In this video we break down the different half inch impacts from Milwaukee and explain to you which model gives you the best performance for your dollar. With so many different models and previous generations available it is easy to pay full price for a tool that has sub-par performance numbers or a previous model that you should not have to pay full price for. Be sure to watch our video and purchase the correct M18 Fuel Brushless 1/2" impact (model number: 2767-20).
Milwaukee makes a variety of 1/2" impacts that don't make a whole lot of sense to us personally. A 1/2" impact is all about having lots of torque to break away heavy bolts on things like heavy equipment. The more power the better off you are. We don't see too much value in these small 1/2 inch impacts with low torque ratings. - Věda a technologie
UPDATED COMPARISON CHART FOR 2021: czcams.com/video/VK0rCd-H9bU/video.html
Please do this for dewalt and makita as well!
I’ve been on Milwaukee’s sight a lot and I get confused every time and end up not buying anything out of fear of not getting what I wanted. This is exactly the video I needed thank you!
Just do your research before buying anything more than you're uncomfortable spending #itsfree
THANK YOU!!! That was the video I was looking for. Awesome video man. Thanks again!
I just bought the 2861-20 mid torque at the Home Depot for $165 and it’s a beast! All I need for automotive and lawn care work.
But for how long ?
@@DynoDieselWagon used it all year on removing mower blades for my lawn care business weekly, I rotate my own tires, etc. I sold it to my neighbor who does lawn care as well, just got the latest. No problems at all.
@@Lakecenterlawncare I have the mid torque myself and work on vehicles for a living. What I noticed is that if the battery is not 100% it will struggle with removing stubborn fasteners. Suspension bolts are hit or miss. If you can get it on the fastener with the shortest socket possible, it will crack it loose after some effort. Brake caliper bracket bolts are a no if you have to use an extension or universal socket/adaptor. Or if the manufacturer uses loctite. What I also noticed was whenever I got a vehicle in where a hulk overtightened the lug nuts (happens 4-10 cars) I have to end up reaching for my big boy impact anyway.
So basically, I bought it and barely use it because I end up using my HT 1/2 for most scenarios.
Thank you. I wouldn't have noticed this, when buying one for my dad. He wants the big boy and almost bought the 450 lb one. One $50 dollar difference, almost didn't catch it
have you ever used these tools?.... the mid torque 2860-20 is half the price of the 2767 and will do 99% of any job you will ever need to do on a vehicle... its the best all around gun.
I absolutely agree with you! I work on vehicles and smaller equipment and just started looking at the M18 Impacts. After a few hours of searching through all the info, I came to the conclusion that the 2767 was the best choice. While looking for the best price, I found a kit. I'm going with the 2767-22GG! It has the 2767 impact, grease gun, 2 batteries, charger and carrying case. This is my 1st Milwaukee purchase and need the batteries anyways. The grease gun just happens to be a bonus! Thank you for explaining the madness
These are the exact questions I needed answered.!! Thanks Man..!!! This video helped me decide/confirm the one I wanted/needed. Keep up the great work..!!! (thumbsup)
Dam just my luck I bought the 2763 in 2017 4 months before they launched the 2767 model. Still love this thing tho!
Awesome! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for clarifying in a well presented video.
You got a new subscriber! Thank you for this. I figured the deal homedepot had was too good to be true.
I appreciate you!
Geeze man, you saved my life! Milwaukee has a horribly long list of impact wrench. I takes people a whole day to realize the difference.
This is the exact video i was looking for. 👍
Excellent breakdown. Great help for my upcoming purchase. Thank you!
Thanks. This video makes choosing the right tools easy and it answer all the questions I had.
The mid torque will do 98 percent of what your average person on an y car will do,I have the compact, the stubby, the mid,and high,I reach for the midtorque almost always
What are you trying to say
@@MrJaywood911 buy the Midtorque
I get 3/8 drive for mid torque.
For the price why would you not get the best one they sell?
@@scottbulach it depends a lot on the type of work you are doing. A heavy equipment mechanic may have more of a need for the high-torque model. If you work in a tire shop and are handling the tool all day for lighter applications, the mid-torque is more appropriate. For the average home mechanic who is not rebuilding engines and removing crank bolts, etc. and is mostly rotating tires or changing brake pads, the mid-torque is more than sufficient.
