Love that your dad gets involved and helps teach science! That’s so amazing!!
OMG my 9 year old is just like Eli. ABSOLUTELY STUNNED every morning that it's a school day.
I love that you have your kids read read read to discover what they like and help your kids love reading! Do you try to persuade them to choose books or let them choose whatever at the library?
Yes!! About the reading! We do that too. I think it helps them develop a love for reading to just take time to read great books. ❤️
I love your story about Eli! My sons brain is like WOW also. Wish me luck we are onto 7th grade.
Oh my gosh I so laughed out loud at the story about how Eli is always shocked about school 😂
I am only three minutes where you are talking about your son and my daughter who will be in second grade as well is just like that. She has surprises and literally doesn’t know why we have school everyday haha. The planner idea is such a good one. Might have to do that with her
It's always cool to see what other people are using.
I have a kid who still wakes up surprised that we are doing school. Haha! #homeschoolmomlife 🤦♀️🤦♀️💕💕
Oh my goodness!! What a brilliant idea with the planner!! 🥰 My oldest is very organized & I think I'm going to get him one because he also struggles with staying focused!
I've heard such great things about kiwi crate! I really want my son to try it out... I think my son would enjoy it! Great video and picks ❤
My son is nearing 8 and he is the same as your son, in that he prefers predictability. He will knock out goals on his own if he knows what they are. He’ll have a printed list with a week of assignments for him to work on at a time (with my help of course). They are broken up by days, but if he wants to go beyond the day he’s on, he can do so. :) He also loves Kiwi and reads well.
How cool is it to have your dad help with school!
Eli sounds like all 3 of my boys. What?! School?! Awe, man. I had to do something similar with mine but we have binder for each student instead of a planner. It has our schedule right in the front along with a pencil pouch since they always get up for a pencil they can't find. Then it has tabs for whatever category of things we are doing. Right now: recitation, math, music, nature study and geography. I tired the morning menus but it was more of a pain. So anyway, thanks for sharing your story ;)
Nothing wrong wiv a younger kid having a planner!!! We do formal science as I have 2 who are going into the medical field.
Mine is going into 2nd and also loves seeing that Kiwi Crate on the Porch. He is the only child and even he asks the same thing..like daily "We have school today?" (Insert his look of 😮 surprise here 😂)
Looks like an awesome year!
Love that you get whole family involved with your children’s education. One question though when are you going to announce the winners of the give away?
Do you think level 3 is helpful in AAR?
My daughter doesn’t enjoy reading, but loves books being read to her. We do lots of read aloud’s. We are finishing up our first year of homeschool in mid-July.
We are in AAR 1 about half way through it. Starting grade 1 in September, hoping to finish AAR 1 in July, but it’s not looking promising. Just looking for feedback. I may not push her as hard to finish AAR 1. I don’t want to squash her love of books and great stories. Reading own her own is hard and her brain gets tired, we also delayed academics in pre-K years. So she had a big learning curve in Grade K. Thanks in advance!
Hi, thank you so much for all your wonderful suggestions and tips. would you recommend this curriculum for a six-year-old child?
Are you planning to fill in the planners for the kids or will they fill them in for themselves? Wondering how to transition from my central lesson planner to individual planners for each of my kiddos easily.
He sounds just like my son! What we have to do school? It's so funny (and annoying)
My son is going into first, so we’re just a bit behind and using a lot of the same curriculum.... I wonder though when you said he was ‘all done with Horizons math’, did he go through level 2?
How are you liking the second edition for Five in a Row. I can't decide if it worth the investment to update the older guides.
Does Apologia science have project ideas or would I have to find them myself?
I've seen that your kids go from Horizons Math to Teaching Textbooks. My daughter is starting 2nd grade as well and just finished Horizon Level 1. Is it a big jump to level 3 TT? She excels on math and would like a change from Horizon?
The story of Eli🤣😂🤣😂
The reading you use after you take the year to read is what? Im sorry it goes so fast in video i could not catch it. Thank you
I see link in other comment so i will check that out thank you
Using Language Well and Spelling Wisdom, it’s in the videos for my
Older two! I love it.
Do you grade level ahead on teaching textbooks?
How do you feel about the good and the beautiful LA vs all about reading?
What do you use for language arts grammar?
I use this approach, which is why we start using spelling wisdom and ULW in third grade: www.google.com/amp/s/simplycharlottemason.com/blog/a-charlotte-mason-approach-to-english-grammar-language-arts-part-9/amp/
@@RootedinRest I’ve looked at simply Charlotte resources and they look great but I get nervous to use them because It’s not a traditional method. I used five in a row in kindergarten and loved it now considering using it for second grade again and maybe holding back on grammar. How do you incorporate copy work and narration?
Eli sounds like my 6 year old.
