I love how Mark speaks - very direct and VERY specific with his word choice. Doing it on the fly without pause is not easy but it's second nature when you're speaking from a knowledge base with so much experience.
Great video, thanks guys!
Follow his insta
omg I loved the integration of the interior footage projected onto the glass
You guys have come a loooooong way - from car reviews to pro-driving videos. Keep up the great work!
Watching the Veloster closing the gap to the Challenger was satisfying.
Also the McLaren entering the track at 3:35
I see no McLaren...
The one leaving the track is a Ferrari 488GTB.
The one entering the track with a blue/green colour is a Nissan 350Z.
The one entering the track with a red colour is possibly a Honda Civic Type R FK8.
And the last car entering the track with a pale blue is a Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder...
@@Basics_of_Gameology good looking out
Yeah, that looked like a 350Z
Love the interior shot on the back window! Perfect way to show what's happening inside the car without cutting away from the lap. Way to go guys, looks like you had a blast and learned a lot too.
It was a nice trick
If all videos were this caliber, I'd say this channel might be more valuable than Top Gear for drivers.
The POV from inside playing from the back of the windshield while the car is driving is legendary. Love all of the videos keep up the great work.
Yeah, that was exactly my thought. It is great to have both images without any being obtrusive.
Loving the Veloster N
One of the best hot hatches ever made
great instructor. i track awd cars. fwd is a little tricky, lots of trail braking. great to learn on. very little chance of wiping out. pain in the ass controlling tire temps though since the fronts handle acceleration and cornering. i used to run straggered wider fronts on my integra to induce a little entry oversteer.
its cool that u can take a bone stock Veloster n to the track without even changing brake pads and tires
You Can take anything to the track without pads and tires, but adding pads and tires will make you faster in any car as well
This looks like a lot of fun and a patient instructor too.
Great video! You guys did great and can now hit cliche corner like a champ
The perfect Sunday dinner material (Poland here) ♥♥♥
Chlastek Sunday breakfast here in Houston 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Amazing video and information!
Thank you for doing this track day instruction with a professional driver. I’ve been following the Bryan Herta Autosport team and Mark Wilkins is an excellent driver to learn from.
Please make more of these the information is fantastic. It is refreshing to see amateur track drivers learn and become faster and safer on the track!
Well done Straight Pipes!
Great video guys! Loved the in car IN the back window. 🤘
Perfect way to view the in-car footage while watching a track day.
Fantastic to see what a difference good instruction can make in terms of lap times. Everyone's so focused on what mods you need to make to your car to go faster, it's so easy to forget what a big factor the driver is.
Driver mods knocked 2+ seconds off Yuri and Jakub's laps, and on a tight track that's ages worth of difference! Awesome video, guys 👍
That was the difference between the Type R and Veloster N earlier! That's like $6000 of performance just through learning!
Keep racing on the track and off the streets.
As someone who is saving up for a Veloster N I love this video even more! Great work guys!
Why not a type R?
Daniel Bencosme it’s a little out of my price range
Did you get one?
@@MatthewWalcott I wish… I went with a car much more budget friendly.
You?
@@jimmyreinstein9993 I got a Type R after my STI blew up. What'd you get into?
THIS is quality content! You guys work so hard to further the channel and become better drivers. Shows you're both serious about this. Much appreciated now go murder cliche corner!!
❤️
Love your videos specially the intro when you get it the car❤👌
What a difference proper driving instruction makes to lap times. Almost 3 seconds faster a lap is massive. Running 3 seconds faster a lap could like adding slicks or 100hp to a car, which of course is a lot of money. I did really like the pro drivers comments about lap consistancy
These are the videos that I wish there were a LOVE button...
Love the video, but please guys, "before" on the left, and "after" on the right. It's just so jarring the other way around.
Ya you’re probably right
Left is right and right is left. Lol. Right is right.
