I was on there in 2011 for 18 months . This is very interesting
My first trip was on Beryl B in 1984 went from there to the Clyde in 1987 was there for 32 years. Finished offshore 2019 after 35 years.
Do you remember a Kiwi called Peter Gurr? Electrician from 1981 until 2000's on Beryl Bravo. It was KCA / Mobil back then.
Did he have glasses? I can picture him if it’s the same guy. Remember a few guys, one of the drillers was Tommy Adams, Pancho Hernandez’s think he was the assistant driller, Arthur the store man, Peter Alphabet gave out the cabins, Martin Boyle was one of the medics, the camp bosses were Mike Scott and Mike fletcher, big Matt the head chef. You had a good laugh back then, not like that now. So glad I finished up last year, 35 years is long enough.
He did have glasses, quite short 5'8" moustache, lived in Wales. Lovely fella. You've done your time pal. Earnt your retirement. Thanks for the reply.

Incredible engineering and such huge risk involved from start to finish. 👍
So much precision and preparation goes into this larger than life building & movement of these oil field structures.
5 years of my life went into BerlyB. Got C.Eng with all the boxes ticked with BerylB work Hammersmith, UIE Cherbourg, Cleveland Offshore, Redpath and KCA Drilling in Lincoln, Motherwell Bridge Flareboom AOCI Hookup. Now Bechtel pension comes in every month :-)

My first trip offshore was also on the Beryl B
I miss the beryls only two rigs I’ll go back too.
Nowadays they are decommissioning some of this kit, and they are picking up the entire topside onto one vessel and transporting it to shore for scrap, forty years and a whole generation of specialist massive rigs later.
