    I like your video. You are the only CZcams video on this that says you need to fill bottom reservoir when putting in new surge tank. Others just installed and filled the top of the surge tank.

    Quick fix is make a jumper across the sensor plug. The lower part of the tank is an overflow res only it should not be full.

    Thank you so much, doing it myself saved nearly $500.00!

    The book says the lower section should be close to empty when it's cold. The top part starts out full and expands into the bottom section as it heats up. The sensor is just shot. Doesn't the sensor just come up through the bottom side of the top tank?

    Thank you so much for that information

    How much should this cost? Also how long it take for a 1500

    Doesn’t the coolant in pressurized side fill during the proper fill process as the thermostat opens? Serious question because I’m replacing my coolant reservoir tomorrow because of a leak I thought was the radiator I replaced. It’s got to be the reservoir or the water pump from what I’ve read.

      No, you will have to fill each tank individually. The lower tank has the low coolant sensor in it.

    You don’t have to fill the bottom tank that’s the overflow tank 🤦. The sensor is on the top section of the tank

      That's the tank where the sensor is located, that's why it has 2 caps. If you don't fill it it will always read low coolant

      @@showmemechanics Look close at the new clear tank in your video, the sensor points up and the float is in the top half of the tank.

    Do I have to open up that bottom cap to pour in through the tiny hole?

    • @showmemechanics
      @showmemechanics  Před rokem

      Yes I remove the lower cap and pour it through the tiny hole under the upper cap till it comes out the bottom, then put the caps back on. It's a pain.
