Vader was literally too angry to die.
Similar hatred Maul felt after being chopped in half by Obi wan and tumbling down a deep deep hole. The Sith are strong.
You should look up Darth Sion. He is Called the lord of pain for a reason
@@murkyjerky that guy is litterally the personification of "to angry to die" lol

If I were him, I would've begged to die. That's a hellish surgery. At the same time, it shows how twisted and evil Palpatine was. Sadistic.
I’m assuming the only reason he endured it was because he thought padme was still alive?
Darth Sidious, master of being insidious.
@@potatopeeler2919 yes and the hate for the Jedi and the high ground.
Palpatine stripped away every bit of humanity Vader had left as Anakin, or at least he thought, those horrific experiences did for a long time make Vader as the Emperor wanted him to be, and uncaring, unfeeling and unstoppable killing machine that was totally dedicated to his bidding, Luke came along and sparked what little bit of Humanity neither Vader, Palpatine or even Kenobi or Yoda realized was still there, that's why the Emperor feared him so much, he's the only one who could turn Vader against him
Maybe he did beg? Thing is, no one would have heard him due to his vocal cords being burned
Fun fact: Immediately after that hellish surgery, Emperor Palpatine electrocuted Darth Vader to show how vulnerable his suit was towards lightning so that he does not rebel against him. That goes to show how sadistic he truly was.
But then why did Vader die because of the mechanics of his suit malfunctioning from sidious' lighting?
@@ian6fx995 Check one of the newest comic series. Vader lashed out at Sidious with the Force after his resurrection. It's right after he tells him Padme died. As punishment, Sidious electrocuted him after talking him down.
@@ian6fx995 Vader has been electrocuted many times in the comics and he was electrocuted by Palp right after the surgery because he tried force choking palp for failing to save padme. Reason Vader lasted as long as he did was by his hate/anger once he lost all that with Luke he couldn’t go any longer.
Lol then drags Vader back to the exact same spot obi-wan left him to let him burn AGAIN 😭
@@FordMustang1011 he wasn't angry.
Vader let go of his hatred which kept him alive.
Sith can survive traumatic shit as long as they hold on to hate.
Why he survived being burnt,
Maul survived losing his lower intestine.
Vader can survive without the suit life-support for a few hrs with enough anger.
Soon as he killed palpatine he lost the ability to keep himself alive without the life-support.
How ironic, Hayden Christensen was in a film about being awake during a surgery himself.
He was also in a show called 'Higher Ground'
@Xeta actually yes
"How ironic" I read that in Palpatine's voice 😂
It is his destiny..
Deja vu
After hearing this, I can’t imagine the amount of mental damage Anakin himself took.
Feeling betrayed, becoming fueled by the dark side, seeing yourself slowly turn into a machine, and probably being taunted by palpatine In the process. Makes me sick thinking about it. There is no way you wouldn’t come out of that surgery absolutely psychotic.
The following quote is a bit of introspection from Vader in one of the comics:
“And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less now than what you were, you are more than half machine, you are like a painter gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can remember where the power was but the power you can touch is only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you cannot touch the shadow. In the end you don't even want to. In the end, you do not even want to. In the end, the shadow is all you have left. Because the shadow understands you, the shadow forgives you, the shadow gathers you unto itself-And within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame.”

He was in excruciating pain everyday since he fell on Mustafar and thats why he was known to be one of the most powerful sith lords in existence. He used his pain and anger to fuel his power, so when Sidious made his suit weaker to him thinking it would make Vader weaker it actually made him stronger lol.
Reminds me of Darth Sion a little bit
It made him stronger. But not as strong as he could've become if not for the injuries he sustained.
Think about if he didn't lose his limbs... He'd be the most powerful sith ever
@@user-yi9hz3or2t He actually did! Well in the new canon if you accept the new canon. In the new canon he became close to achieving his full potential but ultimately the memories of the decisions he made haunted him and therefore blocked him from reaching it. But he did become more powerful than the emperor in lightsaber and force capabilities. He did not overthrow Palpatine yet because he knew that his knowledge of the dark side of the force was nothing compared to Palpatine’s. He became far weaker during ROTJ because recently before that he learned of Padme’s last words and became even more conflicted when fighting his son Luke and Sidious saw this which is why he wanted Luke to be his new apprentice.
@@thecisco-oo5yl that's true!
The movie novel actually goes into graphic detail on the extent of his injuries and what makes Palpatine even more evil, there is regeneration technology in the SW verse that could have restored him but to bring out the dark side fully in his apprentice he arranged so he had the surgery without any anesthetic and placed into the most outdated suit. That's how paranoid Palpatine was.
Sadistic, not paranoid
Palpatine is smart, He did it so that it would fuel Vaders rage and anger and make him the powerful Sith he became, also as punishment for losing to Obi Wan on Mustafar
@@Chuked It's also the way if the sith to betray one another so there's that

