I love watching you make parts for your projects using the lathe you made from scrap parts. Those bearings need grease and I would set the races deeper so that you can put a seal on the outside. Keep doing what you are doing, it takes a lot of time and effort to build these projects and share them with us.

With opposing tapered roller bearings, you need some kind of locking mechanism for the bolt, nut or collar that sets your end play. Do not just tighten that socket head cap screw down and call it good. Search for "Bearing Collars, Sleeves & Locking Devices."
To set your end play, put a dial indicator on the end of the axle and tighten your fastener down until there is zero movement or slight pre-load, then set your locking device.

That engine can work. It was really cheep. We bought a 2008 CBR 600rr for our FSAE for about 800 dlls. It was just the engine and it had a. Repair in the sproket zone. If your engine doesn't have water mixed with the oil the only thing you'll need to do is to take off the motor head and clean very good all the cilinders before even trying to move it. Spry some rust cleaner and let it work for a couple of hours. Then just polish the motor head and put a new gasket. For the wire harness you can try the long one from haltech (work pretty good and have great quality) don't remove any material from the valves, remove gently the rust and Polish them. Make sure the valve matches the sit in the motor head so you don't have any leaks in the combustion. Wich you the best of success in this project.

Much faster than manually pumping and will work great for operations such as broaching, like you were doing. Harbor Freight sells 12-ton and 20-ton pneumatic jacks. 2) Consider buying yourself a set of V-BLOCKS for various operations such as holding round stock parallel in your vise. I use both of these tools in my shop all the time. GREAT inexpensive upgrades well worth the investments.

Those type of Tapered roller bearings need to be tightened to a specific amount and then backed off a bit, and then the way that they're held can NOT move- hence most trailer axles, car front axles, etc have a Castle nut and cotter pin - your drilling the end of the shaft and placing an allen head screw and a heavy cap over the end will last 5 mins or less - you'll have to weld in a stud, and
thread that and drill for pin - to get and hold proper pre-load on those bearings..........