Got the 2763 when it vame out years ago and it has NEVER failed me!
Right on. I got the 2767 first and then got the 1/2" stubby. The stubby does 95% of what I need in a lightweight package but when I need the power, it's nice to have the big boy. I've heard of the mid torque failing to remove fasteners too often. The IR 7152 does seem to have the 2767 beat from the reviews I've seen though.
I have the first impact on the list. Works great for everything I do. Non heavy equipment no semi trucks. I do maintain a f350, does great.
Thanks for the breakdown on the lineup, i was going to say you must not work in a automotive industry but in the end you referred to heavy equipment which now i understand why you recommended the biggest impact.
I think the mid torque is perfect for 99% of DIY people. The high torque is far too powerful, bulky, and heavy for most people unless they work with heavy machinery like agriculture, airplanes, etc...
As a DIY’er on my small fleet of used vehicles here in Michigan, I finally sprung for an impact. I thought I did my research and felt the M12 stubby would be all I needed. Imagine my disappointment the first time I used it to break a lug nut. I had to use the ‘ole breaker bar with my new impact laying next to me on the driveway. Now… that was a wheel I never took off before. When I use it on a wheel that I put on, meaning it is torqued properly with anti seize on the threads, it does work. It just takes a few seconds to get moving. I still don.t like it. I want them lugs to zip off like I’m working a NASCAR pit stop. I also found that axle nuts to the wheel bearings are also a chore to remove with this gun AND the nuts on the struts to the steering knuckle. I will keep that stubby, but I want the 2767 because I can’t imagine thinking, “Darn, this works too good.” I do not tighten anything with impacts, so over torquing will never be an issue for me.
Have you ever worked on a vehicle? You hardly ever need the power of a full size high torque impact. And you’re dealing with constrained spaces, that don’t require a lot of breakaway torque. This is where those compact and mid torque comes in. A well equipped person has more than one impact. Personally I have 3 different sized ones. And I use the smallest one the most often.
A lot of our work is heavy equipment and semi trucks, so the 2767-20 works great for us. We have used it for smaller vehicles as well for suspension parts etc. We run it on setting 2 when tightening bolts and are careful to not over tighten. We agree the mid torque is more ideal for auto techs who work on cars/SUVs. If we had to choose only one we would go the 2767-20 as it really covers all your bases. Having both the mid torque and high torque would be ideal, but most guys just buy one.
Fabrication Guy
You’re right there on point though, first Milwaukee impact I ever bought is the M18 1/2” 2767-20 the power it has is “Scary” for someone who got his first experience with high torque battery operated impact wrenches, tool is stunning in every aspects all ways around! They say: every tool has its own pros & cons, well, I tried this 2767-20 and I couldn’t figure something bad in it, the design, the built, size & torque wise, everything is really good in it.
they say it’s huge and bulky! Well, for a high torque impact (the highest torque actually for 1/2” impacts out there) its the most compact sized tool, moreover I’ve got the M18 1/2” Mid-Torque 2861-20 impact with 1.5ah battery (used & in very good condition) for only $60, few days ago, I’ve checked a listing on FB for the same 2861-22CT it’s a kit, tool, 2 batteries 1.5ah & 4ah batteries, charger and case like new condition for just $180! With this price, I couldn’t help to ignore it just cuz I had the same one lol, I really like the 2861-20 as well, and I does has the right amount of torque needed for right application, I use’m on my sedan, SUV, & minivan, the mid torque works there just pretty well, also has 3- torque/speed settings which offers the impact tool a good range of applications to get the work done, from heavy duty to simple tasks! It comes handy and indeed very reliable impact.
@@diamond_spotlight I have a brand new 2767-20 I'll sell or trade for a mid-torque!
@@diamond_spotlight Way I see it I want the high torque for those situations that you know we deal with being in the the Midwest salt belt. But yes I have a smaller impact driver actually that I use for the tight spaces and being much lighter.
Get an IR 35max impact. Look it up
It all depends on what you're working on. I work on busses. High torque is a must have.
Thank you so much for clarifying I was really confused until I saw your video. Peace from Sydney Australia
Thank you so much im getting one for a Dodge front end rebuild , this is the information I needed .....
Thanks for the clarification. I’m trying to buy my boyfriend this for Christmas and I almost bought the wrong one. You’re video was very helpful.
