It’s funny how the last two Bay movies are so poorly received yet the new Autobot cast has become quite beloved. Easily the best part of those two movies.
That's the problem with the Bay movies, the Transformers stuff is really good but there's never enough of it to really appreciate it

@@tappajavittu That all stems from the same problem though. If we spent more time with the Transformers, we'd understand their motivations more, and if they weren't always cutting away to the human characters every two seconds then it would be a lot easier to follow the action.
(Not to mention I'm pretty sure every incarnation of the Transformers features both sides committing horrendous war crimes)
The problem I have with the Bayverse, is Bay's attitude towards Transformers as a franchise.
Saying: "it doesn't matter how bad it is, you're still gonna go see it." Meaning he only cares about money.

Crosshairs was sadly created during that awkward time of the G1 comics history, where too many characters came along all at once, and Budiansky was like "Fuck this, have a story about a car wash."

He got destroyed by Thunderwing (presumably) as he got blasted by the matrix powered mega pretender and was never mentioned again.
@@Triceratopping all headmasters, targetmasters, powermasters, and pretenders were immune due to being organic/Cybertronian hybrids. That and they were newer toys

Truth be told, I really enjoyed the exchanges between Crosshairs and Drift in Age of Extinction.
If only Drift actually looked like Drift lol
I'm always astounded by Bob Budiansky's ability to create separate individual personalities for literally hundreds of different robot toys. It must've been creatively exhausting for him. Yes, I know we're not talking about great literary characters here, but nevertheless he had to help the readers differentiate between what often were many samey looking toys
I also loved how their personalities were often thematically linked with their names
As a creative writer myself I'm kinda in awe of how he did this for so many years
Yeah! It’s really great stuff and those personalities can be fleshed out into some great characters, every last one of them imo. A shame so many are robbed of their spotlight or dismissed as “non-characters” for not having big fiction appearances

@@brawmankerlexterminateurde860 Jolt was one of the main characters of 2 installments of the UT, while thee movie version had 0 lines and was only called out once.
Its really sad how out of all of them only Barricade managed to become a staple character

It is a shame, but his legacy lived on through his Animated incarnation, which was quite inspired by the 2007 design.
The duster coat on the movieverse one is a bit ridiculous but I'm surprised they haven't made a Transformer that comes from a convertible that uses the cloth roof as like a cape.
That makes me think of Last Bot Standing.

People really don't know what a wrap on a car is do they you see sometimes instead of paint they put a big layer of I don't know what it is but it's like paper thin inflexible
This is a weird thing to say but I'm fascinated by how part of the car kibble becomes like a long coat and even how it moves like fabric, only in Transformers.
OK you see there's the thing calleda wrap Instead of painting the car they put something over it that I don't know what it is but you get like tuck it in all the crevice is in such and just like glue it on that's what it's trench code is look up a car wrap
@@plantainsame2049 I don't think it would actually be wrap which is plastic and would be way too fragile, more likely it's a Cybertronian material that's both solid and flexible because this is all make believe.

@@plantainsame2049 It would make more sense to have a quick release mechanism like Burnside Batgirl's cape. Also Transformers can reformat their bodies to take new vehicle forms so Transformium (or whatever they're made out of in the movies) is probably super strong, flexible and can change shape, colour and density on the fly. Again make believe.

I really love the AOE Autobots; their personalities and designs really sell the fact that these are essentially the only available Autobots able to respond to Optimus's call for aid, and what we end up with are more or less the worst of the worst, a pack of weirdos who don't really like each other all that much. Maybe its my immense Bayverse bias, and AOE being my favorite, but these Autobots were a lot of fun.
Also makes a ton of sense, they were on hiding before shit crumbled down since they dont usually get along all the time. Optimus just forced them to work together for once lol, good thing theres no thing like a autobot capitalism or they would be complaining constantly lmao
My boyfriend came into the room partway through me watching the episode. He saw the Strongarm repaint and thought that was who the episode was about. I told him it was Crosshairs, to which he responded "the self-important gunslinger from Age of Extinction?" I chuckled a bit when shortly after, the video got to that very iteration of the character. 😂
At this point, I think it's a very real question whether the movieverse Crosshairs can do the Knock Out or Bulkhead thing of displacing his older counterpart entirely. On the one hand, he's definitely more successful, on the other hand, well... fourth-at-best billing in the post-DOTM Michael Bay films is not exactly a high honor. I don't think it helps that his whole "car trenchcoat" design is infamously not very toy-friendly.
Also, consider he is dressed with his own flesh.

