I just love the emperor more..and got inspired by the way wei yinglou addresses her thoughts. So adorable both of them.
God this lady is a laugh. She is so good for him brings out his playful side that is what he loves about her .

Have you guys realized that this drama is in the same plot line as Ruyi’s Love in the Palace? It’s fascinating how two dramas can portray the same set of characters so differently. I liked the Ruyi drama and felt so much for the Empress cos that drama places her as the protagonist of the story but the Story of Yanxi Palace portrayed its protagonist, Consort Ling, as a much more interesting character we can all love because of her wits and genius. The Empress in Ruyi’s drama was witty and a genius too but she was rendered weak by her love for the Emperor. Consort Ling on the other hand, does everything to a tea but with reservations. She doesn’t give the Emperor everything he desires and keeps some for herself.
They are the same emperor and concubines just told from different perspectives

I've been watching the drama short clips over and over again. The dialogues are really good. Among the emperor's harem, only Wei Ying Lou WYL rise from bottom to top. She was an embroidery maid, then a Lady in waiting for the empress, then demoted to the lowest of low palace maid, cleaning poo poo buckets. Upon the death of the empress, she became a caretaker of empress altar. Upon the Queen's mothers birthday, she became a noble lady, to Imperial Concubine Ling. It was a long road laden with schemes, death, betrayal, favored , unfavored.
Only WYL can pull off wearing like a messenger and the one she's wearing while telling stories to the queen. Very good drama indeed.

This is still airing in the Philippines but I've already watched the full episodes. I really like them. They have that spark despite their age gap. I also watched their comeback in 'The Legend of Haolan', I was just disappointed when Haolan married the King of Qin. So for me, the story of yanxi palace is still the best. I've kept my dvd copy of this drama. But I still watch this here multiple times. Love this.
