Nigeria has arrested dozens of protesters who were seen waving Russian flags. The flags were raised in some northern Nigerian states. The Nigerian government has also detained 7 Polish citizens, who it says were caught waving the flags. Abuja seems terrified of the prospect of pro-Russia sentiments in the country. Russian flags were also raised in its neighbouring country, Niger, while a coup took place there last year. Meanwhile, Niger and Mali have severed diplomatic ties with Ukraine. Is Moscow's clout in West Africa growing?

Nigeria is terribly divided along ethnic lines all because of bad governance over the years. Nigeria is yet to get leadership that can unite the country.
