    Entreched as hell. Thought you would haul that off on the right side looking up and daylight that so it can naturally drain. This thing is gonna blow out first rain storm unless paved.

    Those block style tracks on the 289 really help compact that road material in.

    289 is best most comfortable, powerful skid I've ever ran. But they r 20-25k higher than most brands. But it's a sweet tractor

    Why didn't you tailgate the road bond on this job? The first substantial rains will wash the gravel down to the road & create ravines on the drive, won't it?

    Wish I was closer. I'd come show u what thst 289 can do n a hurry. Is there a reason u didn't slope sides b4 putting base down?? Was just thinking all the twisting an turning on fresh stone to load out. Or even if u ran w drive it'll spill over on stone if not careful. Looks good though man. Wish I could find someone like u 2 work 4 on the side

    Out of curiosity, would you ever use big rock (like #2 or 3) as your first layer as opposed to road bond? I see that recommended quite a lot. As I said, just curious, since we have some pretty steep sections of our drive/road that need material on them, and trying to determine the best approach.

    • @erikcourtney1834
      @erikcourtney1834 Před 2 lety +2

      If the soil is a little soft I’ve used larger stone for a base. But not the whole driveway. It’s usually best to cut out the softer material and place dry compactable dirt.

    • @toucanvanbeak
      @toucanvanbeak Před 2 lety +2

      If its steep gravel wont stay without outsloping and ditching. Paving is a better option for steep. In the woods we always put down 10 inches of 3 inch compacted in 5 inch lifts then cap with 4 inches of 1 inch rock for traction. You tend to marble out and spin out on bigger stuff when steep.

    • @OneBrightLightTN
      @OneBrightLightTN Před rokem

      I was wondering that too. I’ve heard a lot of people say to put #2 as a base, then #57 in the middle and top with crusher run. Others say just dig down and only do crusher run 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @toucanvanbeak
      @toucanvanbeak Před rokem

      We have experimented with what we call a dirty 2 inch. We put down 12 inches in lifts but it has a lot of fines thats why we call it dirty sets up like asphalt. No base rock at all

    • @toucanvanbeak
      @toucanvanbeak Před rokem

      In idaho we have bassalt we can dig out thats 6 inches before its crushed so in my opinion its better to put that down first then do the 1 inch rock on top. Its basicay free and untreated takes a little more to work with but ids not crushed

    Does your machine seem to struggle to turn ? Like if you just hit the joystick all the way left or alll the way right , does it bog down a bit and not turn ?
    My 289d3 does that and its driving me crazy. Do these 289ds do this or is it just my machine

    • @DigginLife21

    Was straight up the only option for that driveway? Very steep, it there was room I would have wanted an S or C shape. But sometime you just have to make the best of what you got.

    Hey Todd, I’ve got the same truck and it’ll spin out if you spit in front of the tires. I’ve not noticed a way to lock the rear end on it. Could you possibly post a pic of where it’s located in your truck?

    • @jordanking9168
      @jordanking9168 Před rokem +1

      Hey Donnie, I don't have a pic unfortunately but if you look at the bottom right corner of the radio there will be a button you will hold it about 2 sec after that you will get the notification on your gauge cluster that indicates the rear end is locked
