    Saw them once as the support act for a big name headliner. They took over the gig, blew everyones' minds, then after they finished, half the crowd left the venue! Amazing.

    March 12 1990, went along to Glasgow Barrowlands in Scotland to see the Georgia Satellites , had only heard one album and liked it enough to go see them live, not sure what to expect , but hey it was a night out any way, but by god what a show this was, the place was bouncing, the atmosphere was electric, the band and the crowd played off each other all night, and what I hoped would be a decent gig turned out to be the best live show I’ve ever seen in my life, never been beaten and never will be beaten,. All their albums are great, but to see them live was just incredible, thanks guys for giving me one of the best nights of my life

      They used to play in Atlanta as The Hellhounds. They played at my fraternity house twice a month for two years. Freaking amazing! They played for us again after they hit the big time and that was the wildest show; we got kicked off campus and ended up in Playboy magazine. You're right, without make-up and special effects, they brought nothing but pure rock and energy to the stage. Dan Baird's Love Songs For The Hearing Impaired is the last great Southern rock album.

      @@BigPicture2012 yeah BP i know what u mean ,couldn't agree more, 1 gibson and 1 fender , probably std. tuning w/o a bunch of pedals, just balls to the wall kick ass r and r and 100% pure talent. Dan's thoroughly enjoying himself , have'nt seen a drummer whack the skins that hard throughout the whole show since Kenny Aronoff from Mellancamp's Lonesome Jubilee tour. Geez what an incredible band. What a shame they couldn't keep it going , music sure isn't the way it used to be. i mean we go from these guys to Drake , Bieber and Beyonce. WTF, What the hell is happening to us?

    Criminally underrated band. It's a shame they came out when they did - they had no chance in the MTV 80s/90s, but their music holds up so well.

    • @eltoro969
      @eltoro969 Před 3 lety +6

      I disagree. They were huge in Europe at the time. Not underated here at all but maybe in USA? They got forgotten after some years though. They were one of those bands who didn`t survive the alternative rock scene in the mid 90s but they had a huge part in making real music come back in the late 80s.

    Things that should've & could've been. Biard & Richards separate are good, together they're Rock Gods! Could've & should've been mentioned as Rock Elites by now, if they'd just stayed together & put music out together! I worked security with bands in 80s & 90s. Never seen a band gel with the crowd like these guys! They were fricken phenomenal live, seen a small concert where they took request for songs from crowd. Played 2 hours straight & nailed everything asked of them! I've seen some killer bands live from 60s, 70s 80s, & 90s. These guys together were as good as any! Ahh the 80s, take me back!!!

    • @eltoro969
      @eltoro969 Před 3 lety +2

      It doesn`t get more pure rock and roll as GS. They were a big part of killing off the glam metal thing in the late 80s. Hanoi Rocks, GnR, Black Crowes, Georgia Satellites, The Waterboys, Lenny Kravitz were all a part of making the bluesy rock and roll popular again.. it was basically just early 70s rythm and blues rock and boogie but people were so starved for real music after all the crap in the late 80s, they completely changed the music scene.

    Good old memories of a Great Rock Band. This style of rock music is called, Boogie Woogie Rock. I had the pleasure of hearing them at the Roskilde Festival back in 1988, when the audience was singing and dancing along "keep your hands for yourself" and other great songs in a force that Lead singer, Daniel John Baird appreciated! Det var SÅ fed en koncert!
    Det var mit første år på Roskilde, og jeg var afsted med min storebror.
    Jeg var 14 og min storebror var 16. Vi tog afsted, kun os to, og det var sandsynligvis med stor ængstelse fra vores forældre, men de må jo have stolet på vores fornuft og dømmekraft.
    Vi var begge fast besluttede på at skulle på Roskilde, og dette skyldtes hovedsageligt tre koncerter vi så på tv året før, i 1988.
    Disse tre koncerter var med The Georgia Satelites, Disneyland After Dark og The Church.
    Vores liv, og specielt mit da jeg har været på Rosser'n hvert eneste år lige siden, blev ændret for evigt...!

      There was a whole underground movement in the 80's. We called ourselves "Roots Rockers" back then, but you probably know it better as the "Americana" movement now. These days, there's more folk and country infused into it. Its mellowed a little but really come into its own as an art form. Back then, though, we rocked our asses off.

    What a great band! Classic, hard driving, full bore, 'pedal to the metal', rock n roll. I honestly never knew this band was that good! Instrumentally, the harmonies, the guitar riffs, rhythm section, the songwriting, all top drawer. One of the most under-rated rock bands I have ever heard. They were every bit as good as their much better known 80's contemporaries, like Guns and Roses, Bon Jovi, etc. Bad name choice though, it's just not memorable and not a 'kick ass' rock n roll band name. The Hell Hounds would have been a much better name, if they had kept it.