I've seen burn surgeries and I can tell you that nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody, could endure that level of pain. The debridement of third degree burns is done with special tools called a dermatone which is designed to slice away thin layers of skin to prevent infection. To actually be conscious during that procedure for eight hours?! Impossible! The pain would be inhuman.

Perfect look for Anakin, I agree! The only thing I have trepidation about is Hayden in the suit! Darth Vader is a big guy...Hayden isn't. I wonder how they are going to get around that issue?
@Claude Then Hayden would be my heighth then. He would hopefully have some lifts too. I met David Prowse years back when he was in his early 60's, he was probably 6'5 then. When he was Vader, he was taller.
Damn right
I didn’t care for him whatsoever.
I’ve woken up during surgery multiple times. Once as a child having electrodes piercing my muscles to test their reaction. Second was during a gi scope and colonoscopy, the medicine wore off 3 times in a row and they kept having to give me more until they reached the legal limit and had to find my mom to get her to sign a waiver saying they could give me more even though it could kill someone normally. I remember walking to the car with my mom after and she said “oh you’re finally with us?” I asked her what happened and she proceeded to tell me what I just typed, along with the fact that I ran around the floor naked screaming at the doctors and nurses threatening to throw them out the window of the high rise we were in. They kept telling me to calm down and I yelled “I’ve been more effed up than this before, I know what I’m doing!”
So embarrassing. But being awake during surgery is just absolutely terrifying. You feel every single cut and all you want to do is kill everyone and everything around you because you feel like they are trying to kill you.
I've had an epidural which went off, as they dug into my leg with a scalpel. Luckily I could say "Guys, guys, GUYS! STOP!!".

This is essentially how my great grandfather died, he worked in a factory for steel production. The factory had these large bowls that hot molten steel would be poured into. When they weren’t using them they would send workers into the giant bowls to clean them. Well my grandfather went in to clean but nobody knew he was in the bowl. So the workers poured hot molten steel (like lava on mustafar) onto my grandfather. He suffered the same burns Vader did without losing his limbs. He died in hospital 3 days later in extreme pain practically begging to die. A few days after that his son (my great uncle) died on d day as a paratrooper with the 101st airborne.
Geezus Christ man I'm sorry that happened. Thats crazy
And Obi-Wan only got the sample of the amount of pain Anakin went through. A very small sample. Anakin went through literal hell and back and survived and endured it all. Impressive. Most impressive.
The pain anakin endured was insane .I love obi wan but leaving anakin to burn was horrible. Anakin burns were so bad it is so sad .
@@kellyann8440 yes. In fact I’d say obi wan is a villain. He left anakin to burn on mustafar.
Volcanic sand you say... it would seem the sand got the last laugh on that Skywalker
All the more reason he hates sand
Travis Barker talked about recovering from having much of his body burned in a plane crash while on JRE and he said that the pain was so bad that he begged his friends to come to the hospital to end him.

