and the 2 " makes a 4" gusset... I made others bigger and smaller as well. Glad you enjoyed it. Lynne
