I am a nature lover and I will buy a diamond back terrapin in the future
So they're only illegal to get in the wild but to purchase is ok
the care for the db terrapins is very involved so you need to be prepared for that
Very interesting !!! Awww the turle is soooo beautiful !! Stay connected !
Love seeing these in my back yard. In the wild!!!!!!!!!!!!!
where
Interesting, very informative. Really wanted one but didnt realise just how much went into the care. I dont have the tank capacity and the filtration would be costly. Thanks for the helpful video.
You are welcome
I love those beautiful turtles đą
This helped alot
I remember when I was like 9-10 I found one at the beach and wanted to keep it so bad until we found out it was a diamond back and sadly we have to give him up but Iâm sure he had a very happy life where he went
You are a good human!
Getting my terrapins from Jason too!
Miss when you used to keep peacocks and haps. Your what helped me get into the hobby đą
Me too!
@@brianp6180 yeah thatâs why I stopped watching him, hopefully he comes back to it! He needs too
Iâm glad you are still around every once in a while.
@@Jaywil07 np man, itâs about the love and fish â„ïžđ
For the tank size wouldnât 10 gallons for every inch long the shell work? Of course i would want to give them a tank above the minimum, but this is just what Iâve heard works for all turtles.
(It would be different for more than one, but Iâm talking about only one in a tank)
Now I want one
Better get into it.
@@Jaywil07 I will, I just set up a 60 gallon South American planted tank that I finally stocked with a pair of discus

I want to add a turtle to my community fish tank I've seen some turtles co-exsist with fish its a 7ft tank 1000litre what would you recommend?
My teacher has a terrapin named buba.T
Do they have to live in something really big ?
I recently ended up with one of these as a pet. My momâs boyfriend bought 2 of these a few years ago but hes a horrible pet owner. One of them has already passed away from the horrible conditions he keeps them in. He gets pets like these and then leaves them to die. So i convinced my mom to give me the turtle to try to give it a better life. This turtles shell is severely disfigured, she obviously has something wrong with her. I want to nurse it back to health but itâs so expensive. My momâs boyfriend had the turtle in a 10 inch by 10 inch cooler. Yes a cooler for drinks. The turtle didnt even have enough room to turn around. It was so sad, it would stare at is a white wall all day and night. There was no filtration and the water was rarely changed. He only kept like and inch of water in it so the turtle was never submerged completely. I now have her in a 10 gallon tank with a filter but i know this isnât adequate. Im slowly trying to get a good tank together its just a money issue. Thanks for your help and if you can give me any tips for getting this turtle healthy let me know.
Just get that beauty into the best care you can with uvb and some heat
@@Jaywil07 absolutely will be doing that! Thanks for the help
I'm all about "Double It!"
Double it
Hi Jay, where do you get your turtle tanks from?
@customaquariums
Can one male live with a crayfish and some fish in a 75 gallon?
So this must have been a recent law change but what if you got one before the law came into affect when it was still legal? Would that mean youâd have to get rid of your turtle? I got my turtle back like 2 years ago when the law in Florida was one terrapin can be taken from the wild per person per day and the limit of owning them were 2. So could I get in legal trouble for owning my turtle? I found him in the road as a baby all dried up and nowhere near water. He basically has been in captivity all his life.
If itâs from the wild the person who took it is responsible if you didnât know.
They are very endangered. Thatâs why you want to make 100% sure your source is a good source from captive bred Turtles.
4:57 what kind of terrapin is that?
Itâs an ornate
I have mine in brackish water.
75 gallon tanks no fish. Mine have coral substrate to chew and keep their beaks in shape.
I have the sun sun canister filter, also a HOB and a sterilizer and water polisher.
Mazzuri?
M not sure I have a terrapin, he was bloody and beat up and just a little tiny guy. He is healing but maybe blind in one eye
Those are the healthiest turtles I've ever seen
Thank you
Horrible audio quality it sucks because its a great vjdeo
Illegal to take out of the wild? Not in Louisiana.
You must have a Reptile/Amphibian Wholesale/Dealer's License to buy for resale native reptiles or to transport them for commercial
purposes in or out of state, whether wild caught or captive reared, regardless of generations removed from the wild or geographic origin.
2. It is unlawful to possess a Gopher tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus), Ringed map turtle (Graptemys oculifera) or any Sea Turtle
3. Non-native species do not appear to be regulatedYou must have a basic fishing license to collect and/or possess native reptiles in Louisiana
4. You must have a Reptile/Amphibian Collector's License to sell wild caught native reptiles to wholesalers and retailers in Louisiana
5. You may not buy or sell box turtles in Louisiana but may have up to 4 in your possession, regardless of origin, per person, unless you have a
turtle farming license.
6. Wild-caught alligator snapping turtles and parts thereof may not be bought or sold in Louisiana. There are no total possession limits and no
size restrictions but the bag limit is one per day. Anyone with a Collector's License, Wholesale Dealer's License or Commercial Fishing
License may not possess alligator snappers or parts.
Wish the sound worked so I could concentrate on what you're sayingđą