Yeah, good video but that TOTALLY did my head in
This is one of the coolest videos ever. I loved the side-by-side comparisons and added commentary. Not only did you guys get to learn, but allowed the lessons to trickle down to the viewers as well. Awesome content!
Awesome! That was the goal
this is also a story of an underdog beating the previously faster guy :) kudos to both of you. you guys always achieve to make us live those exciting moments with you :) thank you.
Really dig the music, great retro synthwave sound, that is my jam! Camerawork (droneshots!!!) and editing is superb, very creative way to compare the laps and integrate the informative talk into the pace of the video. I learned a lot following your racing progress.
This guy’s great and patient Instructor. I’m rooting for him when he races.
Great to hear that you're going to do more of these.
Ive bought a Veloster N cause it was my dream car ever since it came out. Thanks for this vid ! It helped me A WHOLE LOT on learning to handle the car a bit more! It was a blast to watch and also learn !
Nice driving guys. One huge thing I learned from my autox instructors is car positioning rather than trying to take the ideal line.
Great video. You'll never look at Cliche corner the same way again.
Love how you overlay the in-car footage on the rear window!
Perfect, Mark is great, learned a lot
I love the dual view video overlay! Awesome. Great info from the pro in this video, thank you for sharing!
Looks like so much fun. And I'll add to the comments of people talking about how you all have grown this channel over the years. Bravo. But also, I love that you are still playful with things like the video superimposed on the rear window!
Loving the retro synth wave.
Fantastic. Learned a bunch.
Finding a track to practice...
My favorite CZcamsrs driving my favorite car; a perfect way to wake up.
Half an hour video?! FINALLY!!
I wasn’t expecting this🔥🔥
The production on your videos are out of this world
WOW what a great video! Reminds me of the video with Kazunori Yamaguchi with Lewis Hamilton!
great advice immediately usable.
Love how you guys placed the in car footage on the back glass.
;-)
One thing I want to ask TheStraightPipes are the N you drove on track a COMPLETELY stock N... even braking fluid and brake pads?? Did all 3 of you drove the SAME car?? How much the car get "rest" between takes in the video? Any overheated or brake fate? From the video, I am impressed Hyundai made a track car that can go round after around!!!
The N is really meant to be used straight on a track, with EVERYTHING stock.
@@spaceman-pe5je still sucks
@@behindthen0thing you suck
Incredible video guys! I'm G'd up to go to the track now!
P.S. Would love to see you guys review a LC500!
Wow, what a great video for first time track people to watch. So much good info here, not to mention the usual awesome camera work. This might be the best Straight Pipes video yet, great job guys!
Awesome
A 36 min SP videos?! You boys are spoiling us!
Loved this video! Wonderful production as always. Really enjoyed Mark's comments, loved the lap narrations and all the nitty gritty details and fine tuning. Curious to know if the track experience has changed your road driving at all.
Another great vid. You know what I'd love to see from you two? A list of your favorite cars by category, like Favorite Hatchback or Favorite SUV. It could be an end of year thing or mid season, whatever, and do it every year. Even if there isn't a lot of change, it would still be interesting. You allude to your faves throughout different vids, but it would be nice to have it in one video. Keep up the good work!
I have an idea to do that!
you two sold this car for me.thank you
Very good advice, thanks guys!
I have some sick photos through the Chicane at that track!
Definitely jealous you guys got to rip the N around it!
👍🏻👍🏻
Just ordered my Straightpipes’s T-shirt. Y’all are the best.
great vid... thank you for bringing us along and sharing your vids.
Great video. It’s awesome to learn some tips with you guys on the track. Well done gents, well done.
That was fun. Thanks for taking us along!
What a fun day, great footage, great pointers...
Awesome video, felt like a Gran Turismo laptime improving gaming session. Keep up the great work.
