Boarding school isn’t just a place for misbehaved kids and in fact the best schools in the UK (and arguably worldwide) are boarding schools. In the more upper tiers of British society the questions “What school did you go to?” And “ah day boy or boarder?” Aren’t just casual interest - it’s people working out where you fall in the social hierarchy. The best schools are some of the London ones including Eton and Harrow (the ones most people have heard of in passing) and some in Switzerland. Being a boarder is better than being a day boy because boarding is more expensive and insinuates that you come from a better background. A lot of boarding schools in London are single sex but more are moving towards co-Ed whereas most of the Swiss boarding schools are co-Ed.
The upper classes pay for these schools more for the social connections rather than the academics (although those are usually pretty great as well). The rich bank on the fact that connections are more important than ability and if your kid goes to school with and makes friends with the future king or the child of a billionaire then that will probably be more helpful in their life than getting top grades at school. This has been a staple part of British culture for eons and you’ll find that a lot of top politicians, judges, and bankers went to one of these schools.
If you’d like to see a film that shows this culture at its worst then I would recommend the film The Riot Club which is based on the play Posh and deals with the problematic history of the bullingdon club at Oxford (there are branches in Oxford and Cambridge and many clubs like it at all of the UKs elite universities- especially Exeter Durham and St Andrews). The bullingdon clubs ex members include current Prime Minister Boris and former PM David Cameron. There is also a big reference to this culture in movies such as Kingsman.

Benji is actually ANNOYINGLY good at that. Horror, comedy, drama - it doesn't matter! He can guess almost every plot point coming up.
The show has been over for a couple years but please consider doing Sense8 in the future. A beautiful show that needs a bigger audience

You have a different definition of boarding school than me. At least in my country boarding school is for the smart kids and we have to take admissions exams to get in because education here is free so its a way to invest on kids.While some kids do attend for better classes, others attend to have year long parties basically. Like they do the minimum they need to just so they dont get kicked out and just go around having fun,I have very fond memories of it,the friends you make while literally living with them are closer than in a regular school.

The first season still gets my heart racing if I think about it. The second season wasn’t as scary in my opinion.
It's mostly because the second one is more psychological and subtle

I was sent to boarding school in 7th grade by the person who raised me. I befriended a bunch of now meth heads, rapists, and aspiring rappers. I was just a traumatized kid who lost her mom at a young age. But I had fun though and learned a lot of life lessons. Can’t say I learned anything school wise as I never did my work 💀
