Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. Drummers have often commented on just how realistic his sound is. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.
Also Austin's woman is on the camera, you can really tell when he looks that way.
Austin (the lead in this one) is of course unreal, but I am also blown away by Adam Rupp, the beat boxer, and his amazing drums - the realistic quality and the perfect artistry.

What's cool is that they recorded this at their separate home's in different states hence the monitors because of the lockdown they even have a album called the sounds of the lockdown

Actually Michael Bolton's version is a cover too. The song was written by Calvin Lewis and Andrew Wright and first recorded by Percy Sledge in 1966. When a man loves a woman...Homefree masterpiece...well one of them . After Majestica and Sabaton home free is my number 3. I know I am not a patreon but I asked for that too. Austin, who is the main singer in this is amazing. He has 5 octaves... ( Tommy has almost 4) that is insane. And even more insane...Tim Foust, the bass has also 5 octaves. He just starts lower. Their harmonies are absolutely amazing. There is lot more where that comes from. But you have to stay in the right order. Next try out their cover of brothers in Arms of Dire Straits and then Mayday , cover from Cam. Then you can figure out what they can do.

I never heard the Michael Bolton version although watching reactors, I have heard that he did. I have yet to listen to his version as I think this version from Home Free did Percy Sledge great justice. I am sure he would be proud of them too. Thank you for your reaction, glad you enjoyed it.

Yes, Austin Brown nailed it. He gives himself completely here and also plays very well with the cameras. The great harmonies, deep bass and the unbelievably freaking good beatboxing/vocal percussion/vocal sounds finish it all off for me. I think it sounds perfect because of all the different beautiful voices. I grew up performing Percy Sledge which I already loved. Then came Michael Bolton's performance where I couldn't say it was better. But this one from Home Free certainly is.

I love watching the gobsmacked look on people’s faces when Austin hits that first note! Austin nailed this and made it his own. I grew up on the Percy Sledge version, vividly remember when Michael Bolton’s version came out (and loved it) … and this blew Bolton’s away, IMHO. Didn’t hurt that Austin’s girlfriend was standing next to the cameraman….

Decades ago my first time hearing this song was the original artist Percy Sledge. It has always been my favorite, because it was my first hearing and therefore my first love. Michael Bolton's version was in line for the first cover of this, and it was unique enough of a take on Percy's so it went into the line up. Many people have covered this piece, but now there a 3 in the line up of outstanding renditions with yet another cover that does justice to Percy's original. I think it would have to be something stirring enough to touch my soul again like these 3 have done. A Beautiful song plus talent on loan from god is what it would take to be consider entry into this hall of fame!

Yup. Wow pretty much covers it. I've never liked this song, neither Percy Sledge nor Michael Bolton. Still don't like the song. But the guys killed it. Awesome backing harmonies. Perfect percussion. I always loved the late Percy Sledge's original (not so much Michael Bolton's - I thought it rather over-wrought). I love Home Free's version & I think Mr. Sledge would have approved. You really need to dive down the Home Free rabbit hole - each of the band's members is lavishly talented. By the way, two of them (including the singer of this one) are song writers. Home Free has original songs as well as covers and then are loads of live videos on their channel and on the channels of the individuals. I just subscribed to your channel - love from Canada.

Michael Bolton? Yeah, no. Not even close. This was Percy Sledge's hit. His version was full of angst. Austin's rendition is full of love - he was singing to his girlfriend who was in the studio just off camera. Those looks are real. Austin owns this now. No one else could take Percy's song and make it even better.
