I always knew that last years 3.5k was going to be obliterated :D Well done on a successful 2023 Ben, and sounds like a fun 2024 ahead for you, I like your goals for the year. Also none of them are time based, unless you do have some hidden time based goals :D.
Have you ever thought about doing a time based ultra, so 12 or 24hrs run as far as you can in that period of time.
Thank you for all your support and friendship Marc I really appreciate it mate 😊👍 I will set myself a few time targets nearer to the races depending on what shape I feel I am in. Not sure if I will share those because it tends to add extra pressure but I am sure I can go sub 24 over 100 miles again. I would love.to have a crack at a 24 hour race if I found the right format. They tend to be track based which is pretty bland. Maybe a backyard ultra will be the way forward. 😎🤘
Just caught up on your review video Ben. What a fantastic year!! Great to hear how positive it went for you and some mega achievements. I can understand your 100 being the highlight, sub 24 on your first go was superb. I’ve been looking at the centurion events and watching plenty of videos from the various events they run and have entered one of theirs for Autumn (you can probably guess which one 😁) I did wonder if you might be running that one when you said you were entering another one. Good luck with all your goals this year Ben, I’m sure it’ll be another great year!

You've had a smashing 2023 Ben, really enjoyed following your progress and getting inspired by it. Congrats on all you've achieved 🎉 If you end up doing the SDW100 I may well see you there as I'm pacing a friend for the last third 😀 Of course I'm slightly biased but it's such a good race and like you say a lot more runnable and less fiddly than the North Downs! Look forward to tuning in for 2024 👍

An awesome year for you Ben. Getting in all of those miles and especially spending all the time with your son. I'll have to go back and catch up on you videos. I'd been off the running circuit for a while due to some back pain. I've running some but not doing the bigger races like I had had been. Anyways, good luck this year. I can't wait to see you smash those goes this year.

ben, what you managed to achieve in 2023 having over 1k subs and running 4971 kms a year which is over 3000 miles is madness. your other stats are crazy. you should be very proud of yourself. the sub goal of having other 400 is 100% achievable. 5000kms your going to smash this without any issues (as you said if you stay injury free) that goes with the elevation. the south downs way if an away fixture for you. good luck with this. im sure your are going to have the best time. would you consider another road marathon race?

Good year indeed and was amused you did both your first 100 miler and 10K in quick succession. Would like to see what you could on a road race. Must be plenty of last year's shoes available people with certain discounts. Checking back I got to 2K subs from where you are in about 6 months so hopefully you can do similar. Of course if you review 100 shoes a year you might get there quicker but that's not really a route (even on canal towpaths) that sounds overly fun nor relatable so stick to what you enjoy I say and people will come and watch. Hope to catch up for a run before long.
Haha so was I Tim. I couldn't have planned that any better really. 🤣 I might have to have a crack at a road race in 2024 that could be a good experiment mate. If you have any suggestions for good ones let me know. Thanks for all your support mate I really appreciate it! 😎🤘
@@BenNotley Perhaps Surrey Half (March I think), Elmbridge 10K (July - even features a bit of towpath albeit river not canal).
@@TimGrose chances are I will be doing the kids Surrey half with Zachary. I could look into Elmbridge though as I am a big fan of tow path running 😊👍
