Представь, что Сахалин захочет отделиться от росии, и там проведут референдум, где большинство будет за отсоеденение и независимость/вхождение в состав Японии. Какая реакция была бы? At this point in time, a lot of people werent framing it as independence from the Russians, they were moreso framing it as also abandoning communism. So yes Crimea probably did support ukrainian indepenence less than the rest of the country for that reason of being ethnically Ruasian, but many still wanted to abandon communism.
