With Nappa unable to beat the Z fighters, Vegeta quickly disposes of him, claiming he has no further use for him. In an attempt to avoid any unnecessary casualities, Goku lures Vegeta to a nearby wasteland and challenges him in a one on one showdown for the fate of the earth...

Unlike Nappa, Vegeta can actually dish out some mean combos to everyone (even Goku w/ Kaioken). It is possible for Goku to easily take out Vegeta without Kaioken depending on your level, but with just Kaioken x2, you can easily kill Vegeta in just a few turns. If your Z fighters manage to make it to help Goku, DO NOT let them attack Vegeta. If your Goku can't handle Vegeta, try using the moon card you looted from Nappa to get Gohan's BP x10 and help you out (but Vegeta can spam Energy Disks and cut his tail). If you wanna let Vegeta go Great Ape you have to try and deal low damage to him, eventually he'll throw his Energy Ball and transform, making him the 3rd strongest enemy in the game (6th if you count all of Frieza's forms). Vegeta is near un-killable in this form since even Goku can't deal that much damage to him, but you can cut his tail off to revert him back to normal.
1) With a Ki Card, use Krillin's Destructo Disk (though Vegeta can dodge it).
2) Use the Yajoribe card, which works 100% of the time (If you don't know how to get it, check the previous walkthrough).

This is my favorite dbz game. Played tons of it and every time I got to the Namek planet I would max out every character. I would spend hours grinding all of my guys out. Love this game thanks for the memories.

About 20 or so... he tends to spam energy attacks rather then using his Moon special.
Its not scripted to happen so there is a chance you won't encounter Great Ape Vegeta unless you are extremely lucky or manage to slowly damage him each match. In terms of odds, there is about... 1/60 chance he'll use the moon technique and transform.
if you fully heal gohan he would have leveled up when he was at 3hp
Well thats half true, on Namek you are expected to grind alot if you want to stand a chance against Cui, Dodoria, Zarbon and the Ginyu Force (Atleast until Goku arrives). I grinded until Gohan was around 13,000 because I wanted Vegeta to be of some use during the parts before Goku arrives, even though he can be a pain in the ass...
I stopped mainly because Namek was where hell went loose in terms of difficulty. I haven't played in awhile so I might not remember all the quirks and positions, etc but if you want I'll try it out.

Ugh, I’m playing this game again for over the 9000th time lol, and would love to know of anyone has discovered any sort of trigger or cause for an increased chance for Vegeta to transform….ive played this game start to finish NUMEROUS times over the past 20 some odd years and ONLY ONCE have I ever had Vegeta transform….and it was on one of my earlier playthroughs, so I can’t remember anything other than getting dusted by Vegeta in record time and having to restart…..haha I’m prepared now (I think…180,000 BP is no joke at this point in the game) I’d LOVE to have a rematch against Oozaru Vegeta!!
On this run, I didn’t do any cheats by giving Goku a bunch of Zenkai levels while holding Raditz, but Goku did show up on earth immediately getting every level possible naturally, when fighting Vegeta his BP is over 12,000, so using Kaioken from a Z level card should boost Goku quite a bit….plus I’ve got that King Kai card for another 25% boost….between this and Oozaru Gohan I think I can take him!!! lol, if not I’ve always got good ole Yajirobe haha
Actually, my Goku probably isn’t powerful enough….i still want to fight him though lol
I starting to think Goku needs to have Kaioken activated, at least Kaioken x1 or x2….i’m gonna try that and see what happens
@GaiaX5 Takes 5 turns to charge it fully, but you can launch the attack any time you want during the charging phase.
@dgenerate68 It happens randomly, chances are 1/10 tho since he likes to spam Energy Disk or Galick Gun.
@ZikicaKikica Depending on how many rounds you charge it, the attack power of the card you use, Goku's Battle Power compared to the enemy's and the defense power of the card your enemy uses, it can range from 100 - 500 damage.

I really wanted to see how you'd do on Namek considering the nature of this game has many hidden secrets. Like I didn't know before how well you did on Kai's planet determines how fast Goku arrives on Earth. The other walkthrough I read just said you were suppose to find him somewhere on earth which is apparently false.
That is one epic battle with Oozaru Vegeta. How do you make this happen very clear?

Im hawe truble whit moment whit fight Goku vs Vegeta im go Gohan to battle boot im land in side of Vegeta end game change team not go to Goku it was single battle im beet Vegeta end get Vegeta in item ent it repet serial Times , only thing change is that im can only play Goku after defending Vegeta . Im dont knowe what go wrong end how fix it

I'm not too sure. Since the time I asked I've been working on it and apparently it has something to do with how long it takes you to beat the saibamen and Nappa. So far it looks to me like the longer you take, the more likely he'll change.
If you can help me nail this down and confirm it I'd appreciate it.

is there any other way to obtain the moon item for gohan?
The only other way I can remember off the back of my head is wishing for it on Namek. Its not phrased "give me a moon card" per say but I do recall it lets you get another moon card at the price of a wish.
