This is a good video and everything is correct! Other videos always miss some fact but this one covered all of them. I would just add that they live longer on average 16-18 years, read that one from multiple sources. I do have 2 year old Lagotto. I could also add the fact that they don't smell, at all.also, they are not alpha dogs, don't fight with other dogs or have food aggression or anything like that. They can endure all playfulness of a 4 year old without a slightest problem! Great for kids! Beside great sense of smell they have sensitive hearing and good awareness making them very good watchdogs. Usually people don't mention that when talking about lagotto.

how close are they to the owners? they like to cuddle or just be around with their own personal space? my golden retriever passed away recently and I'm looking for a dog, my mother have allergie toward dogs but she love them, so that's one good reason to look for a lagotto since they don't shed a lot

@@leovfl i can tell you from my own expirience that Lagottos are real dogs, meaning: the are not just fluffy toys. They watch, they alert, they love doing tasks, tjey love to please owner. Also, they are energetic dogs but adaptable. If you take them out only for half an hour they will adapt to that. If you can, you should give them proper phyisical activity. They are smart but stubborn(independent). Thats their only a bit negative side. Everything else is great. We have male Lagotto, in a flat, so we neutered him, in the end, so it softened him a bit, he wants to cuddle more but he panicks a little more , when we leave. The only real problem for your mum could be the fact that they are not cuddly fluffy toy dogs like some toy poodles, they cuddle but, lets say, in normal amount. As puppies they are all day active! Like Duracell bunnies:) They love their owners and are affectionate towards them, and they are emotional( sensitive), good by nature. They are very tolerant, for example, if your mum accidentaly step on them they won’t bite her. The same thing if a kid jump on them, even when they are asleep. They are great with kids and for kids. They are very good watch dogs but not guardian dogs, some of them get scared easily…

      @@PretendeP thanks for the reply.
I'm asking because I'm used to my golden wanting to be by my side 24/7 and for me that's was awesome, I enjoyed her companionship a lot on the 12 years that she lived but my mother suffered a little bit with that since they shed a lot. The fact that he can be more independent might not be a downside after all for my mother, but with an hypoallergenic breed she can be much closer to the dog.
I'm considering a lagotto or a standard schnauzer, already found a great and responsible breeder for each breed near me, now I'm doing a little bit of a research towards both breeds, the lagotto you find a little less content by owners on the internet.
I'm sorry if I can't be clear, I'm brazilian so english is not my native language.

@@PretendeP The Lagottos, here in Italy, were used like guard dogs too; they are very good in that, since they notice every single noise or everything they recon unusual. Plus they are very brave; if they look shy, something is wrong. They are working dogs, and they must be indipendent; this is essential in a dog that has to find truffles. They are absolutely not good with children, sorry to say that, but they hate every person that gets too close to them, they love to keep their own space. They are mostly social with other dogs, and super close with their humans…

@@1mizar1 Thanks for a very interesting info, firsthand! Yes, our male is doing his watching and guarding part all by himself, by instinct , we never thaught him anything about it. and he is great at it! here in Serbia there are lot of Lagottos, they became very popular pet dog, maybe among top five dog breeds. Our lagotto, Munja (Bolt) is wonderful with our son, who is six now. Munja is 2.5 years of age now. he plays with him even if we dont invite him into play:)) He loves us , his humans, alot. and he is very emotional. other pepole also confirmed that their lagottos are great with their kids. i assume that one of the main reason is that we live, predominantly, in flats so we all share a relatively small space and we are together with our lagottos all day. maybe it would be different , in that context, if Munja was living in a yard of a house. and yes, he is independent :) Thanks for the info, again! I was wondering: is there Lagotto showline breed? as I understand there are only working lines ... Cheers!