seeing anakin moaning agony been put mechanic in his hand and leg, at first i thought he was screaming pain after the burn recently. not the neural placement surgery
You forgot one very important part IMO
Many people say that to keep him alive, Palpatine was transferring Padmé’s life force to Vader which is why the droids could not understand why she was dying since they could not feel the force
Nah she died from a broken heart or the will to live which happens irl crazy shit ma
@@sakeem5830 yes, but it's a still a crazy theory that might work
@@MadChristoph It takes away some of the tragedy of the scenario. Of course it’s a great theory but I feel like it’s more tragic that Anakin (who worked sooo hard to prevent her death) was ultimately and ironically the reason why she died.
She was dying because they had to meet the Episode IV deadline.
@@sakeem5830 That isn't physically possible. Someone can't just decide "I don't want to live anymore" and automatically turn off their bodies like a droid. Someone or something must've sapped away her life energy and I suspect strongly that it was Palpatine as he'd want to get rid of her to remove a barrier to his plans and to break Anakin into being Vader for good.
Mustafar's intense heat severely burnt Anakin's body and poisoned his lungs that he would need the suit and medical assistance to stay alive for the rest of his life.
He was also drawing upon the dark side, fuelled by rage and anger to stay alive
When Vader was flown back to Coruscant I think the storm and rain affects added a dark somewhat depressing mood which is often used in funeral scenes in movies and TV which was appropriate as he was about to be rebuilt and put into his life-support suit
“You were my brother Anakin.”
So Kenobi chopped off three limbs and left him to catch fire and burn alive. Or he could have been humane. Or GL could have done it better. I know when I was a child the speculation was that the fight happened over a volcano and Vader fell in, (this was pre Empire) he was horrifically burned and killed Anakin in revenge, the artificial limbs were not known about at the time.
When Empire came out the speculation was that Anakin was in a fight over a volcano and was horrifically burned and became evil due to his pain and suffering (from Yoda’s lines), that reveal on Cloud City was HUGE.
He was angry because his " lightsaber" got burned TOO...
My dads a firefighter and he went to a call where someone was badly burned in a fire, their legs were terribly burnt and one of his buddies went to drag the guy but he didn’t know how burnt his legs were so when he grabbed the guys legs and pulled he ripped off the skin on the guys legs, so when Vader was trying to drag himself back up the bank he was tearing off all the flesh of his body, super cringey to think about.
They should do a Vader mini series while we still have James to voice him.
YES
Scott Lawrence is another alternative as he succeeded in replicating James' voice in Fallen Order.
Matt Sloan, of Chad Vader: Day Shift Manager fame, is another great alternative as he's done quite a few Vader voiceovers for assorted Star Wars video games.

Sudious also deliberately tortured Maul by tattooing his entire body in order to deepen his connection to the dark side through pain. He put Maul through mental and physical torture from a young age making him absolutely one with the dark side. Sidious is one seriously messed up dude.
I thought all Zabbraks have tattoos
No, the tattoos are a tradition for nightbrothers, he had tatoos as an infant.
Palpatine is the devil..
Maul had his tattoos even before Sidious even knew him. He was a Nightbrother.

Darth Vader is a prime example of if you're the type that fights for a cause, never leave an enemy alive. They will return with vengeance in their hearts and evil intent.

- the Jedi
- all of his limbs.

Remind me never to trust Anakin at a poker table.
The more pain and anger Vader had The stronger and more powerful he became.
That's also why he chose not to get a better suit, even after Palpatine offered him one. The pain of being in the suit made him more powerful in the dark side.
“ Surgery with no anesthesia, feel the knife pierce you intensely “...
I believe part of how Anakin/Vader made it through this horrendous surgery was his love for Padme and his hope to see and be with her again, I think that is what helped him through the process and drove him to have the will to push forward and want to stay alive. That love and hope for her is possibly the only thing that kept him somewhat sane during that excruciating procedures. There was also a comic series where it showed the process of Darth Vader putting the prosthetic limbs and suit on after soaking in a bacta tank and as the droids are placing the prosthetic limbs and suit onto him (which is also a painful process) he thinks of Padme and says out loud "keep me sane my love." as he undergoes the painful process.
I wonder if he just asked palps to stay in the rain bc it eased his burns lol

@@anishsingh1926 yea I just feel so bad for him I wish him some ease on his burns lol

PALPS LMAOOOOOO
Fun fact: corascunt has weather control, Palpatine ordered it to rain, with a machine that controls the clouds.
After hearing about his awful surgery at the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center, it makes you feel a lot more for Vader and then pain he goes through everyday since Revenge of the Sith.
I see that Anakin was at fault for beginning this battle and the end of the Jedi Order, but people say he’s a ‘villain’ however when you think about it in the deleted scene Anakin asked Obi Wan for help but Obi Wan rejected him, this led to even more anger and suffering for Anakin however Anakin could’ve been saved, Anakin just didn’t want his wife to die just as most people wouldn’t want someone close to them to die either, and like when he regret killing the Jawas in II I believe he truly regretted his actions at the end
people may call him a Villain but to me he is just a selfless, devoted and caring man, he saw the pain that his mother went through when she died, he just didn’t want the same pain and suffering come to Padme and their children
Those were the tuskan raiders. Not the jawas.
@@kevinskywalker5539 THE SAND PEOPLE

