    You sensibility and clear direction gives me so much confidence when I approach a tree. Watching you has clarified so many concepts that books generalize. I am glad you share yourself on CZcams

    Peter's rough shearing gives me anxiety - I know time is a luxury when you run a nursery but there's no other good reason to be that cavalier about pruning.

    I though you would have cut it into pads (clouds). This was extreme.

      Jonny Smash you're looking at a specimen tree they easily go upwards over a thousand dollars

    • @WR3ND
      @WR3ND Před 5 lety

      Strong trunk and base, and he opened it up nicely, but could use better branch development. For as strong as the main trunk is, I would think it should be a bit further progressed by now so that there is less of a contrast. It should still be able to come along nicely, but it will take a few years yet, I would think.

    • @WR3ND
      @WR3ND Před 5 lety

      So anyway, there is a lot of potential with a strong foundation, in more ways then one, so I think that's where the estimate is coming from, but it is still a fair bit of a work in progress. A good investment, but only in the right hands, as it were.

    never seem anyone hack a tree like this guy! He might as well use a hedge trimmer will be faster, as he seems to treat it as a race against time.

      This is how many bonsai professionals work who need to work on many trees, but they get better results than people who work slowly most of the time because they don’t overwork the tree and leave some things to chance so that the tree ends up looking more natural rather than contrived. In autumn they will often go back and do more detailed and careful work.

    • @Robin-qn7tr
      @Robin-qn7tr Před 5 lety +1

      I agree with Peter Bone....when you have done this for as many years and with thousands of trees you know instinctively what look you want to achieve. This man does competition exhibits on the results of his trees some taking over 60 yrs to get the shape he wants
