I will try this but I also have a question. I used to eat at a great chinese restaurant but moved away. They served their stirfried green beans with bits of a fermented vegetable...they didn't know the english name. I looked and looked and thought it might have been fermented mustard, idk. Do you have any ideas. Those beans were so good. Maybe it was fermented black beans? Have you ever made green beans with these beans?
I love this flavour too. However, after washing, I heat them in a little pan for half a minute or so. Enhances the fragrances, according to my feelings.
I didn’t know that i have to wash it before cooking, i bought a sachette one and i poured it including the juices. Now im scared that might make me feel sick or something…

I love that flavor too. I steam fish with chopped fresh ginger and just toss a small amount of black beans over the fish.
The jarred version sounded like the easier way to go until he showed us that all you need to do is rehydrate the fermented dried beans haha Hsieh-Hsieh, can’t wait to get some at our Asian market!

We use these all the time in stir fries at home! We have some fermented with garlic!
Accidentally bought the chili oil with black beans and don't know what to do with it. Do you have any recipes? I found one that mixes it with chow fun noodles but that's all

Do you soak them to reduce the salt content, or to soften them, or both? The ones I have already seem kinda soft right out of the pack tbh, hence the question.
The ones he probably using are properly dehydrated, it’s not to remove salt as such.
But wash to remove any grit. Then soak to rehydrate
Please give us the recipe as the video had cut off before we saw how the black bean sauce was done.

No jar for me …. Made from scratch is sooo much more fragrant and much much much cheaper. When I showed my son how much cheaper ….he ain’t buying that bottle again. Gosh …. I am missing my dim sum …we just got out of locked down this week. But with 50% capacity and Chinese lunar new year , no way we can get a reservation this week. Spare ribs in black bean sauce, one of my favourite…yummm.

I'm terrified and disgusted by dau si. They used to cook this every damm day in the army with their disgusting frozen chicken or frozen pork cube, its just so gross.
