It baffles me when some reviewers say they didn't find the love story compelling in the original trilogy. I thought Carrie-Anne and Keanu did a fantastic job as the love story between Neo and Trinity is central to the entire story.

They look good for their age but let's be honest.. Physical aging has never been the thing that has made anyone look better. Confidence, calmness, wisdom and healthier living (that for some only comes later in life) is what can make someone "look better" as they get older. It's not about aging per se. It's more common that people just mentally decline as they age. There's nothing positive with physical aging. It kills us and the people we love. It should be classified as the ultimate disease so we can speed up the scientific research that will find ways to reverse it. Trinity is one of the greatest and most under-rated action heroes out there, male or female. I loved the character because while Neo was essentially Superman, it was Trinity, Morpheus and the others who were at dire risk every time they entered the Matrix. This always raised the stakes for these characters and made Trinity stand out. She was both graceful yet fast and ruthlessly lethal in how she engaged - every movement was deliberate, committed and focused. Despite the danger, Trinity never relinquished control of a situation. When Merovingian was toying with them, it was Trinity who seized the initiative and turned the heat up to 11 with an ultimatum and a gun to his head. When a thug tried to escort her out of the restaurant meeting, she - without looking at him - stated "touch me, and that hand will never touch anything again'. And by this time in the story - we all knew she meant it. When Trinity says anything - she bloody well means it and you best heed her warning. But despite all this, she was still also a caring, empathetic soul who cared for Neo and those around her. It wasn't either or - she had it all and yet it wasn't forced. Carrie Anne played her perfectly and I am thrilled to have her back. (PS - I love Neo too LOL ; )
When Carrie-Anne says that "Keanu has a masterful understanding of action" and he starts shaking his head 'no'....this is something that Keanu cannot deny even if you are only being humble.
I noticed that, he is so incredibly humble that he can't take compliments, he wants all the praise or accolades to go to other people. He doesn't see how special a person he is and I bet he hates being called famous or a celebrity, to him it's just his job and he's just a regular guy. 👍
He probably does it out of fear of feeding his ego. Everybody has an ego, but if you feed it too much it can go to your head and cause egocentrism. Hence his deflection and unacceptance of compliments.
Yeah it's called modesty and humility something people nowadays lack due to being overly privileged and never having to earn anything through hard work but taking credit for what others do.
He's just super humble naturally, but he knows. He's worked with some of the best stunt choreographers in the business. He's become one of those super-pro actors who can do a lot of their own stunts, but he defers to the real stunt pros almost always.
The Matrix is the only movie I saw back to back. Watched it. Then ate some Chinese food. Then went straight back and watched it again. I'm thrilled to see them kick ass again!!
I'm glad they brought back Carrie-Anne Moss for the sequel. Usually when a sequel is made, an actress in her 20s replaces the original actress who would be in her 50s, and that is a shame. We talk about women empowerment all the time. Women empowerment shouldn't just be about empowering and giving all the opportunities to women in their 20s and 30s, but also and especially giving a chance to women who are 50+. Not being critical towards age-gap couples onscreen or offscreen, but it looks more aesthetically pleasing when the male and female lead fall in the same age-group. Let's show more love to actresses who are 50+ just as we show so much love to all the actors who are 50+ too. Can't wait to watch this.
Im so happy they didn't do that, especially when they choose someone new to play and old role they never played before. Im 100% down with the idea of giving the glory to the actors who made their own roles into a thing. I can't imagine ANY different person be able to play Trinity like Carrie-Anne did. Same goes for Neo, it wouldn't be the same letting someone else play that part just because he is younger. The actors definitely aged, but so is the story. Which gives more sense to let the original actors play their original roles.
I'm 20 years younger than one of my absolute closest friends and we both are gravel cyclists, she won a single speed title at a 200 miles gravel race, at 52! Boss!!! But the point is Hollywood shouldn't be afraid to dol like what Lana's doing and actually cast the actors at their age. They are bad asses!!! Bad ass roles!

These two starred in literally one of the greatest films EVER made. I don't think they realize it still to this day. When the original Matrix came out it was so mind-blowing not just from a storytelling perspective but a visual effects level. You can't not love Keanue as well.
I think you need to be a particular age group to truely apreciate the gravitas of the original film. It changed cinema, it was SO new and fresh and still has a very distinctive style. I REALLY hope the new one captures that!
Not even just that the story and it’s general plot was so thought provoking to a lot of people who experienced cognitive dissonance and gave them an outlook that assists them with discernment in all areas of the their lives. Above all, Keanu's a film nerd. Whenever he's describing a detail about his character or whatever story he's working with, he always sounds so excited and enthusiastic.
I cannot flippin' wait for this movie. Seeing Carrie-Anne Moss and Keanu Reeves returning as Trinity and Neo after 20 years is so incredible. I was 14 when The Matrix Revolutions came out. It's amazing to get to relive the magic as an adult.
I was 30 when the first movie came out, and I went out of the Theater, and paid again to watch it again.... the only other time I did such thing was with Star Wars (Episode IV, V, VI) The Matrix, can be so political, radical, Romantic, spiritual all at the same time in so many different ways. ..."Do you want to know what it is...The Matrix is everywhere, its all around us" ..."You take the Red Pill, you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes"
I pray no one takes advantage of Keanu’s kindness. I hear all the time he takes pay cuts to help others and just pray he is never taken for granted. Such a gem in an often ugly industry.

