  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. The Ultraman triathlon is an ultra distance triathlon consisting of a 6.2 mile open water swim, a 260 mile bike ride, and a 52.4 mile double marathon run. The Ultraman is an unpredictable event. Taking place under harsh conditions on the Big Island of Hawaii, it is as mentally demanding as it is physically. In 2010, Adam Peruta completed two of these races in the same calendar year, which made him the 17th person ever to do so. This is the story of setting the goal to take on a seemingly impossible challenge-and doing whatever it takes to cross the finish line.
Adam Peruta is a professor at Ithaca College who teaches graphic design, advertising art direction, and branding. He enjoys teaching students how to use technology and design to create new user experiences, and has been involved in numerous successful startups. Outside of the classroom Adam enjoys living an active lifestyle and has participated in hundreds of races ranging from 5Ks to Ironman triathlons to 100 mile runs. Adam is also a USA Triathlon Level I certified coach. He has passions for good design, writing code, and running far.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Good stuff!!!! There's something about pushing yourself beyond your limits that people need to experience at least once in their lives. You need to take that chance at least once just to see what you can really do. Once you get the courage, make the commitment and take that chance....your life is never the same!!!

You are commited and will make time, or you are not, and keep finding excuses. That's it ... that really is it.
