      Agree. I would put Kevin Keegan in 3rd spot only after King Kenny and Steven Gerrard - see my post above. I think his influence on the Liverpool team of the early to mid 1970s was enormous - and outside the game, too - witness his performances for Liverpool in thev1974 FA Cup Final versus Newcastle when he scored two goals - or his stellar performance versus Borussia Monchengladbach in the 1977 European Cup Final. He wasn't bad for England, either !😉😂😃

    An excellent list and, having had the pleasure of seeing him play many times, I have no doubt whatsoever Daglish deserves the number 1 position. He was an extraordinary talent.
    In terms of footballing skill alone Suarez should be in the top two, but I understand he isn't considered a 'great' as he wasn't at the club for very long, he wanted to leave and he didn't win anything - although, mainly thanks to him, we did almost win the league. Some are saying Mo Salah should be in the top 7 - hopefully in a few years time he will be!

    No Kevin Keegan? The Liverpool success story started with his arrival at Anfield. Why did Bill Shankly buy him? Shankly knew talent when he saw one. He came from Scunthorpe United, a team languishing in the bottom division of English football. When he left for SV Hamburg in 1977, he had virtually won every honour on offer. By the way, I am a Man. United fan. I can't understand why everyone associated with Liverpool FC treats Keegan so shabbily. Keegan was also an influential player for England.

      1963-64 and 1965-65 Division 1 wins happened before Keegan, but Shankley kept that squad together to long. Keegan signed 1971-72 season winning 1972-73 Division 1 and UEFA cup in the same season as his first trophies with Liverpool.

      Young fan here, Gerrard is overrated. He's only one of the greatest legends because of his longevity at the club. Sure he was a fantastic player, but if I had to make an all-time XI i'd bench Gerrard behind Souness in midfield.
      If we go by Gerrard's quality he's one of the 20 best Liverpool players ever, but certainly not top 10. I'd put him in my top 7 purely because he was captain for so long and carried the club for years.

    • @SH-lt4nl
      @SH-lt4nl Před 3 lety

      I think his legacy is hurt a bit by leaving the club whilst still young on his own accordance. Nobody else left like this between the golden years of success at home and Eurppe from 74 to 85( Heysel ban). Souness left in his 30s whilst Rush left to play in the European cup and came back soon after. It's the same reason Mcmanaman and Owen are also not that loved at the club compared to Fowler. What else hurts Keegan legacy is he is more associated with Newcastle than Liverpool despite only 2 seasons there when you think of Daglish its Liverpool when you think of Keegan its Newcastle. I don't know if Celtic fans feel the same with Daglish because he is regarded more of a Liverpool legend.
