    I use the same Bestek 300 exclusively to power an AC heated mattress pad when I'm camping. The pad controls will not work with my larger modified sine wave system. To get peak power I cut off the 12 volt plug and attached terminal lugs, being very careful to not reverse the connections. The lead wire with the white stripe is the positive connection on mine. My Bestek 300 is on it's second camping season and works very well for me.

    I bought the Giandel PSW 300 watt inverter. It came with the 12v cigarette lighter plug hard wired as well. Even if I connect it straight to my fully charged battery bank I cannot get more than 180 watts out of it before it goes into fault mode.

    • @Bassguitarist1985
      @Bassguitarist1985  Před rokem

      That's normal you cannot pull more than 180 watts from a cigarette lighter adapter. It likely can surge up to 300 watts for half a second.

      @@Bassguitarist1985 You misunderstand. I cut off the cig plug and wired the leads straight to my battery bank. Cannot get advertised wattage from it no matter what I do. I call it false advertising.

      @@troyyarbrough I agree. I don't think it was ever intended on being 300 watts continuous. 300 w peak yes but that's where the false advertising comes in. It's a cheap Chinese knockoff unit. The only inverters worth the damn that are built better and engineered are samlex inverters imo

      Samlex pure sine inverters are very well made but pricy

  • @MrBobWareham
    @MrBobWareham Před 2 lety +2

    I have seen it reviewed with an oscilloscope, but the wave for under load was not a true pure sine wave, it distorts very badly, so I would not purchase one, but thanks for the video

    • @Bassguitarist1985
      @Bassguitarist1985  Před 2 lety

      It's great for low power applications but at best it can do 180 Watts continuous. It's when people start to push it at over 200 Watts and under 300 watts you see the waveform distort because the input step up circuitry is insufficient to sustain.
      Samlex, Go Power and Thor are all extremely well designed brands but they are also costly.

    If it’s plugged into a cigarette lighter but nothing connected to it. Would it still kill your battery if the car is off?

    • @Bassguitarist1985
      @Bassguitarist1985  Před rokem +2

      If the power switch is off then there should not be any parasitic draw. However if the switch is on and the inverter is running without any loads connected to it yes it would eventually drain your battery as there is an idle current on any inverter.

      You must be wrong.. ps4 draw around 300watt max.. the slim version will draw around 165watt. which means around 25amp or 12amp over 12v connection.. i have no idea where you got 150amp... i can only guess you mixed watt with amps.. its on the edge of this inverter maximum power, anyway you might be able to use this inverter to run your ps4 slim on it.. hopefully it won't blow the 15amp fuse..