Thank you so much for this. I was selling a few 2767 and the guy wanted such a low price for it he was comparing it to the 1st gen
Thank you so much , I was very hesitant until I saw your video , you helped me a lot with this information good bless
Ahh!! Mine are away for repair I miss them so much. I like them soo much I bought 2, one for me and one for my helper.
Thanks man, just what I needed to know.
Great great great video.......glad you guys have our six. Big thx
Exactly what i needed to know🙏🏼
Awesome informative!! Period! Thanks guy!
Great Video! Can you recommend the best 1/2 in milwaukee "corded" impact wrench?
Thank you getting the right one now !
Great video. Have to remove the axel nut that is stuck and looked online and was super confused... after looking and adding/removing all of milwake impact, finally ordered from home depot the 2767 20. Wondered if i made the right choice due to all the ones i seen... then i came accross this video, thanks, no confused and happy i made the licky choice
I own the same impact wrench and use it to take well rusted nuts and bolts off of farm equipment. Love it. Where can I get one of those Milwaukee charts like you showing, it has a lot of good info on it. Thank you
Milwaukee makes some damn fine impact wrenches. I have watched reviews until I am blue in the face and Milwaukee is always at the top if not #2 in real world comparisons. I'm more than happy for my weekend warrior of a mid-torque driver for sure. Nice video btw!!
Yes just bought the 2767 already had 502x plus 2 batteries and also the 3/8 drive wrench too for compact cordless
The mid 2860-20 is no miss lead.. awesome impact i rarely find something it cant get off quick. For every day cars and trucks its very well capable and not to big
I also have Milwaukee 3/8 mid torque & it's great a lot of times I put 3/8 to 1/2 adapter when I need to but I use it constantly
That 3/8" drive is a beast!!
Thanks this was very informative, do you have a video on which M12/M18 stubby to get?? Because the 2767-20 would be a bit overkill for general auto mechanical work. lol
Got the 2663 5 years ago for 100 dollars new bare tool and still using it now. Good enough for tire rotation and some around the house work. Just added Milwaukee m12 stubby for 90 dollars bare tool. I am happy with the choice I made.
There is nothing wrong with the 2663 lol this guy sounds insane I use the 2663 to work on cars works just fine
@@gsc2866 Absolutely correct. I have the same tool as you. Different model number here in Australia but identical tool. I bought mine 10 years ago when the FUEL Brushless models were just being released. It was the latest model then. This clown would have you believe that they’re all current models.
When I bought mine, Milwaukee’s 450 ftlb was the most powerful impact wrench on the market.
Another thing. We can’t purchase the older versions as they haven’t been available for many years. I got mine close to the end of their run.
@@gsc2866 yeah this guy sounds like a high horse riding snob. He acts like getting a lower end, but highly capable for most people tool is getting "scammed." 400ftlb is plenty of torque for most people that aren't using this this commercially.
Fantastic video, extremely informative, thank you so much! The 13 dislikes are from people trying to scam others into buying the lower end models
I got a 2763-20 for work with a broken anvil fixed it for $48 and runs great
Honestly I would buy the 2863, which is the same as the 2767, but has One-key as well. One-key looks like a gimick but it actually gives you a ton of control over the tool, and with some playing around you can really dial it in for different applications. Then pick up one of the stubby impacts for tight spaces. The 1/2 has, depending on what 220 means, more breakaway torque then the 2755 @ 250ft-lbs in the 1/2 drive. These 2 will do everything you need to on a vehicle.
You also want the one with the A in the serial number. The B (newer 2767-20) has a recall.
Great video! Thanks 😊
Thanks for letting know , thought the were all the same once u step up to brushless .. 2767-20 is the model to get .! Thankyou again
Thank you for all the information. I brought a Bauer I believe is the name and charged it up and took it right back. On the box it said it had 450 pounds of nut busting torque but yet it wouldn’t even take my Lugnuts off my Nissan Rogue I torqued to 90 foot pounds. LOL. I going to buy a Milwaukee
thank you again
Any Milwaukee tool sold on Amazon does not come with a warranty. Just an FYI.
BS
@@slawomirlech950 OK
This is just what I was looking for you are right they make it so confusing to find the right one
Great video, thanks for the tips
I bought the 2763-20 back in 2018, I wanted the 2767-20 that is currently heavily discounted for $299.
