    Mike -- did some research, your specific Movikon 8 has the focus distances in feet and inches -- there are also versions marked in meters (they way to know is that the closest focus would be "0.2" (as in meters).

      Indeed the ' and " marks for feet and inches give it away too.

    Nice! My father had that camera for tryouts in the late fifties but then decided to go for a Bauer 88B - the camera I first used when I was nine years old and fell in love with film. Fun to watch..!

    Two flaws:
    The coldshoe mount IS for flash modules, you just need to use the module manually.
    The focus markings on your camera ARE in feet, as is obvious by the '' and ' markings (for feet and inches) as well as the fact it goes up in intervals of 6 and not 5, which would be typical of a meter-based focus marking.

    • @CrusaderRabbit59
      @CrusaderRabbit59 Před 7 měsíci

      from other videos they advertise the focus range starting at 20cm, so 8in for the first mark would be roughly equivalent and would agree with your feet/inches

    Are you guys familiar with the Sekonic line of 1960’s 8mm cameras? The Sekonic Simplomat, and the Sekonic Dualmatic Zoom, that have a film compartment that flips over, so you can shoot the 2nd half of the dbl 8 film without opening and flipping the film on the reels.
    Great idea, and makes the “flip” much easier, and protects the end of the first half of film from light! I love these! 💕🎥🎆

    "E" likely stands for "Eigenblick" or momentary/instant. Kodak needs to put this with interchangeable lenses into production, rather than develop a new Super 8 camera. All mechanical, no electronics. And in metal with a Metropolis aesthetic.

    I wonder if theres a way to convert double 8 spools to have a sort of darkbag sleeve to protect the film from light when you load it and run it through the camera that way you didn't have to worry about exposing the first 3-4 feet of film and only expose 1-2 feet

    • @FilmPhotographyProject

      Purchase a large film changing bag. The challenge is to be familiar enough with your camera so that you can load (and flip rolls) in the dark. Can be done! - Mike