Those 2 are on a whole another level of real acting. You can even call them Reactors & Reactresses. They have invested their whole being into who that they portray & it is real acting, Reacting. Imagine what would have happened on the set of Rust if Alec Baldwin had prepared & became a Reactor on the set of Rust? One things for sure, there wouldn’t have been a fatality.
I’ll never forget watching the original film back in ‘99 with my dad. The theater was packed and the audience was in absolute awe. At 11 years old I had never seen anything like The Matrix up to that point. Can’t wait for this next one
I was 15, they took us from school to the movies, you can imagine a bunch of teenagers reacting to it, I can remember all of us getting out of the movie theater in silence, we all where trying to process the awesomeness of it. I remember one of my friends saying “my mind has been violated” and we all started discussing real vs virtual reality. It really made us think. Not to mention we all bought the soundtrack, back in the day there was no youtube.
Keanu is never that relaxed about talking about a co-star or being talked about by a co-star. So you get the level of their relationship; so deep, respectful, and lovely.

it is true though. Great to see them together again. In relation to the Matrix, seeing Keanu and Carrie, vs Morpheus and Niobe, you really do feel the connection, that is good storytelling. I think Carrie is a great actress! Shame we couldnt get Laurence Fishburne, but the title of the film says it all, you never know? Might we get lucky down the line? Could he return in the sequel (if there is one?)

I’ve seen Keanu in so many movies, including the Matrix…..and he is always so serious…..except in this and a few other interviews on the Resurrection of the Matrix, he smiles so big and it’s beautiful to see.

I have always loved this love story the most. Neo is the one, but he's nothing without Trinity. She's tough and smart and loyal and so badass, without giving up an ounce of feminity. She rocks. And I love actors who come back like this, remembering where they come from. Respecting what they did in the past. I am so looking forward to this.

Keanu described Carrie as Trinity pitch perfectly: she absolutely leaps off the screen. I can’t think of another actress ever who can command so much power and strength simply from a glance.

What I love most about this is that you can see how these two people are so deeply connected to each other in their own way. It's touching to see how much they appreciate and admire each other, how they see each other's strengths, how they voice their admiration about each other and how they ultimately know that this journey is what it is because they took it together. They took that leap holding hands from day 1 and here we are, 22 years later. To me, this is the greatest thing that came out of the Matrix franchise: Neo and Trinity's love that translates into this beautiful friendship between Keanu and Carrie-Anne. i was sad to hear the release of john wick 4 pushed back. I was going to be the one doing the double whammy and seeing both john wick and matrix on the same day. At least back when that was the release plan of both films coming out the same time.

It's not necessarily time, some people just click like that. I met someone 6 months ago and we're already better friends than with anyone else in my whole life. We just understand each other on such a fundamental level that it's almost like we're the same person living two lives in parallel.

Me too. May 20, 1999. The Friday after I graduated high school. The first time I saw it was on a date, but 1st date anxiety kept me from taking it all in. I only skimmed how amazing it was. So, I went back the next day by myself and was blown away.
I can only imagine how epic it looked on the big screen. I wasn't even born when it came out but when I watched as a kid it became one of my favorite movies of all time especially the first one.
The Matrix was/is my favorite movie of all time. It is a movie with so many layers, pretty fascinating actually. When I found out they were doing this again I was over the moon! Keanu is still as amazing as I remember him ❤️

The Matrix was a huge thing back then. At least amongst our group of friends. I like to think of it as kind of a generational experience, even though it probably wasn't THAT big of a deal to the population at large. I guess at sixteen years old, I was the perfect subject for this movie. I went to watch it in a movie theater with one friends, and our minds were totally blown. Only other movie from that era, that had a similar effect on me was Saving Private Ryan.
Please don't be bad. Matrix 1, along with LOTR has a special place in my heart. I watched that movie on VHS 50 times in a month. I was seven or eight years old.
7.30 minute they look so cute smiling almost blushing remembering some good moments. How long have i waited for them to pair up again even in an interview setting, you can see their chemistry- they look so relaxed and comfortable around each other, supporting eachother. Its so amazing. Cant wait for the movie. Love these two 💕
Both amazing actors, briefly met and shook his hand many years ago around the time chain reaction came out. Seems like a really down to earh guy unlike most in hollywood. Years later proved to be true after watching numerous videos of him interacting with fans and general public. Never realized how lucky i was just for the chance of a handshake and a hello so many years ago.