Villains also often have good intentions, that's the point.
@Knox2Don The point of the comment was to make sure that people knew that Anakin wasn't just a villain. When I think of the word "villain", I think of someone like Palpatine, the Joker from DC or even Ultron. These villains are of evil whether they have a sad backstory or not. A villain is someone who's actions and beliefs are immoral and they also know that they cause pain and suffering by carrying out said actions simultaneously. A tragic villain is someone who has been driven to the point of becoming a villain never truly being one to begin with or wanting to be one. There are also tragic villains that still believe that after following the path of evil that they are doing a righteous thing or what is righteous for them to do even if others may not do it. However, some tragic villains fully follow the path of evil and be or become evil. The Joker - was driven to the point of insanity to become a villain and could've been a tragic villain with good intentions but simply became the type to be know they caused pain and suffering and in this case, he enjoyed their pain (this comes from the film starring Joaquin Phoenix as it is the latest reiteration of the Joker). Ultron was never a tragic villain as he was always a villain from the start but the thing is that he had good intentions believing that wiping out organic life and recreating everything with A.I. replacements was the right thing to do. Palpatine is a true villain - one who is the mastermind behind it all, the one who was a villain from the start, the one who portrays every part of a stereotypical villain yet presented in such a sinister way that he is still an interesting character and whose entire plan was never figured out, the man is the one who has orchestrated everything to come and everything to go.
Anakin was a Jedi who was manipulated and twisted by Palpatine - the true villain - to become Vader the tragic villain. Even after becoming Vader - Anakin's only wish was the avenge Padme and their children as Palpatine had told him that it he himself was the cause of their death. As the Jedi order had restricted and recommended Anakin not to use the dark side, which Palpatine said could save Padme, so he ended up destroying the Jedi council. Though not doing the right thing, Vader had the good intentions of Anakin still within him thus being a true tragic villain.
Anakin may have done many immoral things but there is a line between a villain and a tragic villain so I only wished to make my opinion on the topic known which is that Anakin can't be called a "villain" by the stereotypical meaning.
Did his junk get burned off? If so no wonder Vader was angry.
As so much necrotic tissue was removed and how his whole body was engulfed in flames, I don't see how they would have been able to save that specific region.

I knew about this when I saw the book specifically about Vader's suit alone, its where I learned that it isn't a suit at all... it's literally a mobile hospital bed
Also the droids would stab a skin with tools to keep him awake for easier purposes incase he fell asleep
He didn't go through surgery and emerge as Darth Vader. He had already been christened Darth Vader by Darth Sidious upon turning to the dark side BEFORE facing Obi Wan in battle.
he emerged in his suit. He was already Vader, yes.
Plus his eyes were sith yellow and red when he kneeled to Sidious at the Jedi temple in the Holocron obiwan saw

Anakin didn't lose because Obi-Wan had the high ground

I'd like to see more of a breakdown in the visuals of the surgery, in particular transitioning from his tatered clothes to the new suit. Also, the details he discusses, where does he obtain from? Are these theories, knowledge of medical and anatomy or references from other Star Wars movies/programs?
It’s a mix of info from Wookipedia and the Revenge of the Sith novel man. The novel is a great read!
Palpatine when Vader asked why his surgery was so painful: I did a little trolling
I am in love with the Friday the 13th video game theme music. Yaaassss Jason!
Here's a fun fact: Palpatine made sure that the makeover used was the least technologically advanced alternative, in comparison to the teh available to Ani. This was done in order to make sure that Anakin didn't get strong enough to overthrow Palpatine
He still overTHREW him heh
Having inferior agility and only weight and strength is a huge disadvantage in the majority of lightsaber forms. Vader was powerful as a machine - compared to the available opponents left on the field - but against any high tier duellist of the former republic, even his fully human self; he’d have been beaten as easily as when he scraped past young Luke with his minimal training early on.
With Obi-wan preferring a defensive stance I can see him struggling a little but certainly Mace or Dooku would have wrecked robokin in a duel. A great villain but the suit wasn’t even a good one as stated. I’m not confident he would have been close to his former power even if it had been a better design.
I thought the reason why Anakin didn't receive anesthetics during the surgery was the keep the midi-chlorians intact, since those anesthetics would have thinned out the number of them being in the blood stream. Maybe that's why the Emperor chose to conduct the procedures this way, so that Vader would keep his Sith powers intact and not because Palpatine wanted to needlessly commit more malice. I got this from a book btw
It’s insane with the dark side when your in pain and agony your anger is what makes you feel alive

