in Mexico siestas are done during the peak sun hrs when is too hot to do anything useful outside. some ppl take a nap others go home to eat a meal and then go back to work. some ppl think Mexicans are lazy cuz they take a siesta, but what they don't know is that Mexicans are within the most hardworking countries of the world working an average of 48hrs a week or 6 days out of 7
South doesn't mean prosperity in Feng Shui, the direction itself means fire, it can be prosperous or disastrous depending on other circumstances or your bazi. Which is why there isn't good or bad directions in Feng Shui, it comes in conjunction with everything else.
I think that's a lose definition of Feng Shui. It also represents energy and flow. Energy isn't always chaotic. Your literally controlling the energy and clearing space for hi traffic areas. Safety in tact.
The focus of direction on design reminds me of how passive houses use windows facing the east and west to maximally utilize light and heat from the sun, or block it out in different climates depending on the time of day. Overhangs to stop midday sun while allowing in morning and evening sun, for example.
Depending on how you feel about it. South and north are relatively interchangeable in terms of "energy". Which makes you more lethargic, might be better for sleeping.
Usually in the north hemisphere we prefer south orientation because in the winter the sun rises, moves and sets from there, so if your windows are facing the south you will get as much sunlight as possible during the colder months. In the south hemisphere is the opposite, so the "best" orientation is the north. But yeah, it depends on what you want to accomplish and what your needs are. If you live near to he equator, you are warm and have more or less the same day and night hours all year round, so I guess it's not that important. I live in Spain, more or less as far as the equator as the north pole, so south orientation is definitely the best here. I hope it helps 🤎
@@irenelopezmartin2246 nice explanation. India is a hot country. So windows or doors in south are avoided. Rather east and north are preferred for windows or doors.
Very nice explanation. In India we are asked to keep safe, locker, wardrobe in south wall for money. And avoid making windows or door in south . Probably due to heat
Kinda reminds me of my dad's policy regarding driveways. He's had bad experiences shoveling snow on steep north facing driveways in places with harsh winters, so for years he's sworn off all north facing homes. However, he's relaxed recently because we've lived in a desert for the past ten years and shoveling the driveway doesn't matter
How to do efective feng shui in a far northern country with extremely dark winters? (only 4-5 hours daylight, but mostly cloudy and the sun stays low close to horizon)
hi Cliff, I have had this question in mind for some time. The directions in feng shui and vastu are different (south is considered lucky in China). How do we reconcile the differences between two arts?
???… Context. 🤦♀️ 1 South isn’t “bad for India”. It simply isn’t IDEAL in Vas-tu. Where as it IS in Feng Shui. A *SINGLE* aspect of that is; regarding each one’s position to the Equator. IE-Obviously. Only applicable to those who follow those practices, and SEEK out optimal sunlight, maybe rather then cultural traditions- In Sweden they might be more likely to gain from Feng Shui, because they receive MUCH LESS sun.. Opposed to South America?
But, He is giving 1 reason. That explains some things for those that aren’t familiar with either. Or 1 of the 2 aforementioned. We’re both here pretty late so in case no one answers your question there it is. You’re much better off asking Google if you’re actually curious. but I wouldn’t trust random comments, when it takes just as much time to get accurate, sourced information. Saying; random things are “bad for ____” is too ignorant. Putting those words in someone else’s mouth, so to speak, is just sloppy.
@decentdeeds481: Did you actually listen to the video?.. It's not just "belief system" and not true, to consider a specific (cardinal) direction to be more beneficial than an other, depending on where you are! If you are buried under ground or drowning under water, your preferred direction would be up, I guess. And if you are in northern Europe or Asia south is best, bc. you get the most light from here.. It's no coincidence that houses (appartements) with south windows tend to be more expensive.. (In the northern hemisphere; for Australia, NZ, South Africa or Argentina etc. just the other way round.) Always remember: There is not _the one truth!_ It all depends on the perspective. 😉 (Maybe you've seen the cartoon picture with the two people fighting about who's right, both looking on a shape on the floor in front of them. The one claiming it's a 6, the other claiming it's a 9..) It's nearly always all about perspective. 😊 Even in objective areas like mathematics. On the one hand 1+1 is "clearly" 2. But on the other hand 1+1 can also be 3, if they are man and woman. ♡
Location, location, location ---> culture, culture, culture!
Authentic truths in their own rights. 💚
“there’s no contradiction, just a different way of seeing” that was really profound tbh
Logical explanation love from an Indian who knows Vastu 💜
I'm an interior designer, and from India. Recently I've been trying to connect and relate vastu and feng shui. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Beautiful understanding ✨️
I love this cut out paper explanation
I don’t think I could enjoy your content more. You are my new favorite person.
I love when Cliff explains other cultures. He is always so respectful and understanding.😊
Your positivity makes me happier
As an anthropology buff, this was quite impressive
In Sweden, we borderline worship the sun. but I do like the idea of siesta....

@@dio13373 this makes a lot of sense! I didn’t think of that. Also keeps you alert for work the second half of the day

South and south east are positive directions, southeast represents wealth and prosperity and while South signifies fame.

You are a great teacher overall
Would this mean we swap north and south for the southern hemisphere?

Yes
It would be logical.

Omg! This is amazing!!!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Absolutely love
This is so cool and interesting, thank you for explaining that!
Trop cool!!!!!!!
About Feng Shui: Now I understand why that character was shouting “we can’t have our heads facing north!” in the anime I was watching a while back.
now i know.............!!!
Wow, i didnt know!
I think I've been watching your shorts for like an hour now. I think my room is optimised for the space i have but also got no idea
So for Europe and North America Feng Shui fits better than Vastu as it's also more in the North?
❤️
I've never heard a non indian pronounce the word vastu so correctly
👌💛
Now I know)
What is the best way to get your input on room layout
What about Australia? Should my house pointing towards north?
My country is right on the equator? Which direction is the best for house then?
How to do efective feng shui in a far northern country with extremely dark winters? (only 4-5 hours daylight, but mostly cloudy and the sun stays low close to horizon)
should i build facing directions ot build facing the river?
Now what to do if you live in the southern hemisphere
So how do we adapt this to the Middle East coast of USA
i need the best fenzh shui book plz what it is. or the most ancieng
So how does feng shui works living in the south hemisphere?? Just swap north and south??
would this mean that in southern hemisphere in a place like nee zealand north would be a more viable direction
In Australia, North facing houses are always well sought after. I assume the same would apply to New Zealand.
hi Cliff, I have had this question in mind for some time. The directions in feng shui and vastu are different (south is considered lucky in China). How do we reconcile the differences between two arts?
I would say just follow one technic in ur house. So if u r following fengshui, only follow fengshui and vice versa.
So in a northern climate like Canada then, north would be inauspicious and south would be? Move with nature.
It's not called vastu it is vastu shastra, vastu mean home and shastra mean technique. So vastu shastra translet to home technique. Now you know!
I’m confused how does your sun explanation explain why the south is bad for India

That means both belief systems are just theories, but are not real truths!
I think they’re just folklore explanations of factual common sense (like all the rooms he makes more open and more comfortable to live in)
Yeah, most of Feng Shui is common sense and good interior design techniques.

First get a correct map of India
Indians don't have siestas, that is another different kind of "Indians". 😂