It’s insane to think I watched this movie in theaters right when I graduated from HS. It’s crazy for me to think that this generation wasn’t apart of this groundbreaking movie where I fell in love with Neo and Trinity. Absolutely mind blowing to me!
I was born in '85 and remember going with my brother (whos 9 years older) when it came out. We didn't shut up the entire ride home talking about it haha. I also remember DVDs were just blowing up when it came out on video & I got it & a surround sound system for xmas that year and played it over and over and over... had to crank up the subwoofer for when the helicopter crashes into the side of the building while trinity is swinging. That & Saving Private Ryan were THE 2 DVDs to own....
I thought I had heard it's planned as a 2-parter, but only if fan reception for this film is strong enough to warrant making it. If the fans trash the hell out of it we might never get the next part. So be kind even if it's not perfect people. The next part could be a masterwork.

I first watched the matrix on VHS as a 10 year old in late 1999 / early 2000. I’m 32 now but I can clearly remember the day I rented it from blockbuster. My mom did not have to approve because it was rated 10 in South Africa. She always took me to the video shop. Watching this, and all the teasers & trailer, has reignited all those feelings and awesome memories. It’s so amazing to see Carrie and Keanu together again as Trinity and Neo. I can’t wait to see this film in the cinema and hopefully one day I too can share this franchise with my children. Thanks mom x

Its a weird thing to be in the industry as long as Keanu and still be such a good guy. It’s not great to label actors nice/kind whatever etc. when you really don’t know them but every story I’ve ever read/seen about Keanu has always been good. Same goes for Neo, it wouldn't be the same letting someone else play that part just because he is younger. The actors definitely aged, but so is the story. Which gives more sense to let the original actors play their original roles.

These two starred in literally one of the greatest films EVER made. I don't think they realize it still to this day. When the original Matrix came out it was so mind-blowing not just from a storytelling perspective but a visual effects level. You can't not love Keanue as well.

I’ll never forget watching the original film back in ‘99 with my dad. The theater was packed and the audience was in absolute awe. At 11 years old I had never seen anything like The Matrix up to that point. Can’t wait for this next one

Not to mention we all bought the soundtrack, back in the day there was no youtube.

What I love most about this is that you can see how these two people are so deeply connected to each other in their own way. It's touching to see how much they appreciate and admire each other, how they see each other's strengths, how they voice their admiration about each other and how they ultimately know that this journey is what it is because they took it together. They took that leap holding hands from day 1 and here we are, 22 years later. To me, this is the greatest thing that came out of the Matrix franchise: Neo and Trinity's love that translates into this beautiful friendship between Keanu and Carrie-Anne. The Matrix was a huge thing back then. At least amongst our group of friends. I like to think of it as kind of a generational experience, even though it probably wasn't THAT big of a deal to the population at large. I guess at sixteen years old, I was the perfect subject for this movie. I went to watch it in a movie theater with one friends, and our minds were totally blown. Only other movie from that era, that had a similar effect on me was Saving Private Ryan.

I also remember DVDs were just blowing up when it came out on video & I got it & a surround sound system for xmas that year and played it over and over and over... had to crank up the subwoofer for when the helicopter crashes into the side of the building while trinity is swinging. That & Saving Private Ryan were THE 2 DVDs to own....

It gives me so much happiness to see these two together again, reprising their timeless roles.
I first watched the matrix on VHS as a 10 year old in late 1999 / early 2000. I’m 32 now but I can clearly remember the day I rented it from blockbuster. My mom did not have to approve because it was rated 10 in South Africa. She always took me to the video shop. Watching this, and all the teasers & trailer, has reignited all those feelings and awesome memories. It’s so amazing to see Carrie and Keanu together again as Trinity and Neo. I can’t wait to see this film in the cinema and hopefully one day I too can share this franchise with my children. Thanks mom x
Hard same. I first watched the original when I was 10 back in '99. It was Thanksgiving and my dad and uncles brought me downstairs to my grandparents' basement watch this wild new movie on the big screen TV. My understanding of what movies could do changed that day.

Its a weird thing to be in the industry as long as Keanu and still be such a good guy. It’s not great to label actors nice/kind whatever etc. when you really don’t know them but every story I’ve ever read/seen about Keanu has always been good. Dude is genuinely humble and you can just tell by looking at him and his mannerisms that he’s a genuine dude
