- Okroshka is an old Russian recipe of cold summer soup that is very light and is very good for you. Ingredients include but are not limited to: cucumber, radishes, green onion, dill, boiled eggs, 2.5 cups lowfat kefir, 2.5 cups sparkling mineral water and 1-2 tsp salt. You can also include either or all: shredded cooked chicken, ham, bologna, boiled potatoes, mustard, vinegar. Grate or chop everything, mix and chill. Thank you for watching ♥

I think many of us would love it if you showed us more Russian recipes that you enjoy.
XxBREWxX, thank you! I will! 😁
Sassy Masha Vlogs I Absolutely agree! This is so different from anything I've ever eaten, so I'm excited to learn about it!
How about a Russian honey cake 😍
Or that soup with beets
And this look delicious 😋
Ohhh I used to eat this at my godfather's! He is russian, but unfortunately is living his last days because of Alzheimer. I will try your recipe in his honor. It's such a good soup. I love it.
I bet he would love a bowl.
I am not sure... he refuses to eat now... He is a strong man, he lived such an incredible life. He is 96. He went through world war II, and went through so much, you have no idea! My father once interviewed him for a radio program here in Canada. I couldn't believe what he went through. But sadly, now, he remembers nothing and is in a wheelchair...
Liking out of respect for him and for your obvious love of him. Alzheimer's is tough :(
Alzheimer's is a rough road. God bless you...
My wife is from Russia, and she prepares traditional Russian dishes every day. Me and my family must have been Russians in a previous life as we all LOVE her cooking. I have never eaten more healthy food in my life, and so tasty!
*gets ASMR from Maria’s vlogs*
YOUR BIO. IM A VIRGO AND IN CHICAGO

@@Emily-ud2dm did you guys get together tho? im curious now
I believe that this soup was created out of necessity. Think about when and where too. The area was poor and needed to make something substantial to fill their bellies So they used what they had. ( or didn’t have like heat). Necessity is the mother of invention!!
Elle Groover, absolutely agree with you. I have noticed many traditional dishes are just a bunch of seasonal ingredients from local areas mixed together. 😊 Our grandma's are the real pioneers and chefs!
yes exactly right. every culture has this dilema and they use what is readily available. it’s something we all have in common.
Like ratatoullie and basically the majority of soups. My mother calls turnip soup "peasant" soup because it's just common found veg at the time like turnips, potatoes and salt.
this is excellent for the summer. It reduces the heat of the body and all the ingredients are refreshing and light and that's what is needed in hot summers, not heavy, oily etc. In other words, it reduces Pitta, the fire element. So try it in the hot summer days and enjoy it.
Elle Groover I thought the same thing when she made the beef patties with the filler
More Russian Recipes!! 😍
Haven't heard much from you on this channel lately. I know it's silly but I worry about you like a mama. Is she Ok? Is the new house still working out? All that stuff. You do so much for others, just know we are here for you too. Much love.
Eluna A. Shes probably talking care and not pushing herself to upload lots of content. Some times in life you have lots of time and energy and inspiration - and other times you want to rest.
I worry about her too! I don’t think that’s weird at all. 😊
steeoked I get that, I guess it's just that I've seen in her past videos how she can get so emotionally down and lonely and she's so sensitive. I just wonder and hope she's ok during long stretches of silence. I know she posts ASMR vids more frequently but those are her work, and say nothing about how her heart is. Sometimes I even feel like when I watch her ASMR vids I can tell how she is because I see joy or sadness in her eyes. For example, in her metal elements video she seems sad, but in her We Shell Relax video she seems genuinely happy. Wow I am really over thinking this....dear brain, please shut up.
Eluna A. Thats sweet! I bet she really appriciates such caring fans ❤ i guess what im trying to say is that, just bc she doesnt upload alot of content here, doesnt mean she is sad or having a hard time. She might just b doing other things. But i also understand that you get worried bc this is basically all the connection we have with her and its natural to become worried when that connection is changed. I guess im a little less over thinking... But then again, the world needs both kinds! :)
steeoked Yep. I agree. It's funny because she has no idea who I am but I feel so intimately connected to her. I've fallen asleep with her for so many nights, and she helped me through a rough divorce. I guess I consider her a friend.
This video inspired me and I made the soup tonight. I live in Texas and cold soup sounded perfect for this hot weather. It was DELICIOUS!! I followed her recipe and now have a new favorite food.
Can you make the chicken patties like you did for your husband when you two first met ?! Thank you love you 😍
nari han, YES! I forgot about those. Good call 🤗❤
Sassy Masha Vlogs you’re amazing and you made me smile so much for replying 😀thank you !!
nari han she did it!! Lol
abbey and dominique haha yes she did :)
@@SassyMashaVlogs I made your chicken patties from the ASMR video when you made them. They are delish. My husband and I have them regularly
This is so cool! Cold soup is rather foreign to me but seems like a great idea. I love that this recipe is vegetarian with the option of adding meat or not - a lot of soups rely on animal broth so I can’t eat them :( Always a pick me up to see a video from you - thank you! 💜💜
Indigo yes, me too! I guess I’m more talking about when I try and order soups at restaurants or eat them at other peoples’ houses. Mushroom broth is really good 😌
Pity eggs though :((
Sandra laffey Feel so sorry for you:/ Can’t imagine how you survive..
Best Hagi very very very well. 23 years of no eggs well !!! Choice.!! The animals have none. U idiot
Sandra laffey Oh my.. 23 years? Your parents must be really proud. Some achivement you got there. Hope they tell you how awesome you are.
Regards,
Vegetarian
If you were my friend in real life I would always be napping around you. Your voice gives me tingles even when you aren't trying. 😁
MMMMMM The Russian gazpacho! ;-) Iwill definitely try it. Besos desde España
In Poland we have a very similar dish which is also served with potatoes and it's scrummy
Zofia Anna there is a Russian soup called holodniy borsht (cold borsht), and it is exactly what you describe it to be. Very similar ingredients to this--the egg, the cucumber, radish, and dill, as well as a pink broth due to the beets. And of course--a dollop of sour cream on top.
I think I’ll make this next week. It remind me a little of tzatziki but extra! Thank you for sharing!
Her normal voice is SO soothing 😍
Ayyyy this is great! You should show us how to make herring under a fur coat sometime 🙏😌
In Turkey we don't add egg. And we call it "cacık". Try to add some dry mint. You'll gonna love it.
Aslıhan Aksoy in Armenia we only add cucumbers and green samit
Aslis Han we dont add redish and add freshly cut mint and tomatoes, and very little water almost dont dilute it much .
Lovely!! Thank you for sharing this with us Maria 😊💕
You are just such a kind good person
This soup looks delicious - thank you for sharing x

