Bro. Wendell Applewhite was a powerful and gifted baritone! The choir sang this negro spiritual beautifully even though they immediately went flat in pitch at the beginning. I appreciate that they sang the negro slave dialect properly too as written in the musical score.

I sang this with my high school choir in AL 1986-1987/8 Carla Wilkerson was the solo she was like this guy. Just incredible. She got a scholarship for college because of her amazing voice talent.

my Anglican church choir presented this gem during the offering in one of our Sunday services. in our mixed services we sing a variety of songs from all centuries and Christian traditions. normally we keep our music handy but we had to do this one from memory. the congregation LOVED this piece there is so much power in spirituals and I love to hear gospel choirs do it like this. looking forward to hearing great choirs of believers from all nations sing this after Yeshua returns
