- This week I am finally working on the large Japanese quince in the corner of the garden. I show you how to approach pruning of a big shrub like that and how to bring its overgrown form into a nice shape again. As always, there are many tips for the work I do in this video.

I jus prune a Quince that I have in a pot, take off some branches. I was expecting to see some new shots coming from the old branches, but instead, the new branches come from the base/roots. I found that very interesting.
Thank you! Yes, quinces tend to grow out from the root stock as well and hence get wider at the base over time. Any cut branches will produce new branches too, which may grow out straight or sometimes at an almost 90 degree angle.