Never been to a race track, but this guys guidance is specific for Veloster, which seems similar to rear setup. My stock setup that understeers would require lots of stabs on the brake to help rotate rear end and lower gears for sharp input to help with weight transfer. (and really good front pads & rotors to compensate for the none track setup). Not a fan of front drives that are made to behave like rear drive. It means that they'll suck on the streets.
Great vid. Some of my telemetry in single seater cars was embarrassing when they overlaid it over the fast drivers. I wasn't a racer, I just did some really excellent days at various venues that had baby F1 cars :)
That was a really interesting episode, great content my guys, keep it coming :)
Mark is a great instructor, great video and job guys
Hey, Yuri and Jakub :) I've been a huge fan of the channel since the GTI video last January. I'm 19 years old, about to enter my second year in college and ready to buy my first car. After looking diligently for the past 6 months, I've come up with 6 options within my $5-7k budget: A MK5 Golf GTI or R32, Mazdaspeed 3 (either gen), or a Lexus IS/GS 300 between the years 2000 and 2005. Can either of you help me out with deciding from these or give some advice/alternatives? My criteria is pretty straight forward: seating for 4, fun to drive, somewhat fuel efficient, winter worthy, and affordable in insurance and maintenance. Thanks again for bringing us such good content and here's hoping to 1,000,000 subs by the end of the year.
Love the video overlay on the rear Hatch! Brilliant. And great music choice too!
The tips in this video helped me get to a 1.26.42 in my ND2! Much appreciated
Great content guys, ever improving, as content creators, and drivers apparently :)
Love the channel, car reviews and other car related content sprinkled in
Very cool video. Excellent job editing
I wish the closest race track wasn't 2000 km way. 😭 Guess I'll keep honing my skills in rally.
Great video... If that was me driving the instructor would have kicked me out after the 1st corner..
I simply play a lot of racing games like Gran Turismo/Forza motorsport even some mobile racing games and I realize it kind of helped with me knowing where my lines are on the track😂
Great content, I've learned alot, thank you !! Some great cliche corners are waiting you !
wow best driver training video i have ever seen
Working your way up to Top Gear
😎👍🏾 man those Veloster N can really take a pounding.. great job guys 👍🏾
cool video. This guy seems like an awesome teacher. I wish I could learn from someone like that!
Super informative! Do more of these please, maybe an awd car (Golf R or sg) would be sometime? To compare the techniques in cornering and the lines to use.
Duuuude! Amazing content!
Great coaching BTW.
ENDING COMMENTARY WAS AWESOME HAHAHA
Awesome video guys! I learned a lot!
Awesome series guys, loved it!
Great video, instruction guys !!
Great video! I'd love to see one at Calabogie Motorsports park. I know it's farther away but it's a different style track
Loving this content, very informative. The side by side lap format is great, absolutely love the camera angles.
I hope to see more videos like this in the future, keep it up.
Great video. Learned a lot
Now I know I've been too hard on my brakes...explains a lot of melting pads now!
Everyone who drives should take a few driver's courses, even if they're just casual drivers. This will increase confidence, skill, and knowledge on cars, preventing more accidents, and who knows, possibly breeding more car enthusiasts.
Try this with any American car, Chevrolet, Cadillac, ford, Dodge. You will be limp mode after 4 laps. Impressed with the little car .
The i30N Fastback is growing on me 🙈
This music is absolutely fucking deadly 👌🏻
Oh hey 4K video ! Woooo !
Very good explanation, thanks a lot! Good job
good video editing. very educational vid
Man I need a driving lesson in the Veloster N
Shout out to the simracers
good job, guys.
Good work, love the videos.
Pretty much a racing driver!
Great Instructor 👍 can always pick up some Tips from Pros
Love this video! Great content
You know it's good editing when you're looking at something completely bizarre but the brain manages to accept it as normal BECAUSE IT WORKS better than anyone else. The bar is set here. There's only one other guy I know of on YT whose editing is on par with TSP and he's into ships, not cars.
Everyone will copy us soon. We’re ready for it
