      @Mirsab Před 4 lety +18

      @@hunterm9 I use both Spotify and YTMusic, but Spotify is programed in such a way that I don't specifically select a song to play, I just play one of the playlists they've made for me or recommended me and it's great, it's like it knows what I'll like more than anyone I know personally. CZcams music is something I use to play a specific song, usually when I don't wanna lose the playlist playing on Spotify.
      Trust me you don't have to switch your CZcams playlists to Spotify, I didn't and it worked fine, just have to listen to your types of songs for a week and then just play the playlists it makes for you, and when a song you like comes up, heart it and if you don't like the song press that (-) button on the right. And a week later you'll probably be hooked to it's algorithm.

      @@datachu actually, i do pay for netflix. but tbh at least on my country, it's not that good. netflix has been cancelling lots of shows i watched, and a number of their current shows are bad or not as good. also, lots of shows they license from other networks are often delayed (they usually have to wait for the whole season of a show to air on tv before putting on the platform, and this can take months, so it's usually a one-year delay, which is a bummer). i hope disney+ will be better, and i'm considering changing when it launches in my country (it's not in my country yet, and i hope they have lots of shows and films just like in the us and europe - i'll be disappointed if disney+'s content is limited). but tbh the only subscription i don't see myself ever unsubscribing to (if the service doesn't change) is spotify. it's just an essential service for me. if i had to give up all my subscriptions for streaming services except one, i'd keep spotify in a heartbeat. however, spotify has made some changes to the app and service which i don't really like, and i hope they don't keep changing them often, but even considering those changes, it's still the best music streaming service imo

      But they got greedy, so I just went back to ripping songs off CZcams and saving them on my SD card (which I can listen to without internet, and move between devices, which is something that even Spotify premium doesn't allow, at least not permanently anyway)

Spotify noticed that and started offering pre-paid 3 month and 1 year plans on a discount. Google Play Music and Apple Music have been in India for years and have never offered such plans, potentially missing out on a lot of people who are willing to pay but could not due to lack of credit cards.

    i’m from sweden and i jumped on the spotify train fairly early. from what i remember you had to be invited by someone who already used it at that point, kinda like facebook in the early days. i didn’t get premium for years and years because back then the free version had no limitations whatsoever and the only difference from the premium version was that you would get like a 10 second ad every 5 songs or so. i don’t remember when the current free version came (maybe it coincided with spotify launching in the US? i don’t know) but i’ve had premium ever since then. when i was like 17 my dad didn’t think premium was worth it anymore, but long story short: he quickly renewed it. i think he thought that the free version would be like it was in the beginning.......oh how wrong he was.

      @@ramirezer2302 It's a shame what has happened to SoundCloud. They went downhill right after they started publishing music from the big record labels because, for some reason, they now wanted to become like Spotify even though the entire reason they became popular to begin with was that they were a platform for bedroom producers/indie musicians but now they also have to pay for the rights to the music from those record labels and consequently need to come up with a way to make up for that.
      They should've stuck with what they were: a platform for amateur artists to upload stuff to and share. Maybe adding something like Twitch did with a way to directly support the artists and a subscription model similar to Prime for its users, and something else for the producers. Were they smart they would've made mutually-beneficial deals with the pro-audio software/hardware companies and attempted to advertise and push those products to the producers at a discount.

    I went from being super stuck onto CZcams Music (Like watching Music on CZcams.) to trying out the 3-month free plan offer they had last year when school started. And oh man, I cannot go back, I absolutely cannot go back to any other music platform in any serious way. The downloads were so convenient, rather than having to find good MP3s here and there, or source music files without the cover art, I can just find the artist's name on Spotify, find an album of theirs, and download all of that in one go, and most of the time it downloaded so quickly that when my school bus had arrived and I wanted to download a certain album, I'd just click on the download, and right before my wi-fi disconnects and I get on the bus, It's all downloaded.
    Of course I'm not sure how I'll be able to find FLACs on Spotify, but still. Spotify offers a lot for what it is, and if it wasn't for the quarantine situation keeping us students indoors in Asia, I would be paying out of pocket for Spotify, it's just too amazing.
    I hope all artists stay on the platform, and that Spotify doesn't mess something up that makes artists leave, it's kinda like Netflix, if enough of your favorite artists leave, why would you even bother paying for it? But I guess Music and Shows/Movies have different rights and etc... And also is Spotify Premium seriously $10/month? Wow, honestly for what it is, I'd rather have that than pay for Apple Music.

    It seems like Spotify has now inked a deal with Samsung to promote its service as well. I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and on the invoice was a 6 months free subscription to Spotify (premium of course). When I opened the Spotify app and went to select a plan, I could see the free month option, student free 3 month option, and because I was on a Samsung device I could also see the 6 month free Samsung option (which I couldn't see on any other device). This came at the perfect time as I had just signed up for the free service because Google play is discontinuing in favor of CZcams Music. After having YTMusic for a few weeks I've found bugs in it especially when connecting through Android Auto (surprising since they are both Alphabet companies). This prompted me to sign up for the Samsung special and I will be continuing once the free portion runs out. Spotify is making the right partnerships and the right deals at the right time to increase not only the market share, but also the revenue and profitability.

For those more niche artists and songs I go to bandcamp and it's very easy to become an artist on there too. On the band amp app you do have limited times you can listen to that one song until you buy the digital download of the album which isn't that expensive since the most I've seen is like 10 USD. Idk what are the royalty fees are there for the artists that sell the music on bandcamp but I know for sure it's a good place to directly to support smaller artists