@@danielmedela8725 every transformer has their own sense of style plus scanning a new vehicle form to some bots and cons is the same as buying a new outfit .
At least he still has a better reputation them Mudflap 😅 (because even with Skids, Skids at least had a good IDW incarnetion. Mudflap on the other hand.... Besides Cybertron, he didn't have much luck)

Well, okay, he’s not *_NEARLY_* as much of a backstabber as Screamer, but he’s still spending a lotta time gloating about how he should be leader, so close enough for me. 😁
I'd say he's actually the *_opposite_* of Starscream, considering the only bot he follows without question is Optimus himself and he bickers and picks fights with everyone else.

Funny how original cartoon Crooshairs had red optics like a Decepticon instead of Autobot blue.
I would’ve loved if Crosshairs was given his own level in a High Moon style game. He could be given the ability to glide around using his parachutes, have his dual pistols. Maybe another of his special abilities would be letting him shoot rapid fire without any need for weapon cooldown for a few seconds or something.

It´s a piece of his own body he can trip on. Like those skin bags grannies have in the arms. Also, being the best lines on Bay-formers is not exactly a great bar to reach...

I have to admit that when I saw Crosshairs in Age of Extinction I thought he was meant to be Springer.

His G1 version also cameo’d early on as a background character in a few Armada scenes set on Cybertron
I actually do like how the live-action movie gave Crosshairs an Australian accent
Let's not forget that Age of Extinction Crosshairs got to ride the Spinosaurus Dinobot Scorn to defend Hong Kong in the film. So cool!
I hope you don't mind doing Bluestreak. He feels like an interesting character to make considering that he rarely appears outside G1 media but has almost always notable roles in those roles. His constant name change into Silverstreak is also interesting
Yea, or the sad fackt that... Even tho whenever Prowl gets a new toy, Smokescrean is usually the first in the line of repaints, not Bluestreak.
That, and the fackt that Smokescrean has way more figure represantations. A Prowl recolor or not.

the siege for cybertron truck mold was also used for Ratchet as well
I really do want to see the behind the scenes of the 2007 toy lion design, seems like they had to pump out 1 million different toys to build up synergy for that movie

I'm quite impressed from his origins came from a G1 Targetmaster to the version we know sincev Age of Extinction.
His AoE interpretation is easily the best one imo.

The movie gang in age of extinction always gave me wrecker vibes, I’ve always liked the idea of Optimus saying to cemetery wind and ultra Magnus coming down to take his place and leads the wreckers to become the new force of the auto bots on earth.

For whatever reason, this was 1 of the few original Transformer toys which survived my childhood days(purchased by my parents). Great video sir & I still like this guy!
I like the Bayverse design. That Robotrench is fire. Also dig OG CH’s blue & red color scheme. Have both Bot & Master from Siege. Good stuff!
I have a theory that originally they wanted to get Jason Statham for Age of Extinction, but for whatever reason they couldn't, so they wound up with John DiMaggio doing an impression of him.
That's actually a well known fact. Jason stateham and vin diesal were asked to play cade, vin was too busy and Jason had no interest

My favorite version of Crosshairs is obviously the movie version since he appeared in Transformers Age of Extinction. I also like his line in that movie that I kept reciting: "Time to lay some hate!" 😅😅😅
Crosshairs was also released in the studio series toyline as well based on his age of extinction appearance
Crosshairs is my favourite TargetMaster character, from the name, to his personality to His Design and as for my favourite version, I will always go for the original g1 version as I’m not a fan of his live action version
When I think Crosshairs (taking out the s) I think of the Clone Trooper from Clone Force 99 as seen in Star Wars: The Bad Batch. A character I didn't really care for at first but got more interesting as the series went on.

My absolute shock at the Bayverse Crosshairs popping up at the beginning. 🤣 I genuinely never connected these two characters at all.

Always had a love for this Transformer probably because the G1 cartoon talked like Clint Eastwood. Recently acquired both the G1 and the Siege toys they are both great. I already had the movie toy and yes the trenchcoat idea is Awesome. Sets him apart from all other movie Transformers.
Everyone can talk what they want about bayverse Crosshairs, it's one of my favorite transformers from ever, and i want to see him again in the future. That's a hill i'm dying for.

I absolutely loved Crosshairs' design in the Bayformers movies. I know it's a little bit out there with the trenchcoat but it's inspired me to make my own version of Crosshairs that's a mix of Boyformers Crosshairs and Transformers Prime Soundwave- wish I could show off the design here but this is just the yt comment section. Crosshairs needs a bit more love imo

Glad I managed to get my hands on the S.E.I.G.E one and his Targetmaster.
I didn't even realize he was in the bay movies, but then again I only ever subjected myself to the first one. I mostly remember him from the Marvel comic and even then only barely. It's funny that in Regeneration One he got his toy/anime style head finally, I guess he got rebuilt a bit sometime between issue 80 of the original run and then.
