"Get over here and hold this" Then he proceeds to go on a rant. Classic Flair. So sad these days of wrestling are gone. Feuds seemed so organic rather than forced or staged for the next PPV event. NWA / WCW wrestling on Saturday night was the best.
Check out BRUNO...The very awesome Sammartinmo documentary..Ivan greets him at the HOF induction..Very cool moment!...He was the one who took the belt from Bruno in 71..
Such great times in 1985, Ric Flair and his Horsemen, Magnum T.A., Dusty Rhodes, The Freebirds, Ivan and Nikita Koloff(With Krusher Kruschev) as “The World 6 Man Tag Team Champions”, and let’s not forget Jim Cornette’s Midnight Express along with the The Rock and Roll Express. Back at a time in Los Angeles when I would be watching all of this Every Saturday Afternoon at 3 P.M. on Superstation WTBS - Atlanta as World Championship Wrestling. How I would love to turn the clock back again.
I like the part where Nikita tries to rip the shirt in half and can’t so he tries biting it and gives up. Guess flair wasn’t lying about the quality of the clothes he wore.
If I remember correctly, this was right before their cage match - in which once again, The Koloffs beat him up and once again Dusty Rhodes showed up, but so did The Andersons, and they beat the shit out of Dusty and were hated from that day on
You are. Correct sir...man those were great times...I was in ft Gordon GA at the time all this happened...but we always managed to make it to the day room on Saturday afternoon and watch this
This had to be the week before Ric’s classic “spilt liquor” rant - one of the greatest promos of all time. Loved The Russians back then...their classic battles with the Road Warriors were epic. Heel vs. heel...awesome!
I recall that during this period, Flair was a full-on tweener. He had to be as NWA champion. He was taking on heels in some territories and faces in others. For example, in JCP he not only faced the Koloffs, but he also worked against Tully and Buddy Landell. The latter were managed by JJ Dillon.
Probably one of the last times you'll ever see that, too! In front of the fans, they were never best of friends. In this case, however, Dusty must've felt obligated to help Ric Flair, even if they had been enemies in the past. Wrestling, just like Politics, makes for strange bedfellows... dont'cha think?!?
The build up to what became one of the great double crosses ever and the formation of the Four Horsemen. Great times,NWA house shows back then was the best pro wrestling these eyes have ever seen.
@@benjones9849 Basically he turned face for a while that summer to fight Nikita at the Bash, just to make the turn on Dusty more powerful and meaningful once it happened during the cage match. The short face turn was a strategy to boost tickets sales for the Bash and then Starrcade after the heel turn.
The whole breaking Dusty's ankle in the omni cage with the Andersons almost causing a riot (after Ivan & Nikita beat and blooded flair) was one of the best angles of the decade! Flair got over the top heat on him for that angle & it marked the genesis of the Four horsemen era.
This is something Vince McMahon could never understand also Vince McMahon can't stand seeing this or any of this video from the old NWA days especially on CZcams and the fans that continue to leave comments today. This will always be in Vince McMahon's thorn in his side, because his company could never be like this. And you'll never see anything like this again, this was one of those shooting stars, you seen it once and if you were lucky to ride it then you got lucky and in the 80s and early 90s we were lucky enough to be able to have this. This only comes around once in a lifetime, you'll never have wrestlers like this from the NWA even their promos and interviews were top-notch. You just won't ever see that ever again. This is what keeps Vince McMahon up late nights, he could never achieve what they've done here in the 80s and the NWA. End of story...
love the figure 4. Me and my cousin use to wrestle each other when were kids mimicking the wrestlers from the NWA. I would get put in the figure 4 And man that move really works! Hurts like hell.
Man, nobody.....and I mean NOBODY did it like The Nature Boy!!!!! Not even to this day, The Rock was the closest thing, but not the later Rock. The 500 hundred dollar shirt wearing Rock!!
Flair was a face in the Mid-Atlantic area at this time, but worked heel in most of the other territories (Florida, World Class, Mid-South). Atlanta he was more face than heel since the Crocketts were running the show. About three months later, Flair started the Horseman era when he and the Anderson broke Dusty's leg in the cage after a Flair-Koloff match

Holy shit yes
RIP to Uncle Ivan. By the time he passed, his entire body was busted up. He gave it all to wrestling.
Nikita Koloff was the Proto-Goldberg & Proto-Stone Cold. The man was a freaking beast!
The Storytelling of the NWA in the 80s was Unparalleled & Untouchable!
facts
This is why I loved Flair! In his prime he could wrestle everybody, good, bad, it didn’t matter! He was what a real champ was!
I agree
"I'm looking for a chauffer , you're hired" lol Flair and his promos ☺
That shit was soon funny 🤣
I always loved how the bad guys scattered like cockroaches when helped arrived outside of the ring.
How good is that shirt Ric Flair is wearing! Nikita Koloff couldn't rip it apart! That's quality.
Custom made from head to toe. Woooooo!!
He even try to bite it apart.

LOL Made in the USA baby!
For us gen exers living in the tail end of the Cold War the koloffs were a special kind of heel. Great times!
Nikita was ruthless....him and Krusher Krushev
This was something I remember that makes me feel great to be apart of NWA wrestling on TBS even though it took a crazy turn
And folks thinking they were actually from the Soviet Union
@@tomconstance2391 I was one of them people who thought they were

He gets his ass beat and then after that, cuts a promo. Classic Ric Flair
From the Russian Nightmare to a Pastor in North Carolina.
He was a heck of a beast in the ring!🤠🤗
We all have our personal journeys. What happens if the tithe plate is short? Evangelic Sickle to the bishop.
Flair, Koloff, Rhodes --- holy moly the talent level
Legendary.
Classic! I miss the old TBS shows.

Heel Vs. Heel in the 80s...
Best story lines out there.
I did not miss none of this on Saturday afternoons back in the 80s when I was a kid 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😅😅😅😅
No sure didn’t
When it comes to wrestling, i really enjoy living in the past!
R.I.P. Ivan Koloff... Real name Oreal Perras. This was one of my favorite episodes from back in the day watching NWA wrestling on Saturday afternoons.
Check out BRUNO...The very awesome Sammartinmo documentary..Ivan greets him at the HOF induction..Very cool moment!...He was the one who took the belt from Bruno in 71..
Man, oh man! I miss these days of Psycho Flair :) still one of the best to ever touch a mic and cut a promo :)
Flair doing a promo before and after. Greatness

This was wrestling at its finest!!!!!!!
One of the best Ric Flair clips ever. I like the one they used to show the Russians training and obsessing over beating Ric Flair.
DONT YOU TELL ME NOTHING THE SHOW AINT OVER YET!!!!!
Think of how rarely you saw heel vs heel back then. Great stuff
Flair wasn't heel here. Dusty came out to help him and he was defending America.
Flair could go back and forth, but really only in JCP. Everywhere else he was a heel.
@@jaythor70 Even at his heel-iest, Flair was so over it didn't matter. Everyone loved him, even when they hated him.

Fantastic angle. From the video it looked like the crowd at the Omni wanted to kill Flair and the Andersons. Great memories.
This was the prelude to the 4 Horsemen
@ Ronald Shank that was all setup by Dusty
Hitting Schiavone with that jacket was so freaking hilarious! Nobody entertained like Flair, NO ONE!
Here David, hold my Rolex while I turn my back so Nikita can hit me with the sickle.
