Suchity, shop online for blinds. They are not expensive. They bring home samples, take order and install. All new construction in the US have central air, though we have short summers.
Room darkening curtains work well too. Our house is east facing and kitchen is facing west, gets very hot.

Double layer might help u with heat
And for one layer u can go for room darkening curtains

Suchi, make palak patra
Take lots of palak in a big bowl. Add besan flour. And a few tablespoons of rice flour. Add ginger, chilli and garlic paste according to your taste. Salt, turmeric, chilli powder, cumin coriander powder, sugar or jaggery powder. Lemon juice. The taste has to be like khata mitha. A few teaspoons of oil and half a teaspoon 19:10 of baking soda. Mix and add just a little water to mix. Steam like dhokla for 15 to 20 minutes. Once cool cut in small pieces. In a wok take a few tablespoons of oil add mustard seeds once cracked add sesame seeds, curry leaves then add cut patra in it. Stir fry few minutes. You could add crushed peanuts in tadka too. Squeeze little lemon juice if you like and sprinkle cilantro and dry coconut powder if you like. It's very healthy and super tasty. ( Do not add too much besan one to two cups according to your spinach. )
Try making it you like since you have fresh spinach. Search for spinach patra recipe in U Tube.

You need to first tie up ur hair during hot weather, basic wear cotton clothes . Look into coolers. Share the link for the knife u were using to cut lettuce when u were making the salad .

We're experiencing an unusual record heat wave - 40 degree temperatures since a week - n our ac also doesn't work 😅 my husband n i actually dont mind the heat after the long winter but can't say the same for the other members 😂

In India we use the blackout in lining, so the main fabric can be of our choice and happily nowadays the blackout lining comes in a variety of colours. Like in my bedroom we have cream textured curtain with off white blackout lining attached..and it is functioning beautifully .

We here in California are also experiencing serious heat wave resulting in very high temperature.
Looking at climate change you should invest in standing fans, Costco has very good deals. Remember two story houses get much more hotter on upper level. My 2 cent. Please do a complete house tour, so that I can do changes in my house too🤣🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We have triple digits almost till Halloween. But this year the weather has been unpredictable. We had hurricane Beryl so a little bit cooler temps for a couple of days but now back to normal.

Canadian homes too like UK homes don’t have central AC and heating system? This is unbelievable .
Then does it get really warm inside the house in summer when the temps are hot?
I think I already answered you about this in previous comment. In Canada we do have centralized heating because winters are harsh however summers are not that bad so every house don’t have AC , that’s a choice owner can get it installed

You can get black stick on film from Home Depot . It is very very easy to install and take it off. It comes in a roll like aluminum foil. . Clean the window first , cut the film to the desired size , then spray some water on the glass and the film will stick. As easy as that. Since there is only water , it is also easy to take it off too.
Or you can install solar shades from outside. Best decision we made. For that you will ask a company to do it. Here we have lone star solar shades . You can install only for one window or all . The price is the same.
Also what sort of flooring do you have ? Is it luxury vinyl flooring which is water proof? Is it better than tiles.
We are thinking of changing. Our flooring .
