World VFX Day: "No CGI" Is Just Invisible CGI

- Our first talk for the first ever 'World VFX Day' is on the disturbing trend of actors and industry professionals talk (and seemingly brag) about not using any CGI/VFX in their movies/shows...We know the magic happens on screen when there's a high quality mix of various production methods.
Thanks to Ian Failes from Befores and Afters and Jonas Ussing from Space VFX Studios for being first up and discussing a taboo subject that needs to change (with a cameo from World VFX Day Founder, Hayley Miller, which was acting as a prompt to wrap up).

Soon the studios will be promoting: " All effects are CGI'ed by real artists, with no AI". Soon all practical sets, extras, secondary roles, will be AI generated. Sad
I honestly don't think that that is going to happen anytime soon. At least not in the way people like to think it will. "Ai" just does not have enough control over what it does and 3D rendering has all the control you could think of and it just looks real. When the camera was invented people said that no one will paint anymore and that is far from the truth. It won't replace, at least not until we actually invent real ai that doesn't just steal/copy from actual art. "Ai" doesn't create things out of nowhere, it basically builds a collage from information that was put in the database. It's an algorithm, Ai is just a buzz word that is good for marketing.