I'm looking forward to seeing Hayden Christensen back as Darth Vader I'm just worried that they're going to screw up the lore and the cannon during this you know sequel trilogy level screw up
If they didn't screw up the mandalorian why would they screw up this?
@@patrikgajcevic8123 Because people think every modern star wars show or movie is made by disney themselves instead of individual creators. JJ Abrams and Rian Jonson are behind the sequel trilogy, the Kenobi series is gonna be directed by Deborah Chow, who's worked on the Mandalorian and better call saul (another great show.)
@@patrikgajcevic8123 you'll have to excuse me but after the sequel trilogy and all the remakes that Disney's been making of their own movie franchises I don't have a whole lot of faith in them. It seems to be luck of the draw and luck of the director
@@sarahbelle81 Kathleen Kennedy is to blame!
You are the king of voice cracks.
2:15 sorry but your voice crack killed me a little haha. May the force be with you
I hope we get a hint of Vaders mental anguish in the Kenobi series. Its a part of his character that has remained largely unexplored in film, and its so damn intriguing.
Vader is not a suit, he is a person. Anakin became Vader the moment he betrayed the Jedi Order and fully submitted to the dark side of the Force. This all happened before he got the robotic replacements/ surgery
When I see the fear in his eyes as the mask comes down, I hear Yoda's voice, 'and I sense MUCH fear in YOU".
That sample you used takes me back.
I wonder how a surgeon would react to this kind of injury set. Maybe see if that is something someone would want to do. Surgeons reaction to Darth Vader's injuries. Maybe their reaction to the repair surgery itself, since it is seemingly gruesome.
This is a good idea
I love how people react like this actually happend
Got to they keep taking good cannon from us
Great video
I like the Friday the 13th NES music you used.
You know what makes you realize how bad the sequel trilogy was? Everyone happy Hayden is coming back
We feel bad for how we treated him. It was Lucas's fault, really.
The entire "surgery" was always pretty ludicrous and made no sense even within the confines of the story. It was an awkward and unnecessary scene that was included for no other reason than to "show" Vader, which never should have happened in ROTS at all. Anakin shouldn't have been shown AT ALL after the duel. That's what a competent storyteller would have done. There was no point other than marketing.
That said, even IF Anakin had to be shown, it should have been in a bacta tank. Luke had a little frostbite and a gash in ESB and was placed in the tank to heal. Anakin was crisped, and was thrown right into the suit immediately without ANY healing of the wounds, which is stupid. His skin would have had to have peeled away, new skin and scar tissue formed and grown, his lungs would have had to heal, etc. THEN, much later he would be put in the suit. The way it was portrayed in the movie was absurd, even by sci-fi standards.
It's just amazing that these two fought effortlessly in all that heat, and volcanic gases.
Cool vid- I like the music from the Friday the 13th NES game👍🏻👍🏻
He was being burned, surrounded by the high ground and sand! That was Anakin's worst day ever!
Just imagine how horrible Anakin's burned flesh must have smelled like. Hair, skin, internal organs all charred.
If you watch the surgery on put the volume on max and as the helmet goes over his face you can hear him say “padme help me”
Sad you weren’t monetized for this upload ...great job
How did this dude know Hayden Christensen was coming back as Vader four months ago? Wasn't it just announced?
It's a tale the Jedi would tell!
It was speculated for months before that.
The notion of Sidious simultaneously making him powerful AND dependent is genuinely chilling.
That Voice crakle at 2:15 😂🤣
You can see the moment his sunshine catches on fire
one critical detail you for got to mention about the surgical procedure they actually sprayed him down with that 90% isopropyl rubbing alcohol to clean the burns and wounds before they put him in the suit lol
Lol can you imagine 😂😂😂
No living thing could fathom what each second of every day would have felt like
interesting video mate quite informative as well, well done 😀👍✌
sick video!! loved it.
