They got him to host after they cancelled his show is wild 😂
Hollywood is pandering.
mexia23 Let's be real. The Carmichael show may have well been a part of Fox's 1990 Summer Lineup. That's how obscure it was in present day.
@@mikedemirdjian9976 i agree it didn't get the promo it desereved
"They" didnt ask him to host. He stated that he was asked to host by a friend that was also asked to produce the golden globes and that right there is important to point out, simply because out of the tons of black comedians that could of been asked this person (his friend) asked him and that within itself is something he should consider before going off the deep end and potentially making his friend look bad for asking him.
He gay now, so they like him
It felt halfway between a funeral and a AA meeting.
Sometimes you have to exorcise those demons. It needed to be done.
And a group therapy session almost. It's not for everybody but I personally enjoyed it.

This is exactly the style of speech you deliver when you get asked to do a wedding speech because the best man is chickening out at the last minute.
Brilliant. You made me laugh. Something this gentleman failed to do all night.
Well he’s just be straight honest. They should’ve BEEN inclusive long ago. I agree with him they just want as many black folks as they can to bring diversity. Which they should’ve been had. I never heard of the Golden Globes but from what I see just like the White House correspondence dinner it’s HELLA FUCKEN WHITE. And that’s a no for me.
Nah, that's how ppl laugh at JC's stuff. The audience laughs or kinda laughs exactly like that in all of his specials. He's actually too funny to be a comedian if that makes any sense

Tbh i think he did the best he could with the situation
His special Rothaniel was the exact same way. Still my favorite stand up special to this day
It was awful. Its an award ceremony for the most privileged in the world. This false narrative of integrity, validity etc is such tone deaf to problems in society.
It was actually a Parody of a Martin Luther King speech.
#metoo , well said
Comments are angry that he didn't joke about the actors and put on a happy face, but imagine being called up to host something you've dreamed of only because you are black. Ricky Gervais was definitely at home laughing at how the HFPA didn't get what they wanted and what many people in these comments want.
I truly don't understand why the comments are like this, I thought he was hilarious
Because if they hired an actual comedian then they would have put on a happy face and be funny, that's the job
I don't think people were uncomfortable about the jokes. I think they were uncomfortable because they were expected to laugh.

He's complaining he got the gig because he's black, but how else was he going to get it? Certainly not because of his comedy chops. His entire act can be summed up as Michael Cera meets Dukie from The Wire. He's terrible. Final thought: I liked it, if you been following Jerrod you know he has a very dry, dark style of humor that highlights and embraces awkwardness at times. Kinda like a walking Black version of The Office.
That brand of humor isn’t exactly what you look for at an event like this, but imo, that made me like it more. It’s a bold refreshing honest take on comedy that bypasses all the fakeness we’ve grown used to, which explains the mixed reactions.
