I just noticed that Penny is touched by the invitation, while Amy knows that Sheldon is trying to wiggle out of a date.
Usually it is Penny who picks up on ulterior motives, and I like that this showcases how well Amy knows Sheldon.

What fell off was the Leon/Penny stuff, it was hard rooting for them when he is just a wifenagged pushover. Amy and Sheldon actually brought comedy cuz of their chemistry.
It should have ended when they bought amy on, and she entered into contractual servitude to the man baby.
This show aged so badly.
It's the formula of a sitcom - and the formula of Sheldon. That is a punchline. just stop watching and whining in the comments, if you are incapable of understanding what a sitcom is, and after watching Big Bang for years, if you still don't get what a punchline is, or a typical Sheldonism on this show. Don't you have smth better to do in life than watching smth you hate and commenting negatively 24/7?
