Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!! Well done to everyone, this is so uplifting!
Bravo. Another bullseye hit of the Buskaidians! Again, of course they aren't Jordi Savall's Concert des Nations, nor Christophe Rousset and his Talens Lyriques, but the Castor et Pollux Suite is a darned difficult piece to play, as all Rameau is to tell the truth, and these youngsters do very well here. As I said elsewhere, I love their seriousness and devotedness to their playing. Timing and rhythms are fine. Just lovable!
BTW one should know, that Rameau is one of the greatest composers of all time, not standing far behind Handel f.e., and who's influence reaches well into the 20th c.! And we can be happy to have all of his works being recorded extraordinarily by now, being able to compare with his contemporaries Handel or Vivaldi.

Wow this is brilliantly played. Very rare to see Rameau's work being performed in South Africa. I would really love to see the full Castor et Pollux opera live in Johannesburg. If only buskaid could team up with some talented vocalists, add some woodwinds, harpsichord and percussion; then we'll have a great show.
I love this whole performance, it's fantastic. You're perfect on the beat. The only thing's miss is me and my classical guitar.

This is the spirit of Rameau! Respect and Congratulations! Africa is giving back to Europe a widely lost virtue: exactness in TIME! Without it (and without discipline in tempi towards both extremes) there is no Music of the Enlightenment!

I always use this as an example of what can be done with baroque style on modern instruments, because it's the best example I can find. There are so many modern orchestra recordings of this that sound just awful, and I mean important, professional orchestras.
