  • We offer an explanation here to clear up what "type" means on a SPD (Surge Protective Device). A quick slide shows how NEC 280 and NEC 285 differentiage surge arresters from surge protective devices. More time is then devoted to an illustration that defines Type 1, 2, 3, and 4 per SPDs as defined by NEC Article 285 and UL1449 (4th Ed).

    Pictures and wiring diagrams to distinguish Type 1 from Type 2 would be VERY helpful.

      Sorry about your experience. I have reviewed the video you are referencing and it does not have a musical sound track associated with it. The video I reviewed was on Surge Protection. If it is a different video in question please let me know.
