The more I see the more confused I am between true autumn and deep autumn 😂. I am warm toned, medium contrast, my eyes are golden brown with green hues so that goes for true autumn but my hair isnt chocolate is very very dark brown which would put me into deep autumn 😵💫
If you are deep autumn, you should be able to pull off some slightly cool, deep winter colors. Likewise, if you are true autumn you can venture into more greyish soft autumn colors.
I had a simialr quandary and used this method to determine i am true autumn...

I did a color analysis and got my colors for me as an autumn. It was a relief to get the palett. The problem now is to find the colors out there. It is not easy. Cool and cold colors are easy to find in psysical shops and they are often trending in various times of the year. I have to search in online shops 95% of the time.
It works most of the time but the downside is of course that you can,t try the clothes before buying it.
True autumns specially if dark complected seem to have the appearance of the morning sun glowing on them. I think of Juicy orange juice or a ripened peach. I darken very quickly when outdoors. So have multiple skin shades all over body depending where the sun exposure occured.

When I first learned about color analysis, I thought I was a spring. Turned out that I was autumn after draping myself and watching lots of vids to train my eyes. I was disappointed at first since I liked bright, warm colors but turned out they overwhelmed me. After watching Mikaela's vids on TA & DA, I'm 80% sure I'm a true autumn, which is great coz I like the TA palette better. Yay! Btw, you look great in that turtleneck shirt. Thnx for your vids. 👍🏼💐

Love the video. A huge issue I have with this season is that most true autumn examples of women of color all have dyed their hair. From my understanding, dying your hair shouldn't change your season... but I think I disagree for those of us who are borderline. Are we assuming that JLo, Beyonce and Chrissy would all still look like true autumns without always having their hair dyed variations of gold? Idk.
For example, I find that I suit the richer end of true autumn and the less stark end of dark autumn. When my hair is medium brown or ginger, I appear as a natural true autumn. When my hair is super brunette, I start to drift into dark autumn territory. I have more contrast than the standard true autumn, but I find that lightness (i.e. sun-kissed hair or framing highlights) actually makes my features stand out more rather than diminish them. When I go darker with my hair, I have and edgy and sexy look but I can also look a weeeeeee bit washed out (just a lil). My eyes and skin, when compared eachother, have low to medium contrast (so quite muted overall)... but my naturally very dark brown hair is what throws in a bit of extra contrast. I will say my traits in order of prominence are: warm > dark > muted. Warm > muted = TA... Dark + warm > DA... but what about warm > dark?
Hi. I'm a POC and have natural black hair, dark brown eyes, skintone similar to J. Lo. My current hair is reddish-brown. The site "colorwise me" has typed me as DW or DA. I chose DA since I have warm undertone. However, after watching many vids (color analysis theory & draping), and having draped myself, I've realised that I'm a TA. However, due to my dark features, I can also wear DA. I've downloaded both palettes (TA & DA) and during shopping now, I choose the colors from either palette. My suggestion is that if you're a POC (and you can't be analysed by a pro), then just use both TA & DA palettes. Before buying clothes, put it near your face to see if the color looks good on you. Some colors will look better than others. During professional analysis/ draping, that's when the analyst drapes you to discover your "wow" colors. Good luck!

I hope to see more of your videos on other types as well. I thought I'm a spring type, but seeing your video and reading into concept wardrobe articles, I've realized I'm actually an autumn. It would be great to see soft autumn and true spring explained too, because those are pretty close to true autumn and it can be quite confusing to sort out the differences. Great job, keep up!

I hate the autumn color palette. I feel like it’s too “earthy” and not edgy enough for my taste. Whenever i dress in my palatte i feel too natural and not sultry or powerful. I love black, hot pink, metallic blues, and lavender and I despise oranges and forest green. I’m sad that the colors I like aren’t in my color season 😢
Same here! It just all sounds so boring and non-dramatic. I also found that I'm a romantic kibbe type, double boring for me! Maybe I'll grow to like it when I realise I look amazing 😂

I always thought I was a true winter soldier I bought a ton of saturated blue and red, and white and black and now Ive used an app that tells you what you are, and apparently I’m a true autumn which is so confusing and I literally hate all the colors for :p
I was recommended this video after I said that orange lipstick looks more natural on me than pink does!
I'm a true/warm autumn, but my eyes are blue-ish with a tan ring around the pupil. A color picker pulls an olive-y blue. It's the only thing that confuses me when I see examples of autumns.
We are humans, and we come in all different colors :) This is an overall "look" that a typical autumn would have, but in general if this season suits you, and the colors are on this palette suit you best, you're a true autumn! Ignore the features and trust what kind of colors look best on YOU

