Galactica phalanx fighting
I reckon it would be cool to be a phalanx training facility - sort of like preparing you to take on Nemesis
But I’d be happy with anything they do to it. I love Air (it’s not really galactica without the headsets) but it really looked run down last year, so I’m sure looked even worse this year. Deserves a bit of TLC from Merlin 🙂

Make Galactica a Phalanx aerial investigation reconnaissance (A.I.R) mission. The lift is where you're inspecting nemesis and anything after is you taking the spacecraft for a joyride on the return to homebase

No need to repaint the ride or anything. Just a jetwash and a few new decals in the station and the queue. Bring back the A.I.R name but as a new acronym as opposed to (aerial inversion ride) and have the crew wearing phalanx gear as they can be technicians in the launch bay@@LiftHillsandThrills

Even if it’s not a repaint, a retheme to a Good, (BLUE) Phalanx alien fighting against the Nemesis would be very nice!

I can’t see that Galactica will have a huge retheme for next season. Simply because Alton Towers have spent so much money this season on revamping most of Forbidden Valley and the transformation from Duel to The Curse At an Alton Manor. As a result, I think they can’t focus on putting TLC (as in appearance of the rides) on other rides especially Galactica in 2024. Presumably, they will only just update the computer system of Galactica, check if the crafts are still ‘ride-worthy’ if that makes sense and the replacement of the wheels. They will probably focus on presentation and TLC after they finished the refurbishment.
Yeah as stated in the video it's more likely to be a 2025 thing or late 2024. They're going to be spending a LOT more $$ in 2024 on appearance around FV but focus on Galactica is currently unknown.
They have so badly neglected the park. It’s probably have done damage to the park image and that has probably affected how much money is come in. I would imagine that re-tracking and re-theming a ride is the cheaper than building new rides
I think it will get a new name and some very minor theming changes for next season. And then hopefully 2025 will bring a completely retheme and track paint to match the new black of nemesis. Can’t see them changing the name of the area though for this season. They’ve got so much going on they won’t have an endless budget things need to be staggered.
They’re scaling back on a lot of events next year but they’re spending a LOT too much

“Phalanx” is gonna be in the new name for the area & a new portal. I really think Galactica is gonna get a retheme and new paint, probably next year. I’d theme it to some type of flying prototype vehicle to examine the nemesis beast. @sonderax had the right idea
I don’t think they’ll be renaming forbidden Valley to Phalanx… I hope not anyways it needs to have more of a military name

Ive said it before but id call it project Galactica you could have it as a phalanx military base whereas sub terror is reseach. Stick a few signs up on the building a few military props in the queue line and a clean or paint of the track.
The wind damage as.you said could cause them to bring work forward as it wudnt make much sense to spend money to redo the same sign.
Does the rollercoaster restaurant ever shut for the winter after xmas if so i can imagine the work on galactica will be done then. It wont take long to clean the track

I could see it more being isolated away from FV rather than integrated to it. Kinda like how Wickerman doesn't really have an area. The style of the ride doesn't fit a dark theme imo.
It would stand out like a sore thumb if it was like that… won’t build a new area around that corner, it seems far too close to Nemmy to be like that although I do agree it won’t fit a dark theme but space exploration for Nemmy’s origins or a research mission or similar kinda fits in
True. You may disagree but I think taking the Nemesis story that literally would feel a bit cringe. There's a difference between there's an ancient alien underground versus we're on space missions to track down it's homeworld. You'd also need a massive amount of terrain retheming to look like an alien planet. The ride is pretty old now so I doubt it's worthy of that much investment. Better to just smarten it up a bit. Revert the space nonsense and have it more as the oasis of calm near FV.

I don’t think they should change forbidden valley, as it still works, like dare to go to the forbidden valley, est est they could make it work, Refreshing the area and keeping some of the history of the area I think is best but we shall see
Not sure how it works with the new military theme they seem to be going with, still a great name though I think it would be hard to keep it as is
I think the issue with galactic / air is that it never had its intended theme in the first place so has always been weak, especially sited next to arguably the ride with the strongest narrative / theme in the park.

I would change gal to phalanx themed and have a pre show where the queues split off to the separate stations and it could be something like your in a phalanx jet fighting nemmy on ride and the pre show could consist of a big battle between nemmy and the soldiers but they are losing so they call in the fire power from above which is us. Then when you get off the ride up the stairs where the photo's are a rolling exit show of some sort like the pre show in the Manor

tbh I'd rather not see Galactica rethemed to something Phalanx-y. With both coasters being directly next to each other, both having the boxy B&M track and both also being sort of inverted coasters, if they were given similar themes and colour schemes they very much run the risk of their identities blending into one. They're really different ride experiences, and I think their themes should reflect that.
What would you suggest instead as currently it's gonna stand out like an unwashed sore thumb... maybe a cleaner thumb if it is indeed jet washed before the 2024 season
@@LiftHillsandThrills Don't get me wrong - it definitely needs the work doing to it, presentation this year definitely wasn't up to scratch! A jet wash is needed at an absolute minimum. The dream would be returning to Air, as Nemesis and Air existed together for over a decade, but I can see them repairing the Galactica themeing over the closed season and having the Galactica/Roller Coaster Restaurant as its own mini-section, kind of like Wicker Man is technically in Mutiny Bay.

If they dont redo Galactica, maybe it could become a new area and add a tunnel on the first drop and paint it so on the final Nemesis turn it fits in

The state of the signs insides are just horrendous. Compare the quality they used to build that sign, and airs original sign was there for 15 years and barely aged compared to this. Yeesh.
To be honest, I'm kind of happy that it most likely won't be rethemed anytime soon. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Galacticas theme, but I'd much rather if they split it away from Nemesis and the Phalanx and have its own unique theme, that or air with the original theming.
Do we really need another secret organisation/military theme after Oblivion and the Smiler? Heck, do we need the parks only Secret Weapon that has a light theme to join the rest with the dark and gloomy ones? I like dark themes, but I also like more liberating ones, ones that the park desperately need. Time will tell I suppose.
