    another pro of 3d is that by letting a machine do the technical part, we can focus on how the shot, lighting, colours, etc which really should be the main part of being an artist

    I think a good way to not worry too much on stylistic consistency is by making the 3D model with pretty simple textures and using it as a guide instead of bringing it in straight. You can drag and drop but I feel it can end up looking a bit uncanny unless it's a full 3D comic or if the model is especially tailored. It takes a fair bit longer to draw over the model but the heavy lifting of perspective and continuity is already done by that point. Still a great workflow for speedy production tho

      Absolutely! Drawing it completely by hand is by far the best option but when making comics it just gets too tedious in my opinion (mostly because I dislike making backgrounds in general haha). Thanks for watching!

    Laugh all you want... but I used to use The Sims 3 to make the houses of the characters in order to be constant and choose the right angles for the panels.
    Sadly that project was abandoned but someday I'll start over

    • @wogglawooh
      @wogglawooh  Před 3 měsíci

      I've tried that with the Sims 4! It's essentially the same idea as with Blender, but I find it's just a lot faster to change things in Blender when I need a background as compared to opening up the Sims every time

    really need to learn this for a comic i've been thinking about making which has an entire mansion... i will draw on top but having the base to trace and simply color and shade will be super helfpful

    Thank you for sharing these tips!! Your art and backgrounds look amazing! I'm definitely gonna give Archimesh a try :)
    I ran into the same "colours too dark" issue as you when trying to import models from Blender to Clip Studio. The issue goes away if you update the material's Color Space from sRGB (the default) to another option like Linear. Still, it sounds like rendering the backgrounds in Blender has more advantages anyway ^_^

    i have a question, when you're creating a room or a house in blender... do you follow the standard sizes of the buildings, doors and other furniture like in archi/interior design/ engr? or you just basically randomly creating the house without having the measurements?

    • @wogglawooh
      @wogglawooh  Před 3 měsíci +2

      For me, I just made up measurements but it's still within reason compared to actual houses in real life. If you happen to have a blueprint of a house it would be very convenient to import that and use it as a reference!

    I'm glad you mentioned laziness because that's pretty much the only reason. At that point why even draw comics? Next thing you know there will be a software that does lighting, shading, color, and perspective. Oh wait....

    • @wogglawooh
      @wogglawooh  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Not sure if you're trying to compare making custom 3D models to using AI? Because that's absolutely not the same thing lol. 3D models save me time on the part I like the least about making comics, but it doesn't do the work for me. I spent days making those background models that I then have to pose and light properly for each panel. Anyone who uses AI to make comics can go jump out a window for all I care because they're using real artists' stolen work, which obviously is not okay

    • @durratulaishah3703
      @durratulaishah3703 Před 3 měsíci +2

      3d custom background is a tool. Not like AI
      It helps artists to focus more on drawing characters than stressing out about the background. Plus it helps the character feel more immersive if the background don't feel consistent.

    I installed Blender some days ago and finally launching it for the first time. Following your tutorial,however, there's no archimesh on my add ons.....is it something I need to download or install? Help waaaa ahahahha

    • @wogglawooh
      @wogglawooh  Před 11 dny

      Glad you want to give it a try! Archimesh is a built-in add-on, so you don't need to download anything. If you can't find it, the only thing I can think of is if you're using a really old version of Blender of if you simply mistyped something when searching for it. Don't worry, it should be there in the list of add-ons somewhere!

  • @Afro.A.T
    @Afro.A.T Před 29 dny

    Hi...I have been studying the creation process of comics, since I am a 3D generalist. Though I intend to use shaders to effect those 2D outlines and looks to my models and I can't draw..what do you think?

    • @wogglawooh
      @wogglawooh  Před 29 dny

      @@Afro.A.T In theory, it's definitely possible to add outlines to 3D models to try and make a comic but it's a lot easier to do with backgrounds and static objects than with characters. Unless you're really good at rigging and animating characters, chances are that the comic will look stiff and lifeless, which wouldn't be any better than just drawing it. So... I dunno, it's up to you to try and see how it goes!

    • @wogglawooh
      @wogglawooh  Před 5 měsíci +1

      That's okay, it's probably a bit too advanced in that case. I also didn't explain a lot of things properly. I'm thinking of making a proper blender tutorial for beginners where I go over the absolute basics like navigating and moving objects etc. That way nobody should be confused when watching this video!