Hey masha! Love all that you do. Thanks for being so lovely and positive
Looks yummy. Definitely will try that. More Russian recipes please 😋
I made this yesterday and it was AMAZING! I've been making my own kefir every day for years. I usually just drink it straight for the health benefits and, although I don't mind the taste, it isn't exactly a pleasure. This soup is DELICIOUS and provides veggies as well as probiotics and protein. I had never heard of this soup and would never have thought of combining these ingredients but it is SO GOOD! Thank you, Maria. You help me destress, sleep and now have provided my new favorite recipe and summer food staple. And all of this for FREE! I hope all of the positivity you put out into the world comes back to you and your family in droves!
Wow! Very interesting and bizarre recipe for me! (I'm Greek) But I'll definitely try it! Thank you Masha! We are waiting for more!
Seems so refreshing for a hot summer day
Made this soup tonight, so glad I finally tried it. Delicious.

These cooking videos are honestly my favorite of yours
Your voice is so relaxing even if it’s not an asmr video. There no whispers so it’s great. And also educating 😊
Wow I love this old school Maria video!!
Looks awesome!! And perfect to beat the summer heat!
I will definitely be trying this! Maria thank u so much for sharing your Russian family recipes - so interesting and tasty-looking!

Just made this for lunch and it was wonderful! Thank you Maria:)
This looks so so yummy! Definitely trying this!
Looks so fresh! And it looks so beautifull and delicate...looks like a flower pattern from a fabric.!!😆👍👏👏👏
Looks great. I’m trying very soon. I love cold soups, this one seems divine.
woah this is so interesting! right now we're having the worst hot weather ever ....so why not? I'll give it a try
How was it
It’s good 👍
I always think of Russian people being very hardy and healthy, and this meal full of minerals, vitamins and probiotics probably explains why I think that. 💕🤗
I am very much a soup lover and this looks very good! Having roots in Finland and loving all soups, hot and cold, I can’t wait to try it! Love from Seattle ☔️ 💕
Такую диетическую окрошку ни когда не ела...но блин на столько аппетитно вы её кушаете,что сделаю так обязательно!
I’ve made this soup several times now and it’s become a favorite of mine. So delicious and perfect for summertime. ✨
Maria! I made this soup this week, and I absolutely loved it. Never tasted anything like it, but had it for lunch two days in a row. Loved the fresh, healthy feeling while also being very tasty. Thanks for sharing with us ❤️
Definitely going to try this, quite fond of all the ingredients (except maybe radish, but I imagine the freshness & heat it adds is necessary). Has sparked off some very interesting comments, great that we can all connect over food and our ancestors!
Ahhhh thank you! I was adopted from Russia when I was 3 and it would be awesome to be able to make russian dishes
Well, this is making my mouth water. It seems like a “spin” on a potato salad. Thanks for sharing this!
I’d love to try that! Russian cuisine is so fascinating.
I love your cooking videos with russian foods :)
It always nice to have something that tastes like home ☺️❤️
This looks so good!!! 😋😋😋
What a coincidence i just saw a recipe for Okroshka i a german magazin. i was very suprised but excited to see such a typical but rather unknown russian recipe. usually everybody just knows about pelmeni or borsh.
Definitely would love to see more traditional Russian meals prepared
This looks so refreshing! Definitely want to try it 😊
Different!! How lovely that it reminds you of home!
Made it and loved it...it is now a fav. Thanks and love😍😘👏🏼🌺🌞💞
I'm going to try this. Thank you!
I’m polish and I had something similar growing up! So good and refreshing!
Looks yummy. Thanks for sharing. I want to try this soup.
