I agree with Michael regarding the important role of close family members to protect those experiencing mental decline. What are his wife and son thinking? Are they making any effort to help him deal with the reality of his situation. They don't appear to be providing him any guidance. Besides protecting Biden from embarrassment and humiliation. In addition, and more importantly, the country should be protected from a President and Commander in Chief who isn't competent enough to fulfill the responsibilities of the office he holds.

They still have time to change course and save themselves, but that would feel uncomfortable and disruptive. So they stay the course and keep drifting to catastrophe.

This is the danger of having a winner-take-all-all electoral system. In European parliamentary Democracies, it's much harder for extremists to control the government. They usually have to form coalitions.
We ended up getting Trump in 2016 because of our flawed system when some of us tried to get third parties into the debates and full involvement. The electoral college sucks.

I have the answer to your question.
The Democrats have been saying Trump is unqualified and should step down for years now.
The Republicans and their voters are the only ones that can kick Trump out and on every occasion they have stuck with him no matter what he has done.
Also Republicans are more of a monolith party with an authoritarian approach. They don’t like dissension and will kick people out of their party for even criticizing Trump. A very authoritarian approach.
Democrats are a little bit more healthy and can criticize their party leaders because they are a coalition party with many diverse view points and groups.
It's a disgrace that any 80+ yr old is in office. We need leaders who will be alive to witness (and hopefully be held accountable for) the effects of their actions.

Anyone who has worked around older people or had one in their family can see he has dementia. No one blames him; it could happen to anyone but a plan for replacement needs to forthcoming-NOW.
I also know this. I recently lost my Dad to Dementia. I remember the early stages he was exactly like Biden, and also like Biden had good days and bad days.
From there his decline was rapid. Within a year he entered a dementia facility. Five years later at the time he passed he didn't know who I was, didn't know who he was, remembered nothing of his life, and had an estimated 20 word vocabulary.
People like you and I, who know how this works, think to ourselves "what will Biden be like in a year or two or four?" Sadly, we know the answer to that question.
I spent about 5 years with 2 family members in dementia, and the paths were similar to each other but still different. I disagree with you .... I see dementia, very much like what I saw, in Trump, including the anger levels. Biden is old and he is in a very difficult job, getting more pressure right now with the campaign. IMHO, if in dementia, he would have already tapped out. (And, best as I could tell, every step further info dementia is a one-way step.) I wonder if his staff has given the man the down time he needs. I'm in my 70s and I don't "bounce back" like I did, even 5 years ago. Biden has dealt with traumatic world events one after another. Then add the constant pressure of the Trump firehose of lies and threats of violence to so many. He has been amazing, standing against the wiles of a man/machine who wants to fundamentally change this country. Just some of my thoughts .....

Audio folks who work at these events have said it's funny Biden sounds weak when the events are run through the corp media's systems, then in places like Howard Stern's interview he sounds fine. They said the lectern in front of Biden was slanted to the side in a way that caught Biden's side view, while catching Trump head on. Made a difference in the perception of Biden because he was looking down at notes while appearing to be dazed and spacing out due to camera angles. Content wise Biden won 100% and most of us know that..

When it’s about executive powers, absolutely not! Another said, I used to have a very good memory, but it has drastically deteriorated. That is an area where I notice a huge difference.