THANK YOU. You saved me.
You are the best. Thanks for taking the time to upload this video.
Dope,, Thanks my friend! I didn't realize they had that many models of impacts, let alone the 1/2" selection. Kinda funny cuz I just got my first Milwaukee tool (gen3 1/4" imp/driver). I own dewalt everything BUT I always wanted Milwaukees impacts! It was worth the extra money for a new battery platform just for the one impact lol
I have Milwaukee everything....all 3 gen impact drivers and drills....but they just sit in the toolbox looking pretty.....too heavy and uncomfortable for all day use....i always reach for the makita or Hitachi drivers....
I use the stubby 1/2 almost everyday in a class 8 diesel shop and my high torque I've use like 1 time 🤷 granted the shop has a dedicated impact for lug nuts
I have the 2663-20. Its perfect for what I need. If I ever find my self needing more power, I will have no problem upgrading to the 2767-20
I just got a 2 pack including 2x2676-20 with 2x6.0 batteries for $500 before taxes from the Home Depot. I split it with a buddy so for $250, I think we each got a smoking good deal.
Awesome video. Thank you so much for this product educational video.
I have the 2767. Do road side assist. Have only had two lug nuts that it wouldn’t take off. What I’m interested in the the torque specs of #1, #2,and #3 button settings. Had a customer complaint saying I over torqued it and the next shop snapped a lug and couldn’t remove two. I was super careful and double checked with a bar that they where snug. Had it on #3 and stop when it makes noise.
wow, thank GOD I found you. lust what I needed to know.
Could you make a video comparing all the m18 1/4 impacts?
Thanks for the tips! Saved another viewer from Milwaukee lower end products
The 2767 is amazing. But beware, thats a lot of power. When I first used it I snapped a wheel stud so fast I figured out quick to use the lower settings first.
😂😂😂
Thanks for the info.
Guys i just bought my 2767-20 on northern tools for 250 plus free battery! Awesome deal and i hope it works wonders like everyone is saying.
That thing is a beast extremely powerful and I can say from personal experience it is more powerful than dewalt dcf899 high torque impact. Also to take note using Milwaukee bigger HD and HO 6-8-9-12 ah batteries gives it even more umph.
They all have there place. It’s like saying you need one club to play golf. Just get the one that hits the ball the furthest. Non brushless = old tech.
Brushless = new with different models for different jobs and different budgets.
Thanks for this
I have 2755b-20 (the compact one) and for working on cars it's all you really need, I've removed my crank pulley bolt with it no problem(keep in mind I have a subaru so I dont know about other crank bolts), however I dont doubt if you're looking for something for a different application it wouldnt work as well
2767-20 has an issue with torque inside the impact busting (meaning not working out of the box or on first use).
could you please do a similar comparison of Milwaukee 1/2" driver/drill?
I think it was the 2993 on ebay that has both 2767 and mid torque. Nice to have both. Gona get the surge driver to hang osb over metal studs👍
Just bought the 2663-20 then saw your video. Should I return it im having second thoughts. I’m not a major car person just occasional diy fixes when they come up. But I saw reviews of it struggling even with lug nuts removal. Thoughts?
Great information!
Some stores for the 1400ft lb Millie the number is 2767-(22) at least for Canadian home depot
Good info here, the line-up is confusing buyer beware. The 2755 has 220 ft-lbs of fastening torque but is still only for lighter jobs. I have the Gen 2 High Torque you recommend (2767) with friction ring anvil it is nice, just started using it. I noticed at least on mine that when you move if from upright to 90° working position there seems to be slight motor movement about 1/8" if I were to guess, none of my other Milwaukee impact wrenches have that internal movement.
Mine too does that, the internals move/shake around on it.
My 2663-20 bust loose bolts that would normally require a 4' breaker bar. BUT it's powered by the M18 HD9.0 battery. My only complaint is the run on after the trigger is released.
I have the Gen 3 M18 fuel 1/2 inch high torque. That thing is potent be careful or you will overtighten your tire lugs. As for compact impact wrenches, consider an M12 3/8 stubby which I have is great for tight spaces and it is amazing.
the 3/4 " is way better along with the new 1/2" drive right angle impact wrench,,,not ratchet ,,, I have both and these two take care of 99% of my needs from lawnmower to heavy equipment
I just bought the (model 2863-20) 1/2" High Torque Impact brushless M18 Fuel one key, friction ring, it has fastening torque of 1,000 ft-lbs and 1,400 ft-lbs nut-busting torque. This is TOOL ONLY, no batteries or charger. The one key lets you create custom programs for the selector keys. Purchased from Home Depot.
