Video on Sulforaphane: • Sulforaphane - Nature'...
The Moringa plant, officially known as Moringa Oleifera Lam, is also known as the drumstick or horseradish tree. It is native to the dry tropical forests of northwest India and the foothills of the Himalayas. Moringa is derived from a Tamil word, Murungai, which means “twisted pod.” Traditionally, the Moringa plant has been considered medicinal in Ayurvedic Medicine. History tells us that ancient rulers included moringa leaves in their diet routine to “keep up mental health and smooth skin.” Today, Moringa is found to grow in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide - it thrives in China, south Asia, India, Arabia, Africa, The Pacific Islands, the Caribbean, and the Philippines. here in Hawaii, it is everywhere - it grows like a weed! all parts of the Moringa tree are edible and have long been consumed by humans. The flowers, unripened fruits and leaves are used for cooking worldwide. Almost all parts of the Moringa plant are considered valuable - and not just for food. Here Are just some of the ways you can use the moringa tree: food ingredients, nutraceuticals, medicine, water sanitization, animal forage, cleaning agents, fertilizer, charcoal, Machine lubrication oil, gum, pulp, rope, tannin, and biofuel production.
Some experts consider Moringa the “famine food,” - it has been used to combat malnutrition. The tree is fast growing - it can grow up to 2 whole meters in the first year and is up to 12 meters tall once mature. The tree will grow well in sub fertile soil, and the leaves become mature at the end of the dry season, when many other sources of food are not available. In addition, the leaves can be eaten fresh, cooked, or stored as a dried powder for many months without refrigeration. Talk about a useful and convenient food source! Different parts of the Moringa tree are used in more than eighty countries to supplement mineral and vitamin deficiencies, especially in breast-feeding mothers and young children.
People are even calling moringa the new kale! One researcher even claims that moringa is “the most nutrient rich plant yet discovered ” . Why is that? Well, compared to Kale, moringa has two times the protein, three times the calcium, four times the iron and two and a half times the fiber! Talk about a superfood!
It is rare for a single plant to contain that many essential nutrients, and even more rare for these nutrients to be available in high quantities. Moringa checks the boxes on this.
So how exactly does moringin work? It works a lot like sulforaphane. Moringin targets three important pathways in our bodies. It has been shown to activate a pathway called Nrf-2 which, in lay terms, could be considered the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant pathway. It shuts down another pathway called nf kappa b - which, In lay terms, could be considered a pro inflammatory pathway. Lastly, moringin activates heat shock proteins - which we are still learning a whole lot about - but we do know they are beneficial for overall health and longevity.
The five most studied health benefits of moringa are:
    Number one. Antibacterial activity
number two. Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects.
    Number three. Cancer chemo prevention
number four. Anti-diabetic activity and stabilization of blood sugar levels
    number five. Anti-asthmatic activity

So that is supposed to be one of the reasons as to why it's being promoted to be grown in Africa for indigenous people over their. I’m in West Central Arizona, Lake Havasu CITY, AZ. Just planted a 12” Moringa Tree got on line. We thought it died in the mail? Nope! Put in a 24” diameter pot on back patio, full sun. After 5 days and all the original leaves falling off it’s starting to grow and get leaves again! I’ll have to move it around if it gets too hot or the one or two days a year it gets down into the 30’s. I grow Citrus trees also and never had a cold problem for 23 years!

I have a question pertaining to using Moringa as a tea. I am used to hot coffee but had to stop coffee because of blood pressure etc. I currently use hot water for Moringa tea with a teaspoon of honey. Am I destroying the affects of Moringa or the Honey by using hot water instead of warm water?

Love your edu videos, so great you don't shrink from the science and at same time let non-sciencers skip ahead…am I right in concluding from this video that, since you can backload myrosinase into cooked Moringa to activate the isothiocyanates by eating the moringa w daikon/mustard, that the same holds for eating broc sprouts w daikon/mustard? Would that skyrocket the sprouts' bioavail of its sulforaphane? Thank you

I appreciate that! Yes, your logic is sound: adding daikon/mustard to broccoli sprouts really does increase the bioavailability of sulforaphane!

Kinda like how black pepper activates turmeric. I used to think black pepper was a liver toxin.
They also put it in co e Q 10 formulas.
