The rivalry with Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes was one of the best rivalries of the 80's. On one side you got Dusty Rhodes, son of a plumber, representing the middle class blue collar workers. On the other side, you have Ric Flair, with the lear jets, limos and the women, etc. Dusty had the shuck and jive soul type promo, Ric Flair always bragged about having the "biggest house on the biggest hill" and "kissed every woman in the world and made em cry" etc. Their world title matches against each other were always great. Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair always brought out the best in each other but in the end, it all came down to who was the better man.

Not a bad word about Dusty? Ask Tommy Rich; The Rock n Roll Express; Baby Doll; The Road Warriors, and everybody else that was Over when he was booker, about how he had to work himself into their angles to take some of their shine. At first, I didn't get why Dusty is so beloved, cuz I was born in the ruthless aggression era, after watching some of his match, some of his promos, I realized that Dusty is way ahead of his time, A people's man, a very charismatic wrestler that hooks you in in his matches whether he lose or win. He really was the embodiment of American Dream, and to see his sons, to be successful in their own way, makes me root for the Rhodes even more.

@@richieanderson3040 Hey, brother! First, thanks for your service and sacrifice. Your family's too. People don't understand they serve too.
From '88 to we left for Desert Shield/Storm, I was in 4th Battalion 70th Armor, 1st Armored Division, Erlangen West Germany. Man, I miss Germany. That place was awesome back then. What about you, brother?

@@TheMichaelBeck Definitely Mike, my sentiments as well. I was stationed in Nurenberg actually Furth from 89' to 92'. I was in F. Co 123rd support battalion and I did the whole Desert Storm thing. But, again, I want to echo your sentiments Germany was and still is the greatest duty station I ever had. So many days I reminisce about the camaraderie I had with my brothers and the Love German women had for us, let me rephrase that because Germany was like NY just a big melting pot of different nationalities that loved us (lol). Also, I loved it so much I thought about finishing my last yr and staying there. But, unfortunately when I reenlisted my post closed and I ended up going to the worst duty station there is..imo and that's Ft.Drum..Actually, I try to go back once a yr but you wouldn't recognize it now; it's changed so much and because American presence isn't as prevalent as it once was our culture and influence there has changed. Also, I used to party every wk'n in Munich and you have to realize at least for me that would've been my college yrs and partying in Munich and Nurnberg was ''UNBELIEVABLE''..Well, take care of yourself and it's always cool talking to one of my Army Brothers!!!!!

@@richieanderson3040 My favorite club was in Nuremberg. If you know of or say that you were there when I was, I'll shite and fall back in it. "The Green Goose". It was a block away from the McDonald's in the city center and near the train station, next to "The Wall", a short walk from the red light district. You remember the "Goose", I'll be blown away. I went to Furth a few times. Never made it Munich but went to Heidelberg 3 times. I'm really disappointed that I never went to Normady and paid my respect to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. Yes, the people loved us. I loved throwing MREs and candy to the kids as we drove through Erlangen with our tanks. Kids loved it, adults, not so much. Especially when some idiot tears up the curb or road with the tank. They learned quickly not to get behind us like they did the M60A3. Our M1A1 jet turbine would melt the paint and plastic on their cars in less than a minute. All great memories. The beautiful, amazing, and affectionate 😉 ladies. They LOVED us American soldiers. Best beer in the world, best job I ever had, best time of my life. Take care of yourself, brother! 🇺🇸🤜☠🇷🇺☠🤛🇺🇦

@@TheMichaelBeck Aah Man small world. If you were stationed in Nurnberg/Furth everyone knows the ''Green Goose''..that's one of the most iconic spots in that area along with Club ''Maryland'' & Club Hollywood in downtown Nurnberg..I partied there quite often, but just to break the monotony me & my friends would travel to Munich to get away from the same faces we saw all week lol..And I feel the same way I didn't get a chance to visit Normandy to pay my respects but at that time life was coming at us so fast and so much to do and not enough time to do it. As I said before I miss it more than anything in this world I relive something everyday about my time in Germany and I try to tell my friends they have to go just to experience the culture...America will always be home but Germany isn't that far behind because I consider that my home away from home..Just typing this feels me up with so many emotions & memories and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about my Brother...So, take care and never forget those Good Times in Deutschland because it'll never forget us.......

That classic Heel turn when Rhodes put the first Bionic Elbow upside of Pak Song Nam's Noggin and the subsequent selling of the move by Pak Song is some of the best stuff in CWF history.

I first saw Dusty Rhodes on World Wide Wrestling (NWA) over 40 years ago, when I was in my early teens. This guy had a verbal gift, as well as a ton of energy and charisma. Whenever Dusty came onto the screen, I knew that, to paraphrase UWF’s/WWE’s good ol’ JR (Jim Ross), business was about to pick up.

My earliest memories in the 80's my brother and I would see Dusty on NWA on Saturday nights and we would beat each other into oblivion. He would talk and we were captivated. We went nuts when he'd come in for a save versus the heels. Dusty moved people. He was a true genius

I miss Dusty. I met him at an FCW show. He took one look at my girlfriend, a brazilian chick with a huge perfect rump, and he said "Got dam" when she walked by. I took that as a very high compliment. Other wrestlers tried to approach her and give her their number and I just laughed at them. But the fact dusty thought my side chick was a smoke show after all he's seen was a very high compliment. Dude was the MAN