M12 Stubby and Mid torque M18 Fuel brushless. I rarely use the mid torque.
This is AWESOME! Do you still recommend this model now that it is Black Friday? Will they be releasing a new model next year?
The 2860-20 is the smallest in size for the 650 breaking. And if your working on cars and small trucks its really all you need. One of them and the right angle impact that does 220 break away. Would be all you need for automotive.
Good video, I was checking out some of the same brand it showed one that would do up to two 2000 ft lb,s not sure if that was opening or fasten doe and just wondering y u didn't show this one it is possible that it might hsve been a 1inch key too thanks for the video
I currently see the 2863-20 being promoted. How does it compare to the 2767-20?
Initial specs, they look the same , is it the same tool? Is it simply the successor to the 2767-20?
Hi. The choice is even more difficult if you life in EU.
I leave in UK and can't find model 2767-20 (is available only in amazon) but after researching i discover europian version 2767-20 is ONEFHIWF12-502X .
1356NM max fastening torque
and
1898NM nut busting torque
after conversion NM to FT-LBS we have 2767-20 specification. Bu why they do this?
I used to get the pneumatic drill to get the nuts the cordless couldn't get, now I use the cordless to do what the pneumatic cant...in fact, I only use cordless now.
Good thing I watch this video before buying mine.
I can appreciate the sentiment here. The 2663/2662 are Heavy and outdated models that either need discontinued or drastically lowered in price to continue to exist. The 2763 is still a good impact if the price reflects the older technology, I can appreciate you pointing out this model aswell. BUT.......Your complete dismissal of the 2755b & the 2860 is a bit over the top. Every one of these Models has a place and purpose. Personally I skipped the compact in favor of a 3/8 & 1/2 version of the m12 stubby because I am also in that battery platform, but the m18 compact is in my fathers tool box because he is m18 only and it’s necessary to have a small impact. I also have both the 2763 & 2767 high torques because I once had the same mindset as you..........before I actually tried a mid torque. I decided to try the mid torque because I was tired of ruining fasteners with the overkill power of the high torques. The mid torque is now my “go-to”. It does 99% of what a average person needs one to do and is literally half the size/bulk of any of the high torque models. I wouldn’t give up my high torque, as I do still need it from time to time, but now I wish I would have discovered the mid first and then I would have bought a 3/4 and skipped the 1/2 high torque. I understand, I used to have the same line of thinking you do, and both the 2763&2767 are great, but you gotta tell all the facts or you’re just misleading your viewers.
Torque extensions fix your problem for $50.
I actually enjoy the mid torque. Is perfect for my needs
i have a 2864-20 3/4 M18 and.... i broke my CV axle with it ( im going to assume there was a hair line fracture or a severe stress crack in the CV ) and yes i was trying to loosen the nut not tighten it lol was looking for a mid version and the 2767-20 i barrowed from a friend looks the some in every damn way except the anvil! i broke down BOTH impacts and they are exactly the same across the board except the anvil size 2767 is a 1/2 inch and the 2864 is a 3/4 thats the only diff we could find... so with this said the 2767 is the #1 choice when it comes to power fo socket size!
I bought the 2767-21b. Not sure why its a -21b instead of -20. Maybe its the most current model? Anyone know? I figured it out, 21b is for the kit that comes with a 5 ah battery and charger with case. Same inpact as the 2767-20.
Thank you for criticizing the overly complicated and overly broad selection. Way too much overlap!
I don’t see any m18 brushless non fuel models like you mentioned can you show me the models you were referring to
I agree with this but on sale i got the 2663 and a 2457 ratchet with charger and battery's for 200 at home depot hard to beat, so should take care of most of my tasks.
I got the same exact kit lol cant tell me that shit ain't a deal I'm not a mechanic but I work on cars as hobby and never had a problem
There is a few battery choices for these to witch one should I get with the big gun
Would buying 2663-22RH| be a good purchase for starting out in the auto trade? The ratchet I want because it's small in size due to it not being brushless. For the impact would brush be OK? Or