I am confused between
1) soft summer vs soft autumn: Im not a fan of the summer palette and I don't think I look good in pastel colours as I am very pale and they make me look like I'm already dead. My mom who has lighter and ash blonde hair looks much better in this palette and I believe she is a soft summer. I often heard that under right sun my dark blonde hair look somewhat reddish. She's got bright blue eyes with a yellow center but mine eyes have this center more "spilled" which makes them look more mellow and green-grayish. She looks great in silver jewelerry while gold is a no-no. As for me, both might be good depending on the rest of the outfit.
2) soft autumn vs warm autumn: I love the earthy tones and even though I am pale, during summer I got my face covered with freckles and my whole face gets a reddish tone

Is it possible to be a true autumn in the summer and a deep winter in the fall, winter and early spring? My shade of color can change that drastically depending if I stay home I’ll quickly become olive tone but if I’m tanning at the beach I can develop a really nice warm deep tan. I’m not tan year around like my sister who’s tan and that’s where she stays all year.

Hi. You could try draping yourself & take pics. For spring vs autumn, choose a bright version vs muted version. Ex. Bright yellow vs mustard, bright orange vs rust, bright warm green vs olive or army green, bright tomato red vs carmine, etc. If bright suits you = spring. If muted = autumn. Your focus should be on the face, not the color. Do it w/o makeup. For the subtypes, draping also works but it's more specialized. Good luck!

@@honorcollins6962 you could do it with paper maybe? Or pics of those colors on a phone/ tablet/ laptop? You'll need 2 phones or 1 phone + 1 tablet/ laptop. Put the tablet (w/ the color) below your face. Have a mirror & see the changes on your skin. Take pics too and analyze the pics. The colors oj the screen may be a bit different 'cos of lighting but you'll get an idea. Or you could do virtual draping? Use your pic w/o makeup & surround your face with the particular color. If your hair is colored, don't include your hair when you crop your face pic. You can see the vids/ shorts of Carol Brailey - she does virtual draping. Good luck!

I have blue eyes, but I’m really sure that my yellowisch undertone and my darker warm brown hair totally fit in true autumn.
Also I recognised that really good colours for my wardrobe are muted tones, like burnt orange.

Because most times blue eyes are characterised as warm/true spring. But when i wear those popping colours, the Colour wears me and it looks awful.
Hi. From another analyst, she said that autumns can have blue eyes but they're more of turquoise (with yellow mixed in) or more of hazel-ish. Try to drape yourself (bright vs muted versions of the color). Take pics & analyse them. If the muted versions suit you better, then you're probably an autumn. Another analyst said that if you can wear pumpkin orange, olive green & mustard yellow = you're an autumn. Otherwise, spring = need brighter versions.

This was explained well. So is it the same for all the other seasons too? They all have the three sub seasons and then also a true season? Whenever I look it up online it says true with a bracket ( for example true/ warm autumn. So I always assumed it was just two ways of saying the same sub season. Two names.

Hello, Can I be a true autumn or soft autumn if I have a neutral leaning a bit warm skin tone? because I have light skin tone ,with brown black hair+ brown eyes. I feel like I can pull off middle value color + a bit muted , too warm or too rich doesn't look good on me, ( Im apparently "dark autumn" ) but these colors are too dark ( black make me look even more yellow) but off white/neutral cream color look better on me , I'm lost 😭 my best colors are, neutral light color, Dusty pink ( muted or a middle satured color not too saturated), a rich blue 🔵 like this, red Coral are ok, navy blue, muted sage green look ok tho, plum looks nice on me, red wine tho, middle brightness gray, orange aren't bad but yellow is very bad)

What do you wear for jeans then since jeans tend to be blue or black? I like light blue/pale jeans more than dark jeans. I don’t like wearing dresses or skirts as it’s not my style. I also don’t care to wear trousers. I’m in between soft and true autumn and I know I can borrow light blue from summer but I figured I would ask
Hi. Other analysts have said that it's important to wear your seasonal colors near your face (so your upper half). IMO if you like pale jeans, that's OK - it wouldn't matter much re: your face, but if you're true autumn then darker jeans would be better for a more cohesive look.

Can true autumns have blue eyes? My friend is a natural redhead and I swear she's a true autumn in every way, but she has blue eyes.
Red heads are either autumn or spring but with blue eyes I would lean towards spring.
What is the difference between cool summer and true summer?
Hi. In the 12 season system, true = cool summer (it's the same). In the 16 season system, true summer is the "middle ground" summer while cool summer is the one which borders/ near to winter (the colors are less muted/ more vivid).

I got a professional color analysis done and was typed autumn (warm + muted) and I am a natural red head. Red heads can be autumns and springs, sometimes they are summers, rarely winters.

Hi. If you have very dark/ black hair, then you're probably a true or dark autumn. See if the colors mustard yellow, pumpkin orange & olive green look good on you. If yes = true autumn.

@@kassie-annonandia67 Jessica Alba is usually typed as soft autumn. Check if you can wear softer (more muted) versions of the colors that I mentioned.
