One thing that I have always admired about LL as a younger hip hop fan is his charisma. This guy is in his mid-50s and still captures my attention with his personality.

I don’t care what anyone says Hip Hop is back! It’s the verity of Hip Hop that makes it what it is, when all the genres of Hip Hop can coexist at the same time is what makes it unique. Hip Hop saved my life and raised me, these men and women gave me so much wisdom growing up without a father. I’m a 80’s baby and a 90’s kid, I am apart of the first generation of Hip Hop kids and I’m so proud of this last great American art form.

Hip Hop memories
I remember my pops bought this album and didn't even listen to Hip Hop at the time while working at Roadium swap meet in Compton California, selling furniture with Pop's and my older brother Manny.
My pops Pedro, bought Black Panther by LL Cool J in 1989 from the his Asian friend who sold
99 cent stuff before the 99cent store but also sold Hip Hop tapes singles and entire albums along with "The Great adventures of Slick Rick' Oh man those became Staples in my Puerto Rican household growing up.
My pops played
" A Teenage Love" over and over.
I believe that week or sometime around that year I made enough money on a Saturday working at that outdoor swap meet with my pop's enough to buy my first cassette tape ever. I bought the single from Biz Markle "just a friend with the instrumental on the b side and my brother bought Digital Underground "Humpty Dance"
It wasn't the first hip hop we were listening to but it was the first cassette tape I ever owned personally.
Along with my older big brother Pete, who was already playing this stuff in his room like Rodney O & Joe Cooley West Coast legends while we we're living in Paramount California, working at the outdoor swap meet on the weekends all over Southern Cal.
Add the visiting the Bronx with my mom's via Greyhound every summer since 84/85.
It wouldn't be long before I started playing that LL Cool J Black panther cassette daily and it became a favor to my household.
It wasn't long after I wanted to be like that "I'm that type of guy" along with
Slick Ricks "Hey young World" Hip Hop was in my blood.
The good old crazy days....
It's all love ❤ from then 2 now and beyond.

Canibus, Red & Meth and X’s verses, all arguably better than L’s. And that’s no disrespect to him as it wasn’t a bad verse, just not the best.
Also, Canibus eviscerated him lyrically with 2nd round KO. Anyone who says different is biased. LL obviously won the war but he lost that battle.

Okay I’ll start it! I am devoted to lyrics sampling and boom bap as the foundation of the culture. That being said I appreciate Ross’ artistry more than I will take time to explain but I wanted to hear more from his verse; particularly in that middle emcee position. What Tip did sonically goes without saying and should be studied in music classes.
