Effectively replacing the Qashqai +2 as the seven-seat option in Nissan’s range, the X-Trail is known for its practical, family-friendly character.
The latest news on the X-Trail front however is the addition of a 1.6-litre turbo petrol, which joins the existing diesel in the range and has been carried over from the current Qashqai model.
So, does this 1.6-litre petrol suit the X-Trail? We take it for a spin to find out.
Constantly updated, Car Keys provides first-hand video reviews, as well as all of the latest car news.

In Australia, there is the 2.5 litre petrol, 4wd with cvt (transmission).... I’ve had the 2010-11 model, now upping to this 2016 Ti model with same running gear. 😉🤔

It is known as the Nissan Rogue in North America and there will be selling well above 250,000 units this year.

This car looks good but lacks a strong engine........perhaps a 2 liter petrol turbo and a 2 liter dieselpower

I have the old 2.2DCi X-Trail and its grand and fine for towing 2000kg. I tested the new 1.6 and its shit. Shallow torque curve so struggles to tow anything over 1000 and you burn the clutch when pulling away on anything that looks like a little bit of a slope. Saying that it was nice inside and had some nice features. I would upgrade if they had a 2litre model but will move to something like a Mazda CX5 instead.

These types of vehicles are all crying out for a 2 ltr
turbo deisel but they don't seem to be fashionable any more! It's not like these small engines are any better on economy or co2 levels. I like the x trail but wouldn't go near it with a piddly 1.6 engine. Shame! Great review though.

I'm 14, so i can't really drive obviously but my family has an x-trail 2015. Trust me it's not as weak as people think, we tried it and it would go up so quick and it's strong trust me

Depends solely on background upbringing and how many different cars he's driven. Age is but a number
