The unused diesel bypasses the injectors and is returned to the main diesel tank! That's why the yellow container emptied out fast.

That things makin fuel !!!!! I’m so glad you got the thing moving forward it felt like I was working on it !!!!! The shifter switch has to be it . I was wondering if it got parked because it quit running or it quit going forward being out in the weather probably caused switches to corrode . I guess a double pole 3 position switch will need replaced . What happens when your going forward with the jumper wire on and you put the selector in neutral ? What would happen if you were in forward and shifter the shifter to reverse ? If both engaged at the same time while traveling it may tear a bunch of stuff up . Not been much on CZcams lately the Johnny Depp and Amber saga I clicked on that one time now it’s everywhere how glad I was to see your video and then running the 310 in forward !!! So happy how about ya !!!!

Great news to hear! 😎 This turned out to be a "Will it go forward?" Video.....lol. It's possible the problem was on the steering column shift lever all along. Some people think the shift lever moves gears, but it's actually just a switch between F-N-R and I think that column shifter was bad. I'd think about putting a new shifter in it and see what happens. Just my opinion, of course. Congratulations Hank!! 👍 🚜

Very interesting. I have a 410-D that had the exact same issue with trying to go forward. While I take care of most all the issues that develop, I couldn't figure that one out. I had to trailer it to the shop where they did repair it. The diagnosis? They told me they had to dismantle the transmission and that a small spring was broken and that was causing the issue. I don't recall how much they charged, but it wasn't cheap as you can imagine. Now I doubt their honesty after seeing what you found. CZcams comes in handy for a lot of things and your video was enlightening to say the least. Very nice job and I'm glad you shared what you found out. Thank you!

'39 cat d47U (running), 60s international 504 (running) late 50s international utility 350 (running), early 50's Oliver oc3 crawler (running), late 70's Massey Ferguson 50 backhoe (motor locked up, and all attempts have failed so far) 80's Massey Ferguson 1020 with loader (was running until clutch went out last month). All these tractors were non running yard art when we brought them home with the exception of the ocs3 which was bought by my great grandfather new but took loads of time to get running again. If I gave up on a issue that got me stumped to the point I'll just have someone else fix it. I would not have learned how to build / fix computers to the point people comes to me to get their computers fixed.
Also I know how to do electronic repair which comes in handy for dealing with computers that you believe is having hardware issues.

Lol! Way to go Hank! Only took you a year to figure it out! Goes to show you even a blind squirrel finds a nut along the way! Glad to see it finally getting to come around. Now as to a temporary solution for the shifting. Why not get some wiring connectors an some wire and use a three way toggle switch to go forward and backwards. Mount it on the console or the steering column for easability and run it till you get it rewired permanently. So it's workready. Then since you put in that shootout on paw in law hit him up to just keep the 310 there for farm use. Perfect suck up on the inlaws! Lol! Then later give it a good washing and scruff it up a bit and give it a shot of new paint be perfect then to put Hamiltonville Farms on its sides and do offsite jobs to make a little cash to buy more farm equipment for the place. As always enjoy your videos! Just surprised that Wiley wasn't around to see the triumphant victory for getting her moving!! 😳 Take care and looking forward to the next chapter in Hv Farms!

If your talking about using a pintle hitch trailer to pull that with your truck, it’s probably a bad idea. Your truck has two ratings, gooseneck/fifth wheel and conventional towing. A pintle hitch is under conventional, and my 3/4 ton Duramax was only rated for like 8,000lbs on the receiver. If y’all are still needing it moved let me know. Hank just a thought, could you switch the solenoid that you bought with the forward one that doesn’t work and see if it will go forward when you have it in reverse? If they are the same, this would definitely show you what you need!

A 3 way toggle switch would work good Scott one hot wire to Ito it 1 hot wire for forward 1 hot wire for backwards flip the switch up goes 1 way flip the switch down and goes the other But the switch in the middle does nothing

the fuel could be returning to the main tank which is why it drank it out of the can so quick. and for the transmission a two position switch would work for the direction change.

Congrats on your discovery! To make it simpler, couldn’t you use the shifter lever on the steering wheel column or is it not getting power? Once again, congratulations Hank!

Did you cut the wires? Or were they pulled by a stick or something else while it was in use? I would try repairing the wires before anything else and test. See if you can find a schematic for the shift circuit and go from there first. If it has to have power on two wires you should be able to turn on the switch and shift to forward and see which wire is hot then reverse the same way to make connections. Wires should be marked with numbers about every 8-12” starting at the plug. If you can identify the wire numbers easily makes repair easier.

People get overwhelmed by electric circuits, as a master electrician I can tell you that everything electrical is just a single pole switch. A computer is simply a pile of single pole switches. And circuitry is as simple as playing connect the dots.
